Toyota produces new engine, to continue fuel cell

As an advocate of clean exhaust emissions, Toyota is already producing the brand-new ZR engine at the second plant of Tianjin FAW Toyota Engine Co., Ltd., as announced recently by the Tianjin Economic- Technological Development Area (TEDA).

This engine meets the tail gas emissions set-out by the Euro III standard. According to Toyota, it also has the potential to meet the Euro IV standard, will be installed in Toyota's new Corolla. The said car will be produced at the third plant of Tianjin FAW Toyota Engine Co., Ltd. next month.

The manufacturer of the ZR engine, Tianjin FAW Toyota Engine Co. Ltd., is the core parts manufacturer of Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. The ZR engine has the characteristics of high performance yet low fuel consumption and low emissions. It ranks top among its international competitors in terms of motive power, fuel economy and environmental protection.

The environmentally-friendly engines are produced simultaneously and its output will reach 220,000 sets every year. It therefore means the Chinese market is playing an increasingly important role for Toyota and the position of Tianjin Binhai New Area is undoubtedly more and more prominent in its strategy for the China market.

Aside from the announcement of the initial production of the brand-new ZR engine, Toyota also announced today its plans to continue providing its city-gas-powered 1-kW residential fuel cell cogeneration system to Toho Gas Co., Ltd. (Toho), which is participating in the 2007 Large-Scale Stationary Fuel Cell Demonstration Project of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry by installing and monitoring the system in ordinary homes. Toyota Motor Company's residential fuel cell cogeneration system combines a stationary fuel cell - jointly developed with Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. (Aisin) - and a hot water storage tank. TMC is going to manufacture 28 units of the system for Toho. These are planned to be installed inside the houses in three prefectures - Aichi, Gifu and Mie - of Japan's Tokai District to collect data for a two-year period ending in March 2010.

TMC has considered global environmental preservation as a priority management issue in terms of its corporate social responsibility. Consequently, it has been actively developing technologies and marketing products that will help solve environmental problems especially air pollution. Toyota Motor Company's continuing research and development of residential fuel cell cogeneration systems is part of this effort.

Toyota is also in the process of enhancing Toyota muffler to provide smoothness both in the engine and the exhaust.

During the three-year period from 2005 through 2007, every year, the New Energy Foundation, the organization carrying out Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Large-Scale Stationary Fuel Cell Demonstration Project, has been encouraging energy suppliers to participate in its verification project. Last year, Toyota Motor Company, as a fuel cell system manufacturer, provided 24 residential fuel cell cogeneration systems to energy supplier Toho.

In an email, General Motors Corp.'s Chairman and CEO, Rick Wagoner, told senior executives that the company has not given up the fight despite being outpaced by the Toyota Motor Corp. in global sales during the first quarter of this year. "We still have the majority of the year in front of us, and we will fight hard for every sale - all the while staying focused on our long-term goals as a global, growing company," he wrote Tuesday shortly after Toyota's sales figures were released.

Wagoner said that GM was surpassed by Toyota largely because of its move to reduce unprofitable sales to fleet customers and the fact that Toyota crushes GM in sales in the Japanese market. "Like many of you, I woke up to news reports today of Toyota passing GM in global sales in the first quarter this year, for the first time ever," Wagoner added in the e-mail. "I didn't welcome this morning's news, and I know you didn't either. But what's important is that we stay focused on implementing our business strategies around the globe, because they are working."

GMs top officials have been trying to stress profitability over sales. A strategy of reducing fleet sales "cost us about 70,000 units in lower daily rental sales in the United States and Canada in the first quarter this year nearly the entire amount of our global sales gap versus Toyota. But it was the right thing to do. Our sales and marketing strategy requires patience, but it's working, and we need to stick with it," Wagoner wrote.

GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz offered a curt response Wednesday to Toyota's outpacing GM in the first quarter of the year: "My reaction is 'So what?'" GM has been the worldwide leader in auto sales since 1931, when it has overthrown the Ford Motor Co.

In 2006, the Detroit automaker sold 9.1 million vehicles worldwide, down from the 9.17 million in 2005, reporting a net loss of $2 billion, lessening its $10.4 billion loss in 2005. In the previous year, Toyota sold 8.8 million vehicles, up eight percent and earned over $11 billion in its last fiscal year. The Japanese automaker said that it expects to sell 9.34 million vehicles this year. GM did not disclose its target sales for this year.

In his e-mail, Wagoner noted that GM outsells Toyota in 12 of the 15 top auto markets worldwide, and still outsold Toyota by 1.5 million units in the U.S. in the previous year. "One question is where did Toyota pass us in sales? Basically, Toyota beats us badly in their home market of Japan (by 2.4 million units on an annual basis), and we win in most other markets," he wrote. The CEO also noted that the automaker is "staying focused on further reducing our still huge health care cost disadvantage versus Toyota and other non-U.S. based manufacturers."

Toyota stepped up its lobbying efforts Wednesday in Washington, stressing its investment in U.S. at a time when some company officials fear a backlash. Some 100 U.S. Toyota employees - including assistant regional managers, plant executives and financial executives - fanned out on Capitol Hill to take part in a prescheduled "grassroots lobbying effort," spokeswoman Martha Voss said.

"They are here to touch base and say, 'We're here, we're from your district. Here's what kind of jobs and investments we have,'" Voss said, adding the timing had nothing to do with the sales milestone. Toyota's lobbying efforts are downright obvious. "They outspend us," Lutz said in January. "It is my considered opinion that Toyota has more clout in Washington than we do."

Another issue domestic automakers have been complaining stridently about is the value of the Japanese yen. Automakers dispute Japanese currency "manipulation" unfairly gives Toyota, Honda and Nissan up to a $4,000 per vehicle subsidy. It made American cars more costly in Japan and Japanese imports less expensive in America. This is true with other Detroit automakers. Compared with the assembly of foreign car parts, it would be difficult for the assemblage of Jeep cold air intake and other US auto parts to penetrate other territories especially Japan.

Two-thirds of the U.S. $88 billion trade deficit with Japan is auto-related. Last month, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing, introduced a bill dubbed the Japanese Currency Manipulation Act, which would force Japan's government "to take action to stop subsidizing millions of auto exports to the U.S. by bringing its currency into proper alignment with the U.S. dollar," said a statement from the Automotive Trade Policy Council, a group representing GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler AG.

The group said the subsidy provides a windfall that ranges up to "$10,000 per vehicle for higher-end Japanese imported SUVs such as those sold by Toyota under the Lexus brand."

The National Security Council (NSC) spokesman Dave McCormick defended the administration's approach. This is what is has to say: "We look to have open markets in all areas, and are focused on continuing to find ways for Japan to open up its markets, particularly for foreign investment in the automotive sector."

Ford Motor Co. has recently unveiled the show-and-go hot rod 2008 F-150 Foose Edition, which is dressed to cruise the boulevard.

The design created by Chip Foose, the celebrated custom-car guru and host of TV's "Overhaulin" on the 2008 Ford F-150 stands out from other trucks design although the addition of a nerf bar may also do the Foose Edition F-150 some good. According to Ben Poore, Ford truck group marketing manager, "Fitting Ford's style, Foose creations aren't too 'Pimp My Ride'."

Poore also added that Foose is more minimalist in his styling and preferred to show a truck's natural lines. Foose's designs interest a wide range of consumers. "If you look at who is on his show, there's a cross section of America."

Poore said that the initial meeting with Foose was a lot like being a guest on 'Overhaulin'. Poore has discussed with Foose about creating the F-150 Foose Edition, based on the F-150 FX2 Sport.

The meeting between Poore and Foose transpired at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association convention in Las Vegas, where Foose was hosting his TV show. The plans for the F-150 Foose Edition were discussed on the set at the table where Foose draws and plans custom treatments with guests.

"He did with me what he does with the other people on his show," Poore said. He says, 'Ben, what are you looking for in a truck'?" to which Poore replied that he wants a Ford street-rod truck. He added that he wants Foose to take the FX2 and give it a street-rod kind of look. Foose immediately jot down all the information. "He starts scribbling", Poore said. "You can't talk to him without his hands starting to move. It's just amazing."

Terms such as "tough luxury" and "street-rod tough" bounce around- keeping the toughness of the brand, but getting that street-rod look even more into it, Poore said. Foose also asked where Ford wants to put the most focus, on the interior or exterior. "Absolutely the exterior," Poore said. Then Foose asked about the wheel size that Ford wants. "At least 20s," Poore said. "Let's try to go for 22s," Foose said, and Poore agreed.

The wheels used for the F-150 Foose Edition are forged, polished wheels wrapped by P275/45R-22 tires. They are covered by flared fenders that give the impression of a lowered look. The show truck is lowered by 1.5 inches which may be different on production model and Foose created an effect to make it look more lowered by putting the body kit with custom rocker panels all the way around the vehicle instead of fitting a chin spoiler up front.

To further enhance the grounded look of the F-150 Foose added some bold racing stripes that begin at the leading edge of the hood. The cascading down stripes narrows significantly at the front fenders and then continuous rearward as a trim band, above door handles, and across to the tailgate. It ends with two wide stripes dipping down the tailgate.

The wide stripes balance out the front design elements of the F-150. For exhausts, Foose selects squarish dual outlets to match the shapes of the ducts in the front chin spoiler. The dual exhausts were derived from Ford Racing parts, providing the F-150 Foose Edition the most potent engine in an under-8,500-GVWR-class pickup. It's a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8, revving up 450 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of potent torque mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Poore said, "This will be the fastest truck in the lineup, absolutely. ---Its tremendous power off the line. If you are going to cruise the highway and you get the rpm up and you just let it kick in, it just keeps going, and going and going." He also added that the powertrain and the exterior is where most of the extra attitudes are invested stressing the fact that the FX2 interior already contains some special touches.

The changes on the interior design o fteh F-150 Foose Edition were made minimal. Its center console armrest is fitted with a full-leather, while the front headrests were provided with contrast stitching and are embossed with the Foose signature. Ford carpeted floor mats with the Foose logo were also added. A personalized build sequence badge turns the F-150 into an official Foose creation.

For admirers who are dying to know the source of the remarkable F-150's design, there are "FOOSE DESIGN" badges on the rear flanks. Ford may also take things further by substituting the F-150 badges on the front fenders with "FOOSE F-150" badges.

Ford's F-150 Foose Edition is scheduled for sale in the first quarter of 2008. No announcements yet have been made with regards to pricing of the number of limited-edition pickups that are to be produced. "They will not be easy to come by," Poore said.

Nissan Titan Gets 2008 Prices

Are you in the market for a Nissan Titan? If you are, then you would most certainly want to know that the Nissan Motor Corporation has already sent out the new prices for this vehicle models in their range.

The Nissan Titan which comes as a full sized pickup truck was first launched in the year 2004 and for this year, this model would come with two new additions to its long bed configurations. It would also come with some redesigns and restyling changes like the new grille, a choice of interior designs and larger wheels. For the new addition, the Titan PRO-4X, that version is priced for $31,450 (King Cab) and $33,950 (Crew Cab).

This vehicle uses Nissan's platform for pickups - the F-Alpha. For power, it also comes with a DOHC Endurance V8 engine unit with 5.6 liters capacity. This unit can spurt out 317 horsepower as well as 385 pound feet.

GM sells more than 2.2 million vehicles from January to April 2007

According to preliminary sales figures released earlier this week, General Motors sold a record of 2.26 million cars and trucks, along with their GM truck accessories, around the world this year from January to April. GM global first quarter sales were up 67,000 vehicles, or 3 percent, compared with sales of 2.19 million in the first quarter of 2006.

GM Vice President John Middlebrook said GM's posted record sales in the first quarter was driven by exceptionally strong demand in emerging markets such as the global sales, service and marketing operations. He further said the company saw more than 20 percent growth in the Asia/Pacific region and had 17 percent growth in the Latin America, Africa and Middle East region. He added that the 6 percent growth in Europe where they sold more than a half-million vehicles and established a new sales record was very significant to them.

Three cars from GM are showing a global success, each showing their most marketable GM truck part: Chevrolet, HUMMER and Cadillac.

A 4 percent increase from last year was seen in the Chevrolet global sales of 1.04 million vehicles. The global increase was attributed to a 33 percent growth in Europe, 12 percent in Asia- Pacific and 19 percent in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

GM also retains its strong luxury truck portfolio growth, due to the incomparable GM truck parts, which comprise the vehicle. Evidence is the HUMMER sales that grew 37 percent in the Latin America, Africa and the Middle East region. Around the world, HUMMER recorded 15,000 vehicle sales. With the Hummer H2 mid-cycle enhancement, addition of the V8-powered HUMMER H3 Alpha in North America and start of production of the right hand-drive HUMMER H3 in South Africa, HUMMER products are well-positioned to respond to demanding customers' needs.

Outside North America, Cadillac had a sales increase due to the 89 percent sales growth in Europe, a 55 percent increase in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East and 47 percent growth in Asia/Pacific.

Several GM regional brands also experienced notable growth in the first quarter of 2007.

Opel and Vauxhall, for instance sold 443,000 vehicles for the months January to April this year. Vauxhall was up 6.3 percent and Opel was up about a half percent with 1,200 more vehicles sold this year compared with those sold in the first quarter of 2006. The brands achieved segment leadership with Opel Meriva and Opel Zafira -- in the monocab segment -- and second position with Opel Astra in the popular compact segment.

Largely based on the popularity of the new 2007 Saturn Aura, 2007 Saturn Sky, 2007 Saturn Vue, 2007 Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid, and 2007 Saturn Outlook crossover utility vehicles, Saturn sales in the United States and Canada were up by 19 percent. Saturn anticipates stronger sales this year as it continues the launch of the Saturn Outlook crossover and welcomes Saturn Astra, the Ion small-car replacement,. Reports say Saturn is undergoing the most extensive product rebirth in its history.

Not minding South Korea's strong market growth on the back of its Winstorm SUV and Tosca medium car, Daewoo sales of 35,000 vehicles were up 31 percent.

GM expects more increased sales these coming years as it continues to innovate what was then already way far from others.

Study Shows Chevy Blazer Has Highest Driver Fatality Rate

According to a recent study conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), General Motors Corp. vehicles had the highest and lowest driver fatality rates from 2002 through 2005. And the highest rate is linked to Chevy Blazers.

The study found that the Chevrolet Blazer which comes as a two-door, two-wheel drive SUV built from 2001 to 2004, had the highest rate of driver fatalities which amounts to 232 per million registered vehicles during the four-year duration.

The Blazer was launched in 1969 on the C/K pickup truck chassis that produces GM's trucks. In 1970, the largest automaker introduced Jimmy - its own model of the truck which was produced until the arrival of GMC Yukon in 1992. The Blazer is replaced by the Chevrolet Tahoe which is now a full-size SUV.

The Blazer and Jimmy, based on the short wheelbase trucks, were made available with either four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. Its long wheelbase sibling is called the Chevrolet Suburban. Both the K5 Blazer and the Jimmy were given fabulous removable tops for the first few years until 1976 when the half-cab body style was launched. In 1983, the S-10 Blazer and S-15 Jimmy, all smaller models, were introduced. The original Blazer and Jimmy remained in production until 1991.

GM's Chevrolet Astro, on the other hand, is the recipient of the lowest rate with only seven fatalities per million registered vehicles. The Astro boasts of powerful auto parts that consist of engines, AEM intakes, radiators, filters and more. The midsize van, which has debuted in 1985, is engineered to compete with domestic rivals like the Dodge Caravan. The Astro shares the same platform with GMC Safari which is its sibling.

In connection with the rating, the Infiniti G35, BMW 7 Series and the Toyota 4Runner came next to the Chevrolet Astro. Additionally, the two-door Acura RSX had the second-highest rate with 202 driver deaths followed by the Nissan 350Z, with 193 deaths.

The Chevy Astro and Blazer went out of production in 2005.

Automakers said the study was limited in scope because it did not include factors such as driver behavior that could play a key role. "It's difficult to really draw much significance," said GM spokesman Alan Adler.

Nissan said its vehicles, including the 350Z, are designed to meet government safety regulations and the automaker's internal safety requirements. Chris Naughton, a spokesman for Acura parent Honda Motor Co., said that the Acura RSX had younger buyers, which could have contributed to its ranking.

The IIHS found the average death rate decreased from 110 from 1990 to 1994 to the current rate of 79 for the 2002 to 2005 period.

General Motors--world's largest automaker and manufacturer of quality Oldsmobile mufflers --- together with its China joint ventures are going to showcase a couple of vehicles under the theme Driving China's Automotive Industry into the Future at the Auto Shanghai 2007. 41 vehicles from GM, SAIC-GM-Wuling, and Shanghai General Motors are to be presented on the 4,500 square-meter stand at the Auto Shanghai 2007.

GM China Group President and Managing Director Kevin E. Wale, "GM is proud to be joining our joint ventures to show the people of China our unmatched lineup of vehicles in addition to some new products and technologies that are making their first appearance in China. Our stand demonstrates how China's vehicle buyers are benefiting from our partnerships today and will continue to benefit from our partnerships well into the future."

The main focus of the GM's stand is the two concept vehicles that are making their worldwide premier. The two products are to be personally introduced by GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner.

The Buick Riviera is a charming coupe developed with global design input by GM's Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) in Shanghai. The Riviera concept was created to showcase Buick's new global design direction that combines East and West. The Riviera also marks the return of a popular Buick nameplate after an eight-year break.

Aside from the Riviera Concept, the producer of the renowned Oldsmobile muffler will also showcase its latest achievement in electric and fuel cell technologies which is the next iteration of the E-Flex electric architecture. This second variant of E-Flex system that will make its first appearance in Shanghai makes use of GM's new fifth-generation fuel cell propulsion technology and a lithium-ion battery.

The system was first launched last January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in the form of the Chevrolet Volt concept vehicle. Chevy's Volt will also be displayed at GM's stand for the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show.

Aside from the Buick Riviera and E-Flex system there would be other concept vehicles that are going to be displayed on the GM stand such as the Chevrolet Camaro sports car, the Chevrolet WTCC race car, and the Cadillac Cien sedan.

Production Vehicles on Display In addition to the concept vehicles, GM together with its joint ventures are also going to display its array of products that are currently or will soon be offered in China such as the following:
Another new addition to the Buick range is the Buick Park Avenue luxury sedan which is the brand's top-of-the-line model. The rest of Buick lineup includes the three members of the Excelle family, Buick LaCrosse premium sedan, and Shanghai's best-selling model the Buick GL8 executive wagon.

The Cadillac which is GM's American luxury brand has displayed all five vehicles that are presently being offered in China. One of the best-selling Cadillac products, the Cadillac SLS luxury business sedan is making its first appearance at the Auto Shanghai.

Chevrolet has also presented its range of cars starting off with its Chevrolet Spark mini-car and the all new Chevrolet Epica intermediate sedan which has started selling last March. The Chevrolet Aveo hatchback together with the popular Chevrolet Lova compact sedan will also be put on display at the GM stand.

GM's Opel import brand from Germany will also show for the first time in China its two new models, the Opeal Astra GTC that features a panorama windshield that provide both the driver as well as the front seat passenger with an unlimited field of vision. Passengers also get to experience their surroundings with a feel just like being inside the cockpit of an airplane since there is no crossbeam that is limiting the view. The Opel Astra Twin Top which was launched in Europe last May 2006 is a slimline four-seat cabrio-coupe and the first car in its class to feature an innovative three-part roof system.

Saab, which is GM's premium brand from Sweden, is displaying four members of its Saab 9-3 family that includes the Convertible, Sporthatch, Linear sedan, and vector sedan. Also joining the display is the Saab 9-5 Aero sedan.

The Wuling mini-vehicle brand from SAIC-GM-Wuling is going to be represented by the Hong Tu minivan which is making its first appearance at the Shanghai auto show. The Sunshine minivan which is GM China family's most popular model will also be displayed at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Shanghai Auto show began last April 22 and will run through April 28 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. The vehicles of GM and its joint ventures are on display on the GM stand in Hall E1.

The Hummer is the result of General Motor's quest to come up with a vehicle that could rival the iconic Jeep brand of Chrysler. Compared to other automakers the growth of General Motors' Hummer brand is measured in pounds shed and inches lost as oppose to the usual increase in dimensions. But although this is the trend for the Hummer it still make sure that it maintains quality throughout the range by utilizing only quality auto components such as flowmaster muffler which includes Hummer brand mufflers.

The H1 which is the original Hummer, possess military heritage combined with technology and combat-proven durability. Although it was considered as an army's general best friend in duty it was still too big for urban use. After the H1 came H2. It was made smaller than the H1 but still considered enormous for urban dwellers.

Then came, the H3 which is further reduced in size as compared to its H2 brother but despite the size reduction it still takes up road space as compared to that of a Toyota Camry. But according to some sources inside GM, the automaker is developing a new Hummer that's smaller as compared to its predecessors.

The new Hummer will obviously be called H4 and designed to target the compact and crossover segment. According to Hummer's general manager Martin Walsh, the H4 is going to be paired in development with another GM product. Walsh said during an interview with GoAuto, "Our growth will be downwards in terms of size . . . opportunities will lie in smaller segments."

General Motors has not yet released any statement on whether the production of the H4 will be made into a global effort but judging by GM's desire to market the Hummer as a global brand it is not a remote possibility that Holden or Opel may also be involved in the project.

However there is one issue that the brand will have to face when it comes to the H4 and it's in term of its design which somehow softens its hard-core image. And if ever Hummer would decide to use a monocoque chassis and independent suspension, which mostly customers prefer since it provides better comfort and more car-like road holding, the brand would face backlash from Hummer enthusiasts as well as the off-roading community similar to what Jeep experienced when it launched the Dodge Caliber-based Compass.

In addition, a company insider said that in order for the automaker to maintain the strong image of the Hummer, the H4 would be made to ride on a separate chassis, showcasing a different approach, breakover and departure angles with copious amounts of ground clearance. The H4 will also possess some of the vital Hummer design cues. With the H4 made smaller, more efficient, and more affordable, Hummer predicts that it could sell between 30,000 and 40,000 units which are rather low considering the fact that Hummer sold almost 70,000 vehicles in 2006.

Hummer also plans to expand their H3 product range. And in addition to selling the current model globally with right-hand drive and diesel powertrain options, it is expected that an "SUT" truck version will also arrive next year. This is a smart idea, considering that the H3 wagon is based on GM's compact Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon pickups.

Insiders further say that it will initially be offered as a four-door crew-cab, and will be followed by a regular or extended cab, which would help the Hummer brand to gain a new market and access to the compact pickup arena. General Motors have opted to invest greatly in the Hummer brand a few years back, and with its expansion to smaller vehicles that are better suited to non-North American markets and environmentally conscious buyers, its investments are finally paying off.

Consumer participation is now a characteristic of Chevrolet. Chevy wants its customers to participate in its manufacturing process.

The car maker decided to build three mini car concepts, the Beat, Groove and Trax. But Chevey is leaving it up to the people, meaning its customers and supporters to decide which one they like best. The public can vote for which concept is most appealing by logging on to www.vote4chevrolet.com. There is, however, no guarantee that the highest vote getter will be built. Nonetheless, General Motors says it will help guide the development of a future global mini car their company. These mini cars are expected to be similar as the next generation of cars like the Opel Corsa, Daewoo Matiz and other models around the world.

Chevrolet mufflers, however, were not detailed in the auto show. But as the car always has, each Chevrolet muffler is designed to make every single vote worthy.

To get to know the candidates and to rightly choose the best, here are brief descriptions of the three mini cars:

The Beat comes in green. It is by far the sportiest among the three, with its slicked back styling and comparatively large 1.2L turbo engine matched to an automatic transmission. Technically described as a "tuner" car, the Beat is meant to be customized much like a Scion to an owner's own individual tastes. It can therefore be personalized.

The Beat is a front-wheel drive, three-door hatch with an automatic transformer to divvy up the tiny motor's available power. It is the only mini car among the three with an interior.

The Groove concept comes in black. It is much like a mini HHR, which is a five-door wagon with a spacious height in the interior and flat sides. Its extremely short hood, big wheel arches and nonexistent overhangs mean that every square inch of the platform is utilized. This is considered the most practical concept of the three. Also a front-driver, the Groove is powered by a 1L diesel engine.

Of the Chevrolet triplets the Groove is the only one powered by a diesel engine as its principal. It has no interior other than a steering wheel.

A 1.0L engine will power the Groove's driving in the front wheels of this "Funkistalgia" design.

Finally, there is the Trax. It comes in orange. The Trax concept is the best to feign even the slightest ability to venture off the beaten path. It's the only one of the three that features round headlights, though its four-door, upright box-like packaging resembles that of the Groove concept.

The Chevy Trax concept has the most utilitarian look with a matte-finished lower body like the Honda Element), faux skid plates and pronounced fender flares. The 1.0L gas engine provides motivation to the front wheels; while a battery pack and electric motor will drive the rears on an as-needed basis providing a low-cost, efficient all-wheel drive system to this urban cross-over. Unfortunately, like the Groove, this concept also has no interior. But it has a well finished exterior with a lot of attractive design details for an entry-level vehicle.

The platform of all three concepts is being developed at GM Daewoo in Korea.

According to company figures, Toyota sold 2.348 million vehicles in the first three months of 2007.

That compares with General Motors' sales of 2.26 million cars and small trucks during the same period.

Japanese carmakers have been boosting foreign sales and making gains in the US, the world's largest car market.

The recent spikes in the price of gasoline have forced car buyers to look for more fuel efficient vehicles which in turn affected car manufacturers. Automakers are now focusing on the development of smaller cars which are considered more fuel efficient than large vehicles such as sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks.

Car manufacturers like the Toyota Motor Corporation, the Honda Motor Corporation and the Ford Motor Company have developed and produced fuel efficient vehicles using the hybrid technology. While hybrid vehicles boast of a good fuel economy, they are priced much higher than conventional gasoline engined vehicles.

While hybrid vehicles are popular in the United States, in the European car market, clean diesel engines are viewed as a better answer to the growing threat of global warming. German car companies such as Mercedes Benz and Audi have been developing and producing clean diesel engines. Following the steps of these European brands is a Japanese brand - Nissan. The car company's chief executive officer recently announced that they will be offering a clean diesel engined car in the United States in the near future. This is an effort to address the growing demand for fuel efficient vehicles which are also environment friendly.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced just recently that they will be releasing a diesel powered Maxima in the United States auto market by the year 2010. The announcement made auto industry experts to predict that Nissan will be offering vehicles which closely resemble those made by German car manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi.

Aside from the United States, Nissan will also release the diesel Maxima in other countries like Japan and China. Currently, diesel-powered Nissan vehicles with or without Nissan vent visors are made available by the Asian brand in the European car market.

In developing a clean diesel engine for future vehicles to be released in the global market, Nissan is expected to solicit the help of its partner, the French car manufacturer Renault. The development and subsequent release of clean diesel engines by Nissan is a step towards meeting stricter emission standards that will take effect in the near future. These technologically advanced diesel engines are also considered to be Nissan's effort to protect the environment amidst growing concerns about the threat of global warming.

"Nissan is fully engaged in reducing emissions and improving fuel economy and efficiency. Launching a clean diesel engine in the U.S. will offer customers the benefits of fuel economy, CO2 reduction and a satisfying, fun-to-drive performance that is a hallmark of the Nissan brand," says Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn. "You can expect to see more diesel engines in our product lineup in Europe, Japan, North America and China by fiscal year 2010," added Ghosn.

In Europe, diesel engines are increasingly becoming popular. That is why Nissan is currently offering the said engine in that region. New technologies made these diesel engines perform better and produce less greenhouse gases. In the United States, diesel engines have received a bad reputation in the past decades which makes them not as popular as gas electric hybrid vehicles which seems to be the current trend in the industry.

Last year, Nissan revealed their "Green Program" which focuses on the reduction of greenhouse gas emission. This is one of the major steps being taken by the Asian brand to support the effort of the United States government and a large portion of its citizens to become energy independent.

One of the major attributes of cars looked at by car buyers is their dependability. That is why car manufacturers are always looking for ways to improve their vehicle's reliability. A typical car usually shows its weaknesses and become prone to breakdowns when it has reached a certain number of years in use. But car manufacturers count on the reliability of their vehicles during the early stage of ownership.

A reputation of a brand is at stake during this stage and this would be if a vehicle exhibits poor quality during the early stages of ownership, it will of course give the vehicle's manufacturer a bad reputation. Some of the most dependable brands are Lexus and Honda while Ford, Toyota, and Nissan are not left far behind.

In a recent study conducted by the RDA Group, it has been found out that the quality of Ford's vehicles is equal to that of Nissan and Toyota vehicles. The said study was conducted for the Ford Motor Company. It is conducted to give consumers an idea which brand offers the best dependability. Aside from the fact that Ford has equaled Asian brands in terms of dependability, the study also found out that Honda is the most dependable auto brand. This gives the Japanese brand a boost in its reputation as the car company surge forward to increase their brand's popularity in the United States auto market.

During the study, the research firm interviewed 31,000 owners of new vehicles. These respondents are asked to list the problems they have met with their new vehicles in the first three months of ownership. The study is only concerned about vehicles released for the 2007 model year. Cars and trucks from major automobile brands are considered for the study.

Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands collectively are rated almost equal to Nissan and Toyota brands. The study reported that for the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands, there are 1,456 problems encountered per 1,000 vehicles checked. For Nissan, the dependability of their vehicles and parts such as their Nissan water pump is rated lower than Ford but almost equal to the U.S. brand.

For every 1,000 Nissan vehicles, the study found out that there are 1,456 problems encountered. For Toyota, the study reported that there are 1,453 problems encountered every 1,000 new vehicles. Meanwhile, Honda was found out as the most dependable car brand when new Honda owners reported 1,313 problems met for every 1,000 vehicles.

For Ford, this study will surely give their reputation a boost. After the recalls of their Escape and the F-Series Super Duty truck, Ford needs to improve their image with regards to dependability. Indeed, Ford is becoming a serious competition for Asian brands in terms of quality. In the midsize car class, the study found out that there are less problems encountered in the Ford Fusion than the Honda Accord or the Toyota Camry. The growing threat of global warming and the depletion of fossil fuels has forced the auto industry to venture in the development of auto technologies which will reduce dependence on fossil fuels. One technology being explored by car manufacturers is the possible advent of electric cars.

Currently, the auto industry has successfully developed hybrid electric vehicles and fully-electric vehicles as well. These vehicles use an electric motor to aid the vehicle's internal combustion engine. One major issue being faced by the auto industry when it comes to the construction of hybrid electric and even fully-electric vehicles is the battery pack which a vehicle needs to have so as to get and store power.

To address the issue, car manufacturers are partnering with other companies outside the auto industry to develop better battery packs for electric cars. One car company which has expressed its dedication to the development of better battery packs is the Japanese car company Nissan. The company recently announced that they have formed an alliance with NEC Tokin, which is a subsidiary of NEC, to develop highly efficient lithium-ion batteries for automotive application.

The partnership aims to make the electric cars more practical. A problem being faced by the electric car technology is the cost of production. If a partnership such as this can find a way to make an electric car's battery cheaper, then electric cars can be within the reach of an even larger number of consumers.

The partnership between two of Japan's biggest companies will work on the safety and stability of lithium-ion batteries. This kind of battery is seen as a better alternative to the nickel-metal hydride batteries which is being widely used currently. Lithium-ion batteries weigh less than nickel-metal hydride batteries. It is also more powerful than Ni-MH batteries. In fact, lithium-ion batteries are half the size of nickel-metal hydride batteries but they can store twice as much power as the Ni-MH battery. This battery pack can efficiently power an electric car or its amenities such as power windows controlled by a Nissan window switch.

Investing in the development of an advanced battery pack will positively affect Nissan. After all, it is predicted that the rechargeable car battery market will experience a surge in the near future. The expected expansion of the said market will be the effect of the advent of electric cars. It can be expected that as car manufacturers come up with ways to bring the cost of production, the public will certainly buy these environment friendly vehicles.

Car manufacturers are already developing plug-in hybrid cars which show that the future of electric cars is coming pretty soon.

The call for eco-friendly vehicles has made automakers from the US and Japan to compete for the cash, hearts, and mind of the growing green car buyers. And presently it seems like the Japanese brands Toyota and Honda are leading the green vehicle department.

Honda maker of Honda exhaust system and Toyota have provided green car buyers with solutions in the shaped of modern design hybrid cars which were very much welcomed in both US and Japan reflected by the huge sales that these two hybrid brands have obtained. The success of hybrid vehicles has also reached other countries as a matter of fact the Irish government has responded positively to the arrival of hybrids in their market. It has given 50 percent Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) rebate on hybrids. This is the government's way of encouraging the Irish people to purchase hybrid vehicles.

Despite the alluring tax incentive that the government is offering it is not enough to convince people to purchase a hybrid vehicle. People buy cars based on three factors and these are looks, performance, and price. Honda Civic and Toyota are very much aware of this and that's why they have taken the effort to create the Honda Civic IMA and the Toyota Prius in accordance to the preference of their customers.

Honda hybrid cars make use of advanced Honda exhaust technology that lessens harmful emissions same with Toyota although it employs a different exhaust system but the end product is just the same. The new Civic IMA hybrid leads in terms of strict engine performance. Its 1.3 liter Honda engine and 10 kW electrical system revs up a total of 115 bhp while the 1.5 liter petrol Prius produces only 76 bhp. At the heart of the Civic IMA is the new Honda Hybrid System which is consists of a new 1.3 liter 3-stage iVTEC engine plus Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) ---which explains the IMA in its name. The new Honda Hybrid System makes use of intelligent engine functions plus it is said to give the performance similar to that of a 1.8 liter engine while improving fuel economy, achieving very low levels of exhaust emissions, and reducing the system size by five percent.

The Honda Civic IMA's 3-stage iVTEC engine utilizes three hydraulic pathways to couple and uncouple five rocker arm assembles, providing three stages of valve control depending on the driving conditions---to achieve a combination of responsive driving and fuel economy. In times of deceleration when the cylinder are idle, the combustion in all four cylinders is stopped and sealed shut, which reduces pumping losses caused by the engine aspiration for a ten percent improvement in recovery of braking energy. Everything has been done on the IMA to reduce friction and that includes the use of aluminum die-cast pistons.

The electric motor system of Honda utilizes coils with high-density windings and high-performance magnets to achieve high output. The inverter that is used to control the motor speed is integrated with the motor's EGU for more precise digital control which is said to contribute to an even greater motor efficiency and fuel economy.

The battery output of the IMA has also been increased by almost 30 percent. Honda also claims that the IMA's more compact, custom-designed battery storage box provides better cooling performance as well as vibration resistance for long term reliability.

The regenerative braking system of the IMA is engaged hydraulically to allow optimum braking regeneration along with smooth deceleration that conforms to brake-pedal pressure. IMA's air conditioner unit features a hybrid compressor that is powered by both the engine and the motor. In case rapid cooling is needed it is powered by the engine and the motor combined. Once the temperature is stable it runs off the motor alone for improved comfort and fuel savings.

The performance of both the Prius and Civic hybrids is almost similar however the Civic IMA is better in styling. Honda's designers have ensured that the appeal of the IMA would match the tastes of modern audience.

The United States auto market is known for the demand for larger vehicles like sport utility vehicles and even full-size sedans. In fact, American motorists are still looking for larger cars to drive even with the increasing price of gasoline. This makes the auto market even more competitive. Since consumers are also looking for fuel efficient cars, they still want bigger sized cars and vehicles.

Car manufacturers need to focus their attention to developing and producing large vehicles with good fuel efficiency. This is already addressed by different car manufacturers. In fact, a top official for the surging Toyota Motor Corporation said that the pressure will be on automotive engineers to come up with a vehicle that will both address the size of the vehicle and the fuel economy issue.

David Baxter, a Senior Executive Administrator of the Toyota Technical Center located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, said and emphasized on the demand of the auto market particularly in the North America. He said that consumers are looking for bigger sized vehicles and it would be the job of automotive engineers to come up with a vehicle that will satisfy their needs while meeting stricter emission regulations and support the United State's energy independence goal.

During the Society of Automotive Engineers annual convention, Baxter said: "Especially in North America, people like the size of their vehicles, and there's going to be a lot of pressure to maintain the size for safety and improve fuel economy."

Aside from the size, Baxter also pointed out that consumers will also be looking for vehicles loaded with safety features to go along with size and fuel economy. But he stressed that that does not mean that the vehicles of the near future will not be all hybrids or small cars.

Baxter is of course part of Toyota which is known for their vehicles' fuel efficiency. The company is currently enjoying much success in the U.S. auto market. The Japanese company's success is mainly due to strong sales of their efficient cars like the Toyota Corolla and the Toyota Camry. Add to that the fast selling fuel miser that is the Prius. These vehicles are seen as more fuel efficient that the sedans manufactured by General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, the U.S.' Big Three.

The current challenge for them is to develop a large vehicle with an incredibly high gas mileage rating for its class. The Toyota Avalon, Toyota's entry to the full-size sedan market, is also considered as one of the most fuel efficient vehicles in its class. The Toyota Avalon was designed at Toyota's technical center where Baxter is currently the administrator.

While Toyota recently release a hybrid version of the mid-size Camry sedan, Baxter did not divulge at the convention whether Toyota will be offering a hybrid version of the Avalon. Instead, Baxter has this to say about the issue: "It's likely there will be more hybrid vehicles or more hybrid powertrains available in our models in the future."

In connection with the challenge posed on automotive engineers, Toyota will be expanding their technical center at Ann Arbor. This is to help the company design more fuel efficient and bigger sized cars, which according to Baxter, are what the public is looking for. Baxter also furthermore reported that the technical center has already hired 780 persons and Toyota is planning to add 500 more engineers to assist in the whole development process.

The planned new technical center will be tasked to design vehicles that will meet the demand of North American consumers meaning larger cars with good fuel economy and a Toyota logo just above the Toyota bumper. He said that the new plant is expected to help the company as their U.S. business expands more in the next several years.

Although Baxter maintained that Toyota will be putting in effort on the development of larger and fuel efficient vehicles, he also pointed out that in the near future, even a company as large as theirs or maybe even General Motors will be joining forces with other car manufacturers. He said that the development of safety features, fuel efficient technologies, and other issues will be more cost efficient if a partnership with other automakers is made.

Traffic safety is one of the major concerns of auto manufacturers. That is why a group of car manufacturers have been formed to continually develop safety devices for their vehicles. One of the newcomers to the group is Ford Motor Company.

The Dearborn based company announced just recently that they will be sharing their expertise to the group's effort. The Global Human Body Models Consortium LLC, as the group is named, was formed on April of last year. The group's aim is to develop human body models which will allow them to design better life saving devices.

Ford has joined other car manufacturers in the group. DaimlerChrysler AG., the General Motors Corp., Honda Motor Co., Hyundai Motor Co., Nissan Motor Corp., the PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Renault s.a.s., Takata Corp., the Toyota Motor Corp. and the TRW Inc. are the other members of the consortium.

Ford made known that they would be making their human body model available to the group. For 14 years now, the company has been developing computer human body models which they have been using to develop restraint systems for their vehicles which complement Ford bumpers which are designed to absorb most of the energy generated during a front end collision. The company has developed the most advanced computer human body model which shows the bodies of human beings in microscopic details.

The said model allows researchers to study how certain car crashes affect a person. The full human body model is the most advanced model ever developed by a car manufacturer. The model's most advanced feature is the detailed representation of the human brain and internal organs.

In 1993, the company started the model bit by bit. Through the years, the company has created computer models of different body parts. The head, neck, ribcage, abdomen, thoracic and lumbar spine, internal organs of the chest and abdomen, pelvis, and the upper and lower extremities were developed from 1993 until 2004.

In 2004, the different parts were brought together to form a detailed and very complete human body model. During the construction of the model, researchers for Ford gathered data from MRI scans and human anatomy texts. After the construction of the model, Ford researchers validated it by cadaver testing. Volunteer human testing was also done to make sure that the model indeed represents the human body in a very detailed form.

"The Human Body Model will help reduce physical testing on component and full-scale levels during vehicle development," says Dr. Saeed Barbat, the manager of the Passive Safety Research and Advanced Engineering for the Ford Motor Company. "It will also be used to develop more sophisticated instrumentation that could lead to more human-like crash dummies," added Barbat further. The human body model's most notable characteristic is the very detailed spine model. The company has succeeded in creating a model spine with all the vertebrae segments and cartilage present. Aside from that, the detailed human brain model also allow researchers to study how a person's head can be damaged by certain crashes and thereby allowing them to create a device or safety feature to prevent severe brain damage caused by car crashes.

The consortium will be able to use this technology developed by Ford to create better restraint systems to further protect motorists. The group has already asked for proposals from different research and university groups all over the e world. From these proposals, the group is planning to select five which will be tasked to study the reaction of different body parts in cases of crashes. The group has announced that the Phase One of their plan is the development of six computer human body models. Large, medium, and small male and female models will have to be created which will be used in the next phase of their plan. The group projects that the six models will be developed by the year 2011.

New Chevrolet R07 to be tested at the Texas Motors Speedway

Big changes are taking place over NASCAR and for this coming weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway another transformation will be taking place. While the Nextel Cup drivers are driving their old familiar cars which they have been driving for years after the first two races in the Car of Tomorrow, the rest of the Chevrolet entries are to be powered by a new engine.

Chevrolet maker of the quality Chevrolet exhaust system, has been developing an engine for nine years now and for the first time it will make its racing debut in Samsung 500. "This engine now called the R07 actually started out as R99 because we ran it the first time in 1999," said Mark Cronquist, chief engine builder for Joe Gibbs Racing. He also added, "There was an R03. There was an R05 that never got off of the chalkboard, basically. We had it all designed, but never made it. Then there's this one, R07. So really, this R07 has been worked on by GM teams since 1998. I've got notes in my office from the very first time we talked about this engine. It was January 1998."

The process was rather frustrating but at the end it was worth the wait said Cronquist and "the awesome thing is that, if you look at R09 and R07, they don't even look alike, so I'm glad NASCAR never approved it. It had some updates, but every time NASCAR didn't approve it, we went back and worked harder on it and changed more things on it."

For this coming weekend it is expected that six teams will run the new engine. Gibbs Racing will place an R07 in the cars of Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, and J.J. Yeley Hendrick Motorsports' Casey Mears and Kyle Busch, and Scott Wimmer, driving a fourth Richard Childress Racing entry.

General Motors world's largest automaker and distributor of Chevrolet exhaust is hoping to have the engine ready for this season's upcoming race but unfortunately a few technical difficulties slowed the progress of the project. Cronquist is very much excited to get the new engine into competition. He said, "With a motor we've been running, the block part of it was actually designed in 1955. We've made a few modifications to it, but it would still bolt into a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. The new block has got a lot more technology in it. Its more updated block than what we've ever had before."

When asked if the new engine produces more horsepower and torque or is more fuel efficient, Cronquist replied, "it's just better all over. We're finally more even with what Dodge and Toyota have. It kind of got us back in the same playing field, back in what's considered NASCAR's box. We were outside of the box, actually below the box. We had disadvantages and they finally let us get the same advantages that other manufacturers had over us. I don't think that we've really gotten into much of the performance part about it. A lot of it is that the shop needs just a lot less time to work on the parts and pieces of it. There's a lot of stuff in this block that's already cast into the block that we used to have to make ourselves and try to fit into our blocks. That took a lot of time and effort to do. If the performance comes, it will come because we're going to have a lot more time in our shop to work on it."

Cronquist further added, "A lot of it is that the shop needs just a lot less time to work on the parts and pieces of it. There's a lot of stuff in this block that's already cast into the block that we used to have to make ourselves and try to fit into our blocks. That took a lot of time and effort to do. If the performance comes, it will come because we're going to have a lot more time in our shop to work on it."

Chevrolet's 5 of 6 The Chevrolet team has gotten to a great start this year in Cup winning five of the six races. The reigning champion Jimmie Johnson has won three of the five races while Hendrick with teammates Kyle Busch, and RCR's Kevin Harvick have won the other two for GM. The victory of Matt Kenneth's at California Speedway in a Ford is the only blemish on Chevrolet's record for this season.

Out of the eight Chevy drivers that are currently in the top 10 in Cup points, two have won at Texas. The 2007 Dodge Magnum SRT8 is one sinister looking wagon and it's not just about the color. Wagons may not be the first choice by most when it comes to a cool conveyance but if utility is high on the priority list then there are always SUVs, vans and wagons.

Wagons provide as much cargo room without sacrificing a car's typically better ride, handling, braking, and acceleration. The Dodge Magnum SRT8 is like a Charger with a really big trunk which makes this wagon a match to SUVs and vans when it comes to loading cargoes.

These LX cars have proven quite a success for Chrysler and it's because of some very good reasons. It's based on the E-Class Mercedes platform, offer rear-drive, full-size comfort in a more refined package than what most American car buyers are used to. The price is also remarkable since it's very affordable.

The Hemi versions in particular offer a lot of features plus extras for the buck. But with the additional of the SRT badge, expect to get things a little more devilish.

The Drivetrain When it comes to vehicles it's always about the engine. Instead of the 5.7 liter Hemi, the SRT will have a smokin' 6.1 liter version with an additional 80 hp. The Street and Racing technology engineers worked with their black magic and created the classic Hemi orange block and black valve cover paint to remind customers of the powerful heritage of the SRT.

The hemispherical combustion chambers were viewed as the source of dominant power in the past. And that is also one of the reasons why the Hemi 'Cuda convertibles can cost over $2 million at auction today. The "Street hemi" of the 60s and 70s produced 425 horsepower from its 426 cubic inches of displacement. The present Hemi gets a similar output from less than 90 percent of that displacement.

The SRT team begins with a run-of-the-mill 5.7 then bores the cylinders by 3.5 mm, increases the compression ratio from 9.6:1 to 10.3:1, redesigns the cylinder heads, exhaust and intake systems for increased flow and hit the redline from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm. There was nothing more left with the standard 5.7 once the SRT team gets through with it--valves, cams, rods, manifolds, rods, crank, oil pan, pistons...you name it they've changed it all....Every single part. The block is also given more reinforcement and the result is a seemingly endless grunt whenever you have a need for it.

The output is also rated at 425 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 420 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm. This power is routed through the A580 five-speed AutoStick that may prove to be a little reluctant to downshift on its own. Upshifts are smooth and may prove to be unremarkable but once under full throttle they seem a bit abrupt. The transmission may not be the smoothest in the world but it enough for most accomplished drivers.

A tap to the right or left once in drive mode will enable drivers to hold a gear which will be displayed on the dash. And the best thing about automatic is that it makes burnouts as simple as pressing both pedals for a second or two before letting the brakes out. Never forget to disengage the ESP traction control unless you want to change tires already.

The Suspension Since the Dodge Magnum SRT8 is a large vehicle weighing 4,260 lbs it is best to start with the brakes. The SRT despite its size is capable of decelerating from 70 to 0 mph in approximately 170 feet. It can also do the quarter-mile in the mid 13s and can also do 0 to 100 to 0 mph in the mid 16-second range. That's one serious stopping power courtesy of the 14.2 inch front and 13.8 inch rear vented Brembos.

These Brembos are strong and easily modulated even when it means reducing a triple-digit velocity by half in one emergency maneuver. It just did what it is asked to do without any problem. The brakes that reside within the large, 20-inch polished 5 spokes, wrapped in 245/45 Goodyear F1 summer tires provide excellent gripping performance.

The SRT's special shocks, modified spring rates, different bushings, plus the big anti-sway bars create a huge change to the handling. The vehicles height is also lowered by just one-half inch but it feels like it's lowered by a lot more. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) has also been reprogrammed to provide a slightly more antisocial behavior before cutting in. The riding comfort that one gets from the SRT8 will make you wonder why all suspensions are not tuned in a similar manner.

The Exterior The exterior appeal of the Magnum SRT8 is charming and compelling. No other wagon has been as successful as the Magnum SRT8 has been able to stir the soul so thoroughly. The Dodge Ram crosshair grille, tapering roofline, and raised beltline exudes power and muscle. The Dodge Magnum SRT8 is available in Brilliant Black, Bright Silver or Inferno Red Crystal Pearlcoat.

Chrysler's Eagle The Dodge Magnum SRT8 is not the first powerful vehicle that Chrysler has developed. The Eagle Talon which was one of the three model names given to a passenger car manufactured and sold by the then Chrysler Corporation and Mitsubishi Motors of Japan in a joint venture known as the Diamond Star Motor, between 1990 and 1998.

The Talon was then sold under the Eagle brand developed by Chrysler to compete with Japanese imports in the late 1980s. The other siblings of the Talon were the Eclipse which was sold by Mitsubishi and the Laser which was sold by Plymouth another Chrysler brand. Both Plymouth and Eagle has been discontinued but despite this fact the production of Eagle parts like the Eagle exhaust continues. The Eagle exhaust is renowned for performance and power.

The Eagle Talon together with the Eclipse and the Laser were built on the same platform at the DSM manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois. The three vehicles were mechanically identical including engine, transmission, and drivetrain. In terms of exterior features the three cars only differ in wheels, tail lights, availability of colors, front and rear bumpers, and spoilers.

And speaking of colors the Eagle Talon has a two-tone body color, which is called the 'greenhouse'. Starting from its roof, pillars, door-mounted mirrors the color was always black regardless of the body color.

One outstanding thing about the Talon is its success compared to the Eagle nameplate which was a huge flop for Chrysler. While the Eagle failed to gain any market share from Pontiac which was its main rival, the Talon on the other hand was a stellar success and the only Eagle model that was profitable. Ford's Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally recently made the company's dedication towards protecting the environment his topic while talking at the Lied Center in Kansas City. He talked about the power of working together and the need for it. During the course of his speech, he also shared his experiences in life to those present during his speech.

The Chief Executive Officer of the United States' second largest car manufacturer claimed that he loves the idea of working together. In fact, working together is the main topic of his talk. He talked about his tenure as the President and the Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Planes. Mulally said that it is of utmost importance that a leader should put people first and include everyone on the project as well. And to make it possible, Mulally said that communication is needed and is entirely very important for the whole process. "The biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it occurs," says Mulally. "The fact that you say something and expect them to know what it means; that's arrogant," says the Kansas University alumnus.

Mulally stressed out that there is a need for coworkers to be on the same page. They should be able to work on a single plan with everyone pitching in on the job at hand. Mulally said that when a problem surfaced in the workplace, he wants to be working with people who can find a way to address the situation and solve the problem. He also said that he saw that kind of people at the institution. "There is not an institution in the world that has more motivated, more skilled and neater students than the University of Kansas," says Mulally.

During his speech, he recounted his experiences in life as a young man working odd jobs in Lawrence. He said that his career started delivering newspapers. After that, he became a bag boy for Dillon's grocery store in the area. He left the job after he was inspired by then President John F. Kennedy to become an astronaut. He was at that time taking up liberal arts but then he switched to aeronautical and astronautical engineering at the University of Kansas. After he switched courses though, he was told that he is not fit to be an astronaut because he is slightly color blind.

After he graduated from the University of Kansas, he was told by a professor at the university to try to get a work at Boeing. The said professor has then recently left Boeing. After that, he was hired at Boeing and after some years joined Ford Motor Company as the new CEO. In connection with him being the current CEO of Ford, he also talked about their company's effort to protect the environment. He talked about several alternative fuels which are aimed to reduce the amount of damage that vehicle emissions are doing to the environment. He also tackled and dissected his thoughts on the problems that are being faced by the auto industry pertaining to the use of alternative fuels.

For example, he cited the use of bio-ethanol, while using ethanol as substitute for gasoline; it will need a lot of raw materials to supply the country with its needed fuel.

That is why Ford, with Mulally at the helm, is developing technologies that will reduce the dependency of the auto industry on petroleum products. Several Ford models with Ford fenders and other Ford auto parts are already offered with a hybrid version to reduce the amount of gasoline that they have to consume.

While there are already environment friendly vehicles out in the market, Mulally thinks that it is not enough. "The auto industry only accounts for 15 percent of carbon dioxide emissions, so the whole country needs to work together," says Ford's CEO.

The motorsport scene in the United States can be said as arguably one of the most competitive in the world. Season after season, racing teams always come up with more and more improvements for their vehicles.

The NASCAR sanctioned races are the most competitive races in the United States and teams are always pursuing victories by improving their vehicles' performance. Team Chevy is one of the teams going for the win on every race they participate in.

Recently, the team introduced the Impala SS race car at the NASCAR Nextel Cup. That development is now being followed by the announcement of a new engine that will be used on the Impala SS which comes in the form of the Chevrolet RO7 engine. The engine will make its debut at the Samsung 500 which will be held at the Texas Motor Speedway.

The RO7 is based on General Motors' small-block V8 engines. It will be replacing the Small-Block/2nd Generation engine which the team has been using since 1998. The SB2 will be replaced completely by the RO7 eventually. For now, the RO7 is expected to provide better performance for the team's cars.

Mark Kent, the director of GM Racing, outlined their objectives in the development of the new engine and the subsequent reaction after tests conducted on the engine in this statement: "The GM Racing engine development team had four key objectives in mind throughout the design and development of the Chevrolet R07 engine. Our goal was to create an engine that produces competitive power, delivers excellent reliability, enhances safety, and reduces costs for Chevrolet teams. Based on the feedback we have received from Chevy teams after extensive dynamometer and track testing, I believe we have achieved our objectives."

The RO7 is the first engine that GM built solely for the purpose of NASCAR racing. According to Pat Suhy, the GM Racing Group Manager for the Oval Track, "The Chevrolet R07 is GM Racing's first purpose-built NASCAR racing engine. NASCAR's parameters for the new generation of engines provide a range of choices on key dimensions and design features. Our job was to make the critical decisions and carefully balance the tradeoffs that would enable the Chevrolet R07 to continue Chevy's success in NASCAR. In the long run, the results will show whether we made the right choices."

The major parts for the RO7 engine like the cylinder block, the cylinder head, and the intake manifold came from GM Racing. Other components supplied by GM Racing are the water pump assembly, rocker covers, and front cover. Other components like the Chevy fenders were provided by different manufacturers. Engine components are also supplied by different independent parts manufacturers.

Meanwhile, Jim Covey, the NASCAR engine development manager for GM Racing, has this to say how GM was able to create the newest engine for the Impala SS: "New manufacturers coming into NASCAR pushed the envelope with engines that had no links to production powerplants, while GM engines were based on the architecture of the first small-block V. NASCAR Nextel Cup Series director John Darby addressed this issue by developing a list of parameters that define the envelope for all manufacturers, thus giving Chevrolet an opportunity to develop the R07 engine. Now with the introduction of the Chevrolet R07, Chevy teams have an optimized engine design that reflects the advances in racing technology that have been made over the last 50 years."

Major differences between the SB2 and the RO7 include the increased cylinder bore centers in the RO7 which improves coolant flow keeping the engine at its normal operating temperature. Another improvement of the RO7 over the SB2 is the time needed to assemble the engines. The RO7's cast camshaft tunnel, integral piston squirter galleries and overhead oil feed galleries makes it faster to assemble than its predecessor. As far as safety is concerned, the designers of the new engine moved the fuel pump which eliminates external oil and coolant lines.

Team Chevy is no doubt counting on the combination of the Impala SS and the new RO7 engine achieve more wins. According to Mark Kent: "The introduction of the Chevrolet R07 this weekend marks the beginning of a new era for the GM small-block V-8 engine. The Chevrolet R07 is the heir to the winning tradition of GM production-based engines that have powered Chevy to more than 600 victories in NASCAR Cup competition. As we look to the future, we are confident that the Chevrolet R07 engine and the Impala SS race car will continue Team Chevy's winning ways in NASCAR."

The General Motors Corp. is suspending its plans for virtually all new rear-wheel drive cars. The decision of the automaker is anchored on the impending threat of stricter fuel economy standards to be enforced by the federal government.

The largest automaker is bothered that the increasing mileage requirements will penalize the company for producing new versions of high-performance rear-wheelers. This is why GM is derailing the production of all but a few of its product lines.

The information about the change in plans of the auto giant was confirmed Wednesday by Bob Lutz, GM's product czar. The automaker did not give specifics about the plan. Moreover, the move could mean enthusiasts will never see a rear-wheel replacement for the Buick Lucerne and the Chevrolet Impala sedans or a small rear-drive Cadillac compact. The bumper as well as other distinct auto parts from the automaker could be facing extinction.

Nonetheless, the Chevy Camaro sports coupe, which is scheduled to be released next year along with the Pontiac G8 sedan, is still in the works. The vehicle is now being assembled by Holden, a GM subsidiary in Australia. Now, it seems, most of those plans are off. "It's too late to stop Camaro, but anything after that is questionable or on the bubble," said Lutz. "We'll decide on our rear-drive cars when the government decides on CO2 levels and CAFE regulations."

"It says they are making a commitment to maximizing fuel economy and maximizing fuel efficiency, and that makes sense," said Tom Libby, an analyst with the J.D. Power and Associates' Power Information Network.

The government administration intends to limit America's dependence on foreign oil 20 percent by 2017. Additionally, it intends to raise fuel economy standards to an average of four percent per year. That would bring cars to an average 34 mpg by 2017. The figure is up by 27.5 mpg today. Further, the Supreme Court ruled last week that the Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to regulate cars' carbon dioxide emissions.

Lutz has been a scathing critic of the Bush plan, arguing that such a mandate could add $5,000 to the average cost of vehicles. "It would bring the market to a standstill," he said in an interview during the New York Auto Show. "We've pushed the pause button. It's no longer full speed ahead."

The Ford Motor Co. spokesman Jim Cain said its plans already are heavy on vehicles that feature fuel-saving technologies, with no all-new rear-drive cars in the works. Ford, however, will continue producing new versions of its Mustang muscle car.

DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group, on the other hand, said last Wednesday it has no plans to back away from that market. The Auburn Hills automaker has plans to revive the Dodge Challenger muscle car at the end of next year.

"We've had some great success with that architecture," said Rick Deneau, Chrysler Group spokesman. Fuel economy regulations aren't "affecting plans for anything we're going forward with." Instead, he said, Chrysler will focus on improving technology on rear-wheel drives to make them more fuel-efficient. It does, however, plan to ramp up investment in fuel-sipping small vehicles.

"You arrive at a balanced product plan and then you work on the technology to deliver the fuel economy that isn't just what the government requires, but what consumers expect," said Colleen O'Connor, a Chrysler spokeswoman.

A completely new model, the Audi S5 is the top of the 5 Series, a brand new range which is filled out with the A5 models. All look very similar, and provide good performance in a neat package. Stiff competition for the BMW 3 series coupe, but can it compete with the BMW 650i, Jaguar XK or Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG? Possibly.

In any event, the Audi S5 is a sleek looking coupe, with a front end reminiscent of the R8, and a semi-fastback roof line, and just discernible swept lines up and over the front and rear wheels. It is a smart looking car, and one that will blend in well at the country club. Like almost all Audi designs, the S5 and A5 are smart, balanced designs with some neat features, but there is nothing shocking, nothing very exciting about the shape.

V-8 power, 354 bhp

But what about performance? Well, Audi has picked its V-8 to give enough power to see off many competitors, although this is not the most powerful version of this superb engine. For the S5 it is rated at 354 bhp at 7,000 rpm, with 325 lb ft (440 Nm) torque at 3,500 rpm, against the 420 bhp of the RS4.

So it is not as fast as it might be, but still packs plenty of oomph, taking the S5 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, which is true supercar territory, while top speed is limited to 155 mph. This really puts it up with some heavy metal, although it is nowhere as quick as the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG, which has 480 bhp on tap from a massive 6.2 liter engine.

On the other hand, the straightline performance of the Audi A5 is slightly better than that of the BMW 650i and Jaguar XK, and up there with the likes of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911 Carrera.

The V-8 is coupled to a six-speed manual box in the S5. More important, Audi has adopted a front:rear torque split of 40:60% for the center differential. This means that in the normal state the car will not understeer strongly like the front-biased split of some Audi quattros. This means the car will handle nearer neutral, which is good.

Also new is the double-wishbone front suspension and trapezoidal multi-link rear suspension which will ensure good tracking and handling.

Each of the credit reporting agencies being Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion are obligated by law to comply with such request.

How can one improve the credit score? Naturally paying all the bills on time will have the biggest impact. Also each of those reports will contain the positive and negative information determining the overall score. Some of such can be erroneous and if so can be removed by one of the above companies. Also switching to new auto insurance after any particular derogatory remark in the report expires - as these all do - will have a positive impact on the insurance premium paid.

As a side note I will add that, at least for the insurance purposes, the basic credit score from the above agencies is all that is needed. Some other companies can sneak one into paying 'member fees' for a free report or even those ones I mention charge for the report if ordered through internet - but again the cost of a postal stamp is all that is required to get it.

And another thing to observe when shopping for insurance or particularly when buying a new car is that the insuring companies rate different models of vehicles in their own specific ways. For instance cars that have parts which are costly to replace will lean towards having higher insurance premiums. In like manner, autos that show in the stats to be stolen more often will also have their insurance costs going up compared to others.

One of the top international shows in the world has announced their dates for next year. The North American International Auto Show recently announced the dates for their show next year. Not only is the date set but the venue as well - the show is to be held at the Cobo Center in Detroit.

The organizers behind the motor show chose January 13 through 27, 2008 to hold the annual auto show. The schedule for the Press Preview was set from January 13 until 15 while Industry Preview Days are set on January 16 and 17. The Charity Preview will be held on January 17 next year and will be a black-tie affair. The remaining days, from January 19 to 27, are reserved as Public Days and these days would give chance to the public to view the wide array of vehicles that will be shown off at the said event.

The international motor show promises to be another great affair which is what Robert Thibodeau Jr. stressed in his statement. "Each year the NAIAS committee's goal is to offer a world-class event to thousands of media, industry insiders, enthusiasts and consumers who visit the show", said the senior co-chairman of the recently concluded 2007 North American International Auto Show. Following the success of this year's installment of the auto show, Thibodeau said that it was his honor "to serve as senior co-chairman for the NAIAS 2007".

"I proudly pass the leadership role over to 2008 senior co-chairman, Carl Galeana, and 2008 co-chairman, Joseph Serra. Together, they are sure to raise the bar once again", Thibodeau added.

This year's installment of the auto show has been deemed a success, drawing 6,000 media from 62 countries all over the world and from 42 states. The group gathered at the Cobo Center in Detroit to witness the amazing array of vehicles unveiled at the said event. The number of vehicles unveiled at the auto show reaches 55 and are unveiled in 39 press conferences. The annual auto show has among their participants Chinese carmaker Changfeng which is the first time that the Asian car manufacturer entered the said event. The auto show is once again broadcasted through NBC Sports which features it as a two-hour special, reaching a large number of viewers. Indeed, the organizers behind this year's auto show managed to run the event as smoothly as a Volvo fan clutch engaging the engine fan.

This year's episode of the prestigious auto show is made more special by the fact that they have reached a milestone this year. The 2007 North American International Auto Show marked their hundredth year. Through its hundred years of existence, the auto show has grown so much from an event that only featured 17 exhibitors to this year's 90 exhibitors. They also have for the first time had their web page in partnership with MSN.com Autos Web translated into six languages and were made available in ten MSN international markets where they have reached a huge number of media and vehicle enthusiasts all over the world. And with the support of the car industry capital that is Detroit, the auto show featured the most vehicle debuts more than any other motor show in North America.

Capitalizing on the passion for cars in Detroit, the auto show has grown to be an internationally sanctioned auto show. And next year they will be celebrating their 20th year of this international recognition. They have become the only motor show in the US to merit the distinguished sanction from the Organisation Internationlae des Constructeurs d'Automobiles, an alliance of automotive trade groups and car manufacturers all over the world.

It used to be Agent 007 enjoying the sweetest ride on the road. But that was before. Nowadays, each driver is given the opportunity to ride high-tech autos. That fact makes James Bond jealous for sure.

Spectacular auto features are now made available by automakers but they also come with awesome price tags. Nonetheless, these gadgets are worth it. From push-button parking to night vision systems, today's auto and car features are simply fascinating.

A few years ago, a vehicle could show the driver the location via digital map. The car could take control when it begins to skid. It could also automatically maintain a set of distance from the car in front. However, these auto features are becoming increasingly common. Hence, there has to be something more interesting and useful.

What's next? How about a car that parks itself? Drivers who are oftentimes faced with parking problems will find the Lexus Intelligent Park Assist system pretty much beneficial. The said feature is available on the Toyota Prius and offered as an option on the redesigned LS models. Essentially, the system enables the driver to pull up to an available parking space by just pressing a button. According to Lexus, the driver only has to apply a little braking pressure.

If you find the Intelligent Park Assist system not that beneficial, you may find a system that keeps an eye on blind spots interesting. According to statistics, many road accidents occur when the driver tries to change lanes without being aware of a vehicle in his "blind spot." This is the reason why Audi and Volvo formulated their versions of systems that answers this quandary.

Audi's Side Assist system, launched in the new 2007 Q7 SUV, uses radar to detect other vehicles. Volvo's Blind Spot Information System, available on the new S80 sedan, uses cameras. The systems are not complicated. It does not need the assistance of Audi rotors or of a Volvo head gasket to function well. It could function just with the rearview mirror. Both systems utilize LED displays near each outside rearview mirror to warn a driver that he should not try to change lanes because a car is in or is rapidly approaching a vehicle's blind spot.

Another high-tech auto feature is called the sophisticated night vision. BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz introduced updated versions of the Night Vision system, which was initially offered by Cadillac. The systems allow a driver to detect objects and passersby beyond the reach of a vehicle's headlights. The system uses infrared technology to sense heat from people, animals, stopped vehicles, and other objects up to several hundred feet in front of the car.

The precollision system is also awesome. The system is engineered to detect an impending collision and automatically adopt measures to avoid it. Some automakers use radar to detect and alarm and warning lights to alerts drivers of a possible crash. If the driver did not respond immediately, the system take the necessary steps like applying brakes, shutting windows, adjusting seat positions for maximum air-bag effectiveness, and activating safety-belt pretensioners. Lexus has formulated the Advanced Pre-Collision System (APCS) to avoid "preventable" collisions.

On-the-road entertainment is also booming. Portable audio systems like iPods and MP3 players are now auto compatible. Mercedes-Benz, for one, offers a glove-box-mounted iPod-docking station. It gives power for the iPod and enables the driver to use the car's steering-wheel to operate it. High Definition (HD) Radio systems and Bluetooth technology are also offered as part of the auto package.

This article is based on years of traveling in and out of Las Vegas to visit some of the most beautiful places on earth. Las Vegas can be a very inexpensive place to fly into.

AdventureZoneTOURS, that's what I should have named this article. That's how I like to travel. I want to be comfortable, have great adventure, for a reasonable amount of money.

For our budget, our trip into the Vegas airport begins on a Sunday thru Wednesday. The focus and goal of our trip is to get into the great outdoors. But, we like to stay the first couple of nights in Vegas and then the last couple of nights too, with the middle of the trip spent touring awesome places in the great Mohave Desert.

As soon as you get off the plane you know you are in Vegas and are bombarded by visual entertainment. Everything is bright and flashing, it seems like daytime even at night. Huge screens preview the available shows and entertainment in town. As you leave the airport you will find all modes of transport available along the street including taxis, limos & shuttle buses.

There are a lot of hotels to choose from. Many times I have stayed on the strip at Tropicana Ave. Returning to the car rental lot at the airport is just minutes from this part of the strip. There are many choices for hotels. There are thousands of hotel rooms and more being built every day. There are hotels on Las Vegas Blvd, more just off the strip and some just blocks away from the strip in downtown Las Vegas. Fremont Street has been canopied by tens of thousands of lights. The hotel/casinos in this area have almost a neighborhood feel. At night The Fremont Street Experience comes alive with lights, and music. It's feels almost like a block party.

Will you need a rental car? Many times your best deal on a rental is going to be for a weekly rental. Even if you rent for just 4 days, the weekly rental is normally a better deal. Normally, the car rentals work on a 24 hour period. For example if you pick up at 6 pm, your return would have to be by 6 pm of the day the car is suppose to be returned. Many times I will fly into Las Vegas and take one of the inexpensive shuttles to my hotel doorstep. Then the day I want to begin my weekly rental, I take a taxi to the rental location to pick up my car being careful to pick it up at the same time of day that I will be returning it the day of my departure. You can also consider renting your auto at one of the downtown off airport rental locations. This can save on the airport tax surcharges that are added on to your rental at the airport locations. As you choose your car rental, you might find that they have a location right at the hotel you choose to stay at.

Las Vegas has plenty of entertainment to enjoy, with shows that change from month to month. There are many free things to do as well. The water show at the Beligio is cool and interesting if seem by night from the Eiffel Tour. Everybody likes the free volcano at the Mirage, the lion's habitat at the MGM, The show in front of TI, Mardi Gras style show in the Rio and on and on. This article is about getting out into the great outdoors, so I'll leave the entertainment search up to you. There's always plenty to see and do.

One of the first things I do as I'm leaving town is to find a big grocery store or the local shopping mart. I buy a cooler and load up on water, fruit, soda, chips, snacks, napkins, plates, forks and deli items. Many times we'll have an inexpensive breakfast or lunch along the way. We'll have a great restaurant dinner.

There is where the Mojave, Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts are within striking distance of your entry point of Las Vegas. Some of these areas can be very hot in the summer, but if you plan well and hit the higher elevations, it can be very comfortable. Remember this area of the world can be wild and dangerous. Take all the precautions necessary. This is the Mohave Desert, you'll need water. You do not want to get stuck in the sand, or have your auto break down in a remote area. There are places your cell phone will not work. If you hike into any remote areas, learn about them first and obtain necessary permits. There are a lot of slot canyons that are very beautiful. A slot is a narrow passageway thru cliff lined canyons. This was carved into the sandstone by water. Beware! If it is raining 100 miles away from you, you may not know it and the slot you could be in is where the water will run. I have heard several stories of people being carried away and drown because of lack of planning. When you are in a narrow canyon, there is no place to escape. Be smart and be careful. Take lots of pictures.

Heading north there is another great little casino city right at the border of Nevada called Mesquite, NV. I have found the hotel room rates to be down right cheap. Mesquite has everything that I need as a base of operations. The rooms are acceptable, the Casinos are modern and fun with pools and even arcades, bowling alleys and movie theatres, without lots of traffic. The town has lots of buffets, gas stations, golf, etc. If you are planning a visit to Zion, staying here is an easy drive up and back for a couple of day trips into the region. Many times I have gone with a group and we have to reserve quite a few rooms.

As you head north on I 15 you'll see the Las Vegas Speedway home of NASCAR races as well as Nellis Air force base. You'll probably see or hear air force jets flying around or landing as you travel past the base. The thunderbirds have a presence here, as well as some funky looking stealth and unmanned remotely piloted aircraft. Maybe this is where all the UFO Area 51 stuff comes from. If you're interested in more information about the mystery lights in the sky, search for Groom Lake or Area 51.

The Valley of Fire State Park is up this way and located only six miles from Lake Mead, it's 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas via Interstate 15 and on exit 75. Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park, dedicated 1935. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. There are some really awesome campsites nested within the red rock cliffs. This is a great place to stretch your legs and do a little rock scrambling. It's about a 30 minute drive from the highway exit. The Moapa Indian Reservation runs a store right at this exit.This can be a nice stop for bathrooms; they sell fireworks, have a small casino, tax free cigarettes and liquor in their small convenience store.

If you continue north into Utah on highway I 15 from Las Vegas you can go to Zion National Park. It's just a few hours north of Las Vegas and can make a great day trip. April thru Oct. the environmental friendly shuttle bus provides transportation in the park. Other month's autos are allowed in. There is a highway Rt 9 that goes thru park of the park and is open to traffic all year. If you might be planning a hike into the Virgin River and upstream, talk to the rangers first. Our last trip the water levels were too high and not safe. After you tour of Zion, be sure to take RT. 9 through the tunnels, and the landscape totally changes after the tunnel. It's like a different planet. The second day we visited the Zion Plateau where we found a resort and paid the all day pass to ride their ATV's, use their pool, play paintball, climbing wall, etc.

From here you now need to plan out your trip based on how long you'll be traveling for. You could head to Bryce Canyon Nation Park or you could go to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Lake Powell, even The Grand Canyon. I normally take Utah highway 89 if I am going to Lake Powell and on the return just to see even more scenery I return towards Las Vegas using Arizona ALT highway 89.

Heading south on Utah highway 89 from either Zion or Bryce you'll see a turn off for Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Here pinkish sand worn off the sandstone cliffs was deposited by the winds creating 3,000 acres of sand dunes. Continuing along highway 89 is the town of Kanab, Utah. One popular visit in the area is the Paria and Johnson Canyon Movie Set where over 300 movies and TV shows were filmed.

This area is called the Arizona Strip. We visited The Glen Canyon Dam which created Lake Powell. Lake Powell has 2000 miles of shoreline and canyons etc. We rented a speed boat for the day at the Marina. As you look for boat rentals, you need to decide if you want to rent at the marina where the boat is in the water or another rental where you may have to tow or arrange for the boat to be launched. You may choose to not have a hotel/condo and stay on a houseboat. The sun is strong and lots of sunscreen and sun block should be used. Many people visit Rainbow Bridge and it is the world's largest natural bridge.

Antelope Canyon is a Page, Arizona photographer's opportunity. This is the most spectacular slot canyon I have been to. You'll find that all tours require a Navajo guide and there is an upper and lower canyon. The tours are separate. You can join a tour in Page, AZ or drive the few miles to the Navajo Nation. There is a cost for parking at the Navajo tour site, as well as for the tour itself. Our tour was in an open safari type vehicle for a few miles into the desert. As you get there you see just a dark crack in a huge cliff. It is an amazing slot canyon carved by water and wind over millions of years. The sandstone colors are awesome and many people are touched by this natural cathedral that the Navajo's have treasured for years. When the sun is directly over head, beams of light can then shine into the canyon.

I like to return back towards Las Vegas using AZ alt 89 out of Page, AZ. Be sure you make the turn on alt 89 or you will continue south towards Flagstaff, AZ. Taking this route will bring you past the Vermilion Cliffs. As you continue on highway alt 89 you'll get to Jacobs Lake, this is the turn off if you are interested in visiting the North Rim of The Grand Canyon. I timed my last trip so we could overnight at the Lodge. We showed up late afternoon, watched the sunset, stayed in a cabin right near the rim. We ate at the dining room with an awesome view. You'll need reservations or you'll be out of luck.

From here you'd just return back to highway 15 and your trip back to Las Vegas.

But it did not stop there, the Volvo C30 is also the readers' choice feature "Die besten Autos 2007" ("The best cars of 2007") of the distinguished German trade journal "auto motor und sport" the Swedish manufacturer's first compact model came way out on top in the lower medium import class.

Success comes successively that it leaves the automaker jubilant and thrilled. The all-new S80 also yielded remarkable result, coming second in the upper medium import class. Aside from standard auto parts like Volvo antenna, wheels, radiator, and brakes, the Volvo C30 also boasts of its safety features that include the BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) to overcome "blind spots" and the Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS) to monitor the car's preemptive systems that include steering wheel angle, pedal depressions, and overall factors that aid the vehicle's computer to decide if the driver is busy or distracted. The car also features four-wheel anti-lock braking system, electronic stability program, seatbelts with pretensioners, traction control, and airbags all around for side impact and rollover protection.

"The new Volvo C30 plays an important role in our push towards a volume of 600,000 cars a year. We are broadening our model program to make it possible for new, younger customers with an intense, urban lifestyle to choose a Volvo with the right appeal as early as possible," Arp noted. The automaker intends to sell 65,000 cars every year. Seventy-five percent of those sales are expected to come from Europe market.

Looking for a new car involves considering different areas, factors, and features of an automobile. Safety, fuel efficiency, and performance are just some of the things car buyers need to consider to ensure that they will be driving a vehicle that suits them perfectly.

Auto experts though has reported that prospective car buyers should also check for water damage on the car they are planning to buy and they do mean flood water to be exact. After the damaging effects of Hurricane Katrina, car experts fear that the auto market in the United States is proliferated by flood-damaged vehicles. With regards to this, they warn car buyers to avoid buying a car which has suffered the wrath of Hurricane Katrina and other smaller floods across the country.

Bryan Gregory, the Director of Consumer Education for Advanced Auto Parts, has this to say about the influx of flood-damaged vehicles in the United States auto market: "Auto industry experts estimate that as many as 400,000 vehicles may have been damaged by Hurricane Katrina alone. Add to that total the number of vehicles caught in countless smaller floods that occur across the country each year and you have a significant flood-damaged vehicle population that consumers need to be on the lookout for."

Staying way from flood-damaged vehicles needs a thorough inspection of the vehicle on the part of the buyer. Although the tell tale signs of flood damaged is relatively hard to spot, auto experts want to arm car buyers with the proper information to spot these damages. "Flood damage can be hard to spot, unless you know what you're looking for. The time to spot a car that's been in a flood is before you purchase it, because once it's in your driveway and the flood-related mechanical problems start to show up, it's too late for most consumers," says Gregory.

These damages may not show themselves yet right after you buy a car but in the long run, these damages will play a major role in the shortening of a vehicle's lifespan. Since all new vehicles released in the U.S. market are equipped with electronic components, these features should be checked properly before buying a car. The vehicle's onboard computer can be permanently damaged by flood water as well as airbag sensors. That alone poses a very high potential risk to consumers.

If an airbag sensor is damaged, when needed, the airbag can no longer protect the occupants of a vehicle, endangering them of severe injuries or even death. Some other electrical components like Volvo window motors can also be damaged by flood water, but these damages can readily be checked unlike the status of an airbag sensor.

One of the most telling signs that a car is flood-damaged is molds in the vehicle or a musty smell. This, of course, is the effect of the prolonged exposure to dirty flood water. New upholstery and carpets can also mean that these are replaced due to the damage of flood water on the original upholstery or carpets. Rust on the interior of a vehicle is also a sign that the vehicle is flood-damaged.

Auto experts also advise car buyers to inspect the air box for mud or water residue. Consumers can do this by simply removing the air filter of a vehicle. Waterlines on the bulb or lenses of headlamps and taillights are also telltale sign that the car was submerged at one time or another under a flood.

Aside from keeping away from flood-damaged vehicles, Gregory also advises car owners to prevent their cars from being victims of a flood. According to Gregory, "In addition to knowing how to avoid buying a flood-damaged vehicle, drivers should also take steps to prevent their own vehicle from becoming a flood victim. The number one action drivers can take to avoid water damage to their vehicle, and possible personal injury or death, is to never, ever attempt to drive through water that is covering a road, no matter how shallow or slow-moving it appears. But when Geneva Motor Show arrives, the territory radiates nothing short of breathtaking and the cars jaw-breaking. The said show showcases latest production vehicles, concept cars, supercars and sports cars.

An auto aficionado may not probably get enough of the offers of the Geneva Motor Show nonetheless there are few autos that could make him astonished for awhile. The anticipated show stars in the said show include the Saab Aero X concept, the Rinspeed zaZen, and the Porsche 911 GT3.

The Saab Aero X concept is one of the biggest surprises in the auto show. Inside the concept car are transparent sports seats and a delicious mango orange finish.

Many jaws will definitely be slackened by the Porsche 911 GT3. The car is equipped with neater nose and more stunning. The Porsche 911 GT3 is a high performance version of the 911. The car is based on the automaker's GT3 race car.

The Nissan North America, Inc. debuted at the 2007 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) the latest addition of the automaker to the famous Z sports car lineup. The performance-oriented car is the fifth in this year's 350Z Coupe lineup from the automaker.

The new vehicle offers an improved list of unique auto equipment that covers a special body package and improved handling equipment. The vehicle is expected to be available this July at Nissan dealers nationwide.

According to enthusiasts, the most striking visual feature of the vehicle is the NISMO aerodynamics package. The feature strongly resembles the Super GT championship winning ZÃ’s. Other remarkable features of the vehicle include the aggressive front fascia with chin spoiler, side skirts, a rear wing, and an extended rear fascia with an underbody diffuser. Additionally, the NISMO 350Z produces extra aerodynamic downforce to deliver improved cornering and handling performance.

The automaker's pool of engineers has also added additional performance features that include the special NISMO-tuned independent multi-link suspension, Brembo brakes with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers that measure 12.8-inch for the front front and 12.7-inch rear rotors, and the Nissan PCV valve as well. It is also equipped with special NISMO-branded gunmetal gray RAYS super lightweight forged-alloy wheels that measure 18x9-inch front and 19x10-inch rear with a 245/40WR18 front, as well as 265/35WR19 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires. To highlight a more dramatic effect, the automaker has added a NISMO-branded tuned exhaust to go with the powerful V6 engine.

The all-new NISMO 350Z also offers a full complement of 350Z standard features, including the new VQ35HR 3.5-liter V6 engine, which is capable of producing 306 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. Aside from the engine, the new NISMO 350Z is also given a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD), and Traction Control System (TCS).

Inside the new sports car is a list of comfortable perks that include the unique black cloth seats with red inserts and stitching all-over the interior and special NISMO white-faced tachometer. All NISMO 350Z units include a NISMO-etched aluminum plaque mounted on the center console, designating its limited edition status.

Other standard equipment integrated to the car includes a HomeLink Universal Transceiver, a cruise control, aluminum pedals, an illuminated steering wheel audio controls and an auto dimming rearview mirror, power windows, 3-bay gauge cluster, LED taillights, High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-xenon (high and low beam) headlights, the Advanced Air Bag System, Active Head Restraint, and side and curtain side-impact supplemental air bags.

"The combination of aerodynamic enhancements and performance tuning adds up to a Z with enhanced cornering, steering precision and handling," said Bill Bosley, the vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA).

The track was made into an off-road playground where consumers can experience the capability and comfort that goes with Jeep vehicles such as the 2007 Commander, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Wrangler, and Wrangler Unlimited.

The test track will be comprised of seven different surfaces namely dirt, mulch, gravel, rocks, water, wood, and asphalt plus include an 18-foot vertical climb on a Jeep Mountain. More than 220 yards of dirt and mulch are used to construct the Trail Rated course. All the dirt used for the tracks are going to be recycled and returned to its original source.

Participants to the Camp Jeep will also have the opportunity to scale a 16-foot climbing wall, play video games that feature Tony Hawk and have their pictures taken with a Jeep in the Jeep Photo Zone. The Camp Jeep is for the whole family so kids will also enjoy and get to test drive mini Jeep vehicles on the Mini Jeep Kidz Course.

Named as the Touareg 2, the vehicle is poised to stir the American car fans at the show with the vehicle's updated exterior styling featuring the company's signature Volkswagen "face" design highlighted by the chrome front grille. Other exclusive features of the 2008 Volkswagen Touareg 2 include redesigned headlamps and darkened taillights, redesigned aerodynamics, sporty rear spoiler with integrated third brake light, optional Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS II that improves night time driving visibility in cornering, and several wheel options for different VW Touareg 2 model trims. The Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion sold in the European market was named as one of the finalists for the 2007 World Green Car of the Year. More than 40 automotive journalists from all over the world selected the top three finalists for this year's award. The other two finalists for the 2007 World Green Car of the Year award include the BMW Hydrogen 7 and the Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC.

According to a Volkswagen Group official press release, "The Polo BlueMotion is Europe's most economical five-seat automobile, offering the equivalent of 60 miles per gallon. The key to the Polo BlueMotion's efficiency is the optimization of an already economical package. Incorporation of longer ratio gears in the standard five-speed manual transmission, application-specific light weight alloy wheels, and lower rolling resistance 165/70 R14 tires all contribute to increased fuel economy. The lightweight body structure has enhanced aerodynamics to further improve its efficiency. The Polo BlueMotion doesn't ask its owners to compromise, as its sprightly performance and sporty chassis dynamics provide the "fun to drive" element inherent in Volkswagen's brand DNA."

Introduced at the 2006 Geneva International Auto Show, the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion hatchback model features a 3-cylinder TDI engine delivering 80 hp (59 kW) at 4,000 rpm and develops a maximum torque output of 144 lb.-ft. (195 Nm) rotating at engine speeds of 2,200 rpm. The engine significantly offers improved fuel efficiency with only 3.9 liters of fuel consumption. In addition, the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion made it as a finalist in the 2007 World Green Car of the Year award because of the low exhaust (CO2) emissions provided by the 3-cylinder TDI engine. The reduced CO2 emissions was achieved, thanks to the engine's advanced systems including turbo diesel fuel direct injection, optimized exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), improved EGR cooler, and electrically powered EGR valve with VW valve cover and VW valve cover gasket. The engine is connected through a standard 5-speed manual gearbox.

Mazda3 Sport Sedan won a best car award for the third consecutive year, this year in the Best Sedan Under 1,600cc category. The Mazda BT-50 Pickup Truck won in the Best High-lifted Pickup 2,500cc category.

Car makers intend to put brakes on those gorgeous babes to make viewers and consumers focus on the wheels instead. Motor shows are popular because some find it a great place to look over gorgeous models. Sometimes, these models overshadow the cars. Instead of concentrating on the car specs, spectators find the models more attractive. Hence, motor shows have established a reputation to cover human types - not just automobiles and the whole motoring lot.

Some experts think that attractive models have long been acting as the vehicle's ultimate accessory. Further, Asian car confab thinks the charming ladies are like potholes on the road to higher sales. This is the reason why South Korean carmakers intend to slash the number of scantily clad ladies at this year's Seoul Motor Show to make people look at the cars instead.

The Seoul Motor Show is scheduled to start next month. The said show usually lures thousands of camera-wielding men snapping pictures of gorgeous models in skimpy outfits whose images quickly make their way to websites. "We would rather have the spectators' attention on our cars than the attractive ladies," said Hyundai Motor Company spokesman Jake Jang.

Hyundai, the world's sixth-largest car maker, will hire fewer models for the event. Its affiliate Kia will do the same. Additionally, Renault Samsung Motors, starting last year, changed the attire of its models from miniskirts to more modest business suits and gave them handheld computers to help answer questions, a company official said. The official added, "When we look at motor shows overseas, the foreign brands did not have models with provocative clothing. It only seems to commercialize women and we want the car to shine, not the women."

Separately, Nissan, the Japan-based automaker, intends to unveil a 'cute car' to deviate from the ordinary auto revelations. Nissan goes wackier with the introduction of the Pino, a toylike minicar just 11 feet long with star-stamped upholstery, sparkly-snowflake hubcaps, and a hook for a handbag. The car is especially designed to respond to the needs and whims of cute-obsessed young women and the Pino also can be equipped with accessories that include pink bear-shaped cushions, seat covers with hearts, a CD case that looks like fat red lips, and a colorful cover for a tissue box. Exterior colors include pink (of course) and "milk tea beige."

Nissan marketing manager Miwa Ishii said that one goal for the Pino is to court young drivers to the Nissan brand with hopes that they will move on to buy more expensive models in the future. "Rather than talk about the features of a minicar, we thought it's better to talk about how cute it is," she said. "It's a new model. We're starting from zero to build public awareness about it."

The move could be discouraged by auto experts in other territories because painting cars pink and adding 'cute' features suggest sexism and it thus turn off women. But in Japan, even prevalent grown men are not embarrassed using 'cute' accessories. The practice is as common as using Active brakes direct on automobiles.

The Nissan Altima, slotted between the Sentra and the Maxima in price range, is a direct descendant of the Nissan Bluebird which was famous during the 1950's. This year's Altima though is far more advanced than its predecessors. Its exterior styling gives it a muscular look. The car looks larger than it actually is thanks to the design concepts used by Nissan in the design of the vehicle. The muscular appeal of the Altima though is not limited to its exterior design.

With an option of either a four-cylinder or a V6 engine, consumers will surely experience the power of the Nissan Altima. Its interior is designed for functionality and gives adequate space for occupants. As far as ride comfort is concerned, its suspension is sport-oriented giving the vehicle good ride comfort and handling. The2.5-liter four-cylinder engine of the Altima can produce as much as 175 horsepower while the 3.5-liter V6 engine can produce as much as 250 horsepower.

Another Nissan model which will be showcased at the motor show is the Armada. Just like the Altima, the Armada packs a lot of power and just by looking at it; one can already see that the full-size sport utility vehicle is muscular. The newest version of the Armada, formerly known as the Pathfinder Armada, is equipped with a new massive engine. Its powerplant, a 5.6-liter double overhead cam, 32-valve V8 engine can provide the Armada with 305 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. The amount of horsepower and torque of the Nissan Armada's engine is one of the highest in its class.

The SUV is also a workhorse with a towing capacity of 9,100 pounds. That towing capacity makes gives the Armada the bragging right to having the highest towing capacity in its class.

The Nissan Maxima will also be showcased at the upcoming motor show. The upscale mid-size sedan will be attracting luxury car buyers. True to Nissan's tradition of manufacturing high quality vehicles, the Maxima combine a good dose of sport car performance and luxurious features. Its interior is characterized by plush and comfortable seats that will come in play especially on extended roar trips. The lush interior complements the performance of the Maxima's engine.

The luxury sedan is powered by a 3.5-liter double overhead cam 24-valve V6 engine supported by a wide array of high performance Nissan Maxima parts produces as much as 265 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. The engine and the interior features of the Maxima is protected by advanced safety features like the Traction Control System and the Vehicle Dynamic Control technology.

All of these cars will be showcased at the New York International Auto Show which will be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The largest motor show in the United States, the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is just around the corner. The excitement of auto enthusiasts is building as to what cars will be unveiled at the show. Of course, there will be concept vehicles showcased at the motor show.

Aside from concept vehicles, a motor show is also a venue for car makers to showcase their production cars. The New York International Auto Show is no exception since car makers already announced what they will be strutting at the event. Nissan recently announced that they will be unveiling the upgraded versions of their Murano, Pathfinder, and Quest models. These vehicles are part of Nissan's exhibit at the event and are aimed to further increase the popularity of the Nissan brand among Americans.

The Nissan Murano, dubbed as the "Maxima of SUVs", is a crossover sport utility vehicle first introduced in 2003. It was the top-of-the-line SUV for the Japanese brand until the introduction of the Nissan Armada. The Murano which will be showcased at the New York Auto Show combines the versatility of a sport utility vehicle with the handling performance of a sedan.

The new Murano will be an all-wheel drive vehicle which makes it an all-weather vehicle. With the drive wheel configuration, the vehicle supplies traction to all of its wheels making it maneuverable in any road condition. The power supplied to its wheels comes from a 3.5 liter direct overhead cam V6 engine boasting of 245 horsepower and 246 lb-ft of torque. Fuel efficiency-wise, the Nissan Murano offers a continuously variable transmission - Nissan's Xtronic CVT as it is called. This efficiently transfers power from the engine to the wheels with less waste so that fuel consumption is reduced.

Another Nissan model that will grace the New York Auto Show is the Nissan Pathfinder. The 2008 Pathfinder is designed to look as muscular as its predecessors. Its three-row seating gives the Pathfinder versatility of the SUV that its is. Off-road driving ability is also phenomenal. While the new version of the Pathfinder is built on a longer wheelbase, the short front and rear overhangs gives it the maneuverability that it needs to navigate through city streets or off the road.

The increased wheelbase gives the interior of the SUV good legroom and headspace for its occupants. Powering the Pathfinder is the 4.0-liter version of the brand's award-winning Nissan VQ-Series V6 engine. The 4.0-liter double overhead cam V6 is proven to produce 270 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque. The ratio of horsepower and torque is the highest among its competitor in the mid-size SUV market.

Another Nissan vehicle upgraded for the 2008 model year which will be showcased at the New York Auto Show is the Nissan Quest. This minivan first introduced in 1993 is still setting standards in its class. The Nissan Quest is designed to have that sociable looks common on minivans, from its Nissan mirrors to its side windows, the Quest looks every bit like a family car that it is. The power of the Quest comes from a 3.5 liter double overhead cam 24-valve V6 engine capable of producing 240 horsepower and 242 lb-ft of torque.

Company has recently announced that it is presenting three new limited edition models to have their public debut at the forthcoming 2007 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) early this April. The three vehicles are the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR, the F-150 Foose Edition and the Ford Expedition Funkmaster Flex Edition. According to Ford, "The trio of vehicles, including the most powerful pickup and most powerful Mustang ever from Ford, demonstrates how the company is leveraging key partnerships to create exciting new products." Ford Motor Company's limited edition model segment has significantly increased by about 50 percent, according to the Detroit-based automaker.

First off is the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR, which will be launched next spring. This vehicle is equipped with monstrous 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine under its hood. An optional Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack is available to boost the engine's output up to 540 horsepower (estimated output only). Inspired by the classic 1969 Ford KR mode, the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR comes with a unique exterior stripe, 40th Anniversary exterior badge, lower front air dam with chrome-trimmed functional brake ducts, large 14-inch Brembo front brakes, distinctive Carroll Shelby-signature embroidered seats, and 40th Anniversary numbered dash plaque. Only 1,000 units of this vehicle will be produced.

In the first quarter of 2008, car fans will witness the launch of the 2008 Ford F-150 Foose Edition truck. Designed by Chip Foose himself, the F-150 Foose Edition also features racing stripes on the hood up to the tailgate. Other styling cues done by Chip Foose include new grille with horizontal bars and rocker moldings, a huge 22-inch wheel design, Chip Foose signature headrests and floor mats, leather wrapped center console, and Fosse serial numbered plate. At the heart of the Ford F-150 Foose Edition is supercharged Triton V8 engine pumping out 450 hp and pulls out 500 lb.-ft. amount of peak torque rotating at 4,000 rpm.

Meanwhile, the 2008 Ford Expedition Funkmaster Flex Edition features new design cues created by hip hop DJ Funkmaster Flex. Outside, the Expedition FMF comes with a two-tone Colorado Red-and-Black paint scheme with orange pin striping, side skirts, integrated fog lamps, and huge 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels. On the inside, the limited edition SUV has FMF red logo headrests, a red-stitched steering wheel, 340-watt Audiophile Sound System, SIRIUS satellite radio, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, and numbered plaque with Funkmaster Flex's signature. The Expedition FMF retains its technical components including the engine with quality timing belt like VW Timing belt installed in VW Touareg, one of Ford Expedition's competitors in the SUV segment.

The upcoming New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is already creating a huge buzz in the auto market. Different car makers have already announced what they will be exhibiting at the country's largest motor show. The huge number of attendees will surely be treated to a dazzling display of concept, production, and limited edition vehicles.
Ford has already announced that they will be unveiling three limited edition vehicles at the mentioned motor show. These three are the Shelby GT500KR, the F-150 Foose Edition, and the Ford Expedition Funkmaster Flex Edition. These three vehicles will join other production vehicles and concept cars from the Dearborn based outfit's exhibit at the motor show.
The Ford Shelby GT500KR which will be hitting showrooms in spring next year will be powered by a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine. This massive engine provides a whole lot of power which when tested goes up to a high 540 horsepower. To control that power, the limited-edition vehicle will be equipped with some 14-inch Brembo front brakes.
To give the vehicle good handling, it is configured for racing. The exterior design of the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR is characterized by a carbon composite hood and a lowered front air dam. The performance of the muscle car complements the vehicle's aggressive styling. Only a thousand of these vehicles will be produced for the public.
The vehicle will also feature anniversary badges marking the 40th year of the Ford GT500KR in the auto industry.
Aside from the powerful GT500KR, Ford will also be exhibiting the 2008 Ford F-150 Foose Edition. The pick-up designed by the renowned automotive designer Chip Foose. The F-150 limited edition is lowered to give it high aesthetic value. The lowered look of the vehicle is even more enhanced with the 22-inch wheels it features.
The limited edition also sports a new grille and rocker moldings. Headrests and floor mats complement the interior of the pickup truck. What powers these vehicles is a Triton V8 engine. The massive V8 can produce 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. That makes the limited edition vehicle the most powerful F-150 since the 2004 version of the F-150 which was then called the Ford SVT Lightning.
While it already produces a huge amount of power, aftermarket parts like a Toucan cold air intake system can significantly enhance the vehicle's performance.
The third limited edition vehicle that Ford will be unveiling at the New York Auto Show is the 2008 Ford Expedition Funkmaster Flex Edition. The shortened version of the Expedition is designed by hip-hop DJ Funkmaster Flex. The design of the limited edition Expedition is characterized by a two-tone paint scheme, special badges, and a custom front fascia. Its integrated fog lamps, side skirts, and 20-inch aluminum wheels adds to the aesthetic value of this eye-catching piece of engineering.
