Buying A Car, Some Tips and Information
by Brian McQuirk
"Car buying is, or should be, a calculated decision,"says John Mondin, an auto travel counselor with AAA. The complex and sometimes frightening process of car buying is demystified in a comprehensive guide that covers: How to choose the right car, new/used car-buying strategies, getting a used car bargain, avoiding the pitfalls of leasing, how to shop for insurance.
In addition, Strategies for Smart Car Buyers includes several appendices and a variety of new material to complete the buyer's research process, including: The acclaimed investigative series, "Confessions of a Car Salesman," relating insider secrets in an entertaining account of two car dealerships, monthly payment charts and monthly leasing payments, expanded financing section detailing crucial contract dos and don'ts, plus additional commentary throughout text from undercover car salesman Chandler Phillips.
Online new car buying is a quick and easy way to look for a car in the privacy of one's own home without the pressure of rash buying. Online car buying is a reality now because of the many excellent sites where you can find the car you've been looking for. See all the buying and selling articles you can find on avoiding scams and post-sale problems. As most of us know, used-car buying is a business wrought with scams. One of the best innovations in used car buying is the CARFAX website.
Tips Educate yourself before buying a car, no negotiating prices without going for a test drive! Do you buy nice clothes without trying them on. Arm yourself with knowledge, with these tips, you can confidently walk into a car dealership, ready to be confronted by eager salesmen. More dealers are better: The more dealers you have in your area, the more competition for your business, the higher your odds of getting a good deal. Some helpful guidelines and car buying tips can be found at the Federal Information Center, as well as a wealth of other money related issues.
Information The good news is that with the advent of the Internet, a world of information -- never available to our parents and grandparents -- is just a click away. Walking onto a dealer's lot with no information is like walking into the lion's den. And relying on a dealer for information is just slightly better. It levels the playing field by giving accurate information to the consumer. You can also read up on the latest car reviews by browsing the Web as there is literally a wealth of pertinent information available online. Never discuss in a dealership what you can afford on a monthly basis; dealers can use that information to structure a car loan to meet or slightly beat your monthly-payment requirements, without addressing the more important issues: the total price of the car and the terms of the loan. To negotiate on price, you must be armed with information about the true value of the car you want with all the options you demand. A variety of Web sites now offer detailed consumer information comparing the dealer's invoice cost, what the dealer paid the manufacturer, against the MSRP printed on the window sticker. Important information about automobiles and fuel economy should always be considered. Some helpful guidelines and car buying tips can be found at the Federal Information Center, as well as a wealth of other money related issues. Check it out, you'll be surprised at the valuable information you'll find there. They combine extensive industry knowledge, dealership experience, and the power of the Internet to empower the consumer with the information they need to negotiate the best deal. They offer valuable research and information about used cars. You can find out about rebates online whereas before, unless you ask the car salesman, he wouldn't volunteer the information to you.
Loan You will get greater flexibility and savings by getting pre-approved for a car loan before shopping for a new or used car. And,if you decide to finance the car, find out what your monthly payment should be by shopping for a car loan before going to the dealership. You may discover that getting a loan will cost less than financing directly. If you do find a loan that you like, it's recommended that you get approved for it before buying the car. The question you really must ask yourself at this point isn't how much car you can afford but how much car loan you can afford. That determines how much car loan you'll be able to cover comfortably every month for the next three to four years. The next step is to talk to your bank or credit union to find out what rates they're currently charging on new-car loans for 36 and 48 months. There are many ways to find the best loan for you regardless of your credit standing. The prospective car buyer can also look into current interest rates on car loans ahead of time and determine which way they should proceed with regard to financing the vehicle. So be sure to follow these steps; do your research on the car, research available loan rates and programs online, check your impact on your insurance, and then reach a dealer about the car you want.
Final Thoughts The world of car buying is changing rapidly. Online new car buying is a quick and easy way to look for a car in the privacy of one's own home without the pressure of sales people pushing you into rash buying. The key to successful car buying is to meet your wants and needs within your budget.

High Performance Headers for High Performance Cars

High Performance Headers for High Performance Cars
by Paul Archer
Improving your engines performance with an extra added 20-30 horsepower using over stock headers. The type of headers you choose will greatly depend on how your vehicle performs.
Drivers that want more power for only driving around town that have a much bigger load to carry usually go for a low-performance exhaust header, and then there are others that are looking for more speed as they would much rather prefer high-performance headers. Which type of header are you looking for?
Short Tube Performance Headers
If you want more top end power it's suggested you go with short tube headers. They will also make a big difference saving 20-30 pounds off the front end of your car or vehicle and make up the difference in additional power. Short tube performance headers are for street applications and will build torque with the corresponding build-up.
Long Tube Performance Headers
Long tubes are generally for high RPM applications. If you're going to live your life one 1/4 mile at a time, get the long tubes but you'll have to upgrade your valvetrain and increase your rev limiter. Long tube headers are going to give you more power across the board.
Catch The Thief Red Handed
Don't let your exhaust rob your engine of power. Your exhaust has no alternative route unless you give it one. Using either long tube or short tube performance headers, is going to be good for your engine and your wallet in the long run. There are many different manufactures and many different brands trying to figure out which one will work best for your vehicle is easier then ever. If your shopping online it all depends on what site your shopping on. Most all have a tech support team to help you figure out the best for you and your vehicle.
Ups - n - Downs
Each style header have their pros and cons. Some preserve gas mileage adding more power, some rely heavily on your gas tank and provide super power. The good news for all you hot rodders with high tech engines built for street use only is that any style or type of header you choose is going to be a noticeable improvement over your old exhaust manifold.

Automobile Storage

Automobile Storage
by Kamyar Shah
Perhaps you own a 2007 Mazda CX-7 Grand Touring all wheel drive in a steel gray; it puts out 244 horses, has a 2.3 liter turbocharged drive train, and looks so much like a sports car from the inside that it makes your teeth hurt. Yet during your summer vacation with the family and the kids, you will be renting a recreational vehicle, and since there is no way that you will tow this beauty behind, you will need to store it somewhere. The garage is full, and leaving it at the curb or in the driveway is like telling the would-be thieves and burglars to come on in and take it for a spin. Could professional automobile storage be the solution to your problem?
Maybe your pride and joy is a 1973 Corvette Roadster which - Chevy lovers know - was a bit of a dud at the time being, but thanks to your persistence and constant stream of cash is now a cherry! The color is beautiful and deep, the engine is completely rebuilt, and the added tune port injection has your beauty humming like a cat in a canary store. Yet one day you are perusing your favorite car ads on the 'Net and run across a 1972 Corvette 454 that needs some tender, loving care - completely stock, the ad reads, and begging for a few upgrades. As you imagine yourself installing a raised runner intake manifold in your garage that also doubles as a workshop, you realize that you will need to find a place for your Roadster while you are working on such a car. While Aunt Martha's garage down the block sounds like a cheap idea, the fact that she has canned peaches stacked from floor to ceiling on wobbly shelves in the same garage has you thinking twice about entrusting your baby for safekeeping to her. Your option is obvious: professional automobile storage!
Automobile storage is the answer to the short term and also long term needs of car aficionados who have one or more vehicles to many yet cannot bear to part with any of them. While most car aficionados already own the turbo lifts that permit one car to be stacked and stored atop another, the fact of the matter dictates that for some this is not an option, and while friends and family members may be asked in a pinch, this is usually not the best solution for anyone involved, since as the car's protective owner you cannot control what other folks will do in their garages.
Yet while automobile storage is indeed the best solution, keep in mind that insurance coverage for your cars that are stored away from home will need to be discussed with your agent prior to your making that trip. By and large, most items placed in storage are covered by your homeowner's policy and thus the sometimes pricy suggestion of the storage company to purchase optional insurance is usually not needed. The number one exception to this rule is the automobile. Whether it is in running order or a project that is ongoing, a car is specifically excluded from the majority of homeowner's policies and thus you will need to purchase your own car insurance in addition to the homeowner's policy. Even though you may not be planning on operating the car or - if it is in running status - has all the coverage needed, make sure that you discuss with your insurance agent the implications of storing a vehicle away from home. For example, if the storage location is situated in a flood plain, you will want to add flood insurance to your automobile policy.

A World-First Safety Technology from Volvo
A World-First Safety Technology from Volvo
by Evander Klum
Volvo has been at the forefront of developing efficient technologies which will offer safety to their customers. Considering the results of recent studies where it results showed that as much as 90 per cent of all traffic accidents are caused by driver distraction, Volvo is once again upgrading safety in its vehicles by helping a driver avoid or even just reduce the severity of accidents caused by distraction or fatigue through the development of a world-first technology.
Earlier this September, Volvo revealed its Driver Alert Control (DAC) together with a Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is what Volvo claims as the world-first technology to alert tired or distracted drivers. By the end of this year, the two systems will be made available as an optional feature priced at £500 on the all-new Volvo V70.
According to a spokesperson at the Volvo Cars Safety Center, "Real life safety is the key to out safety philosophy. When it comes to preventative safety, we have the same approach as when we develop protective systems. In other words our research and technical developments focus on areas where new technology can create significant results in real-life-traffic."
The Driver Alert Control (DAC), a world first innovation, is the product of Volvo's series of extensive studies on how drivers operate behind the wheel. Unlike other technologies featured before, DAC wouldn't be monitoring human behavior, which varies from one individual to another. Instead, the system will look over the progress of the car on the road. Such driving behavior is said to be much reliable since it considers assessing the impact of fatigue or distraction to the car's movements, as well as if the car is being driven in a controlled and consistent manner. It would even work as much as covering the guard if the driver is getting to much attached to a mobile phone conversation or probably getting distracted by companion during driving.
The composition of the Driver Alert Control includes a camera between the windscreen and the interior rear view mirror. Several sensors and a control unit have also been provided. The camera is held to measure the distance between the car and the road lane markings. The sensors, on the other hand, are responsible in registering the car's movements in the same situation. Those sensors deliver the information to the control unit, where the code will then be calculated as to know whether the driver is at risk of getting out of control while driving.
If the computer measures the risk as high, an audible signal will alert the driver. For minor distractions, a text message and coffee cup symbol will appear in the car's information display, imposing that the driver needs to take a break. Consistency of driving is accessed through bars displayed, where five bars in the starting and fewer if driving is held less consistent.
Daniel Levin, project manager for Driver Alert Control at Volvo Cars, said, "It is, of course, always the driver's responsibility to take a break when necessary, but sometimes you might not realize that you're not alert enough to drive. In such situations, Driver Alert Control can help the driver make the right decision before the concentration level becomes too low." He implies that the system will just be of help and the driver is still held the most responsible to get himself aware of anything that might affect his driving.
With regards to changing lanes, Volvo Cars' researchers presented the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system. After studies have been made, they got an estimate of 30 percent to 40 percent of the accidents, of which are caused by single car road departures and head-on collisions, being prevented by the system.
Like the DAC, the Lane Departure Warning comes with a camera between the windscreen and the rear view mirror. And, it also monitors the car's position between the road markings. A button on the center console with get this system activated, releasing a gentle warning sound whenever the car unreasonably crosses one of the road markings.
As with the car's speed, both the DAC and the LDW will be activated as it reaches 40 mph and stays active as it exceeds 37 mph.
However, like any other technologies, exceptions exist. Both systems will be unavailable during extreme weather conditions and other situations that tend to make the markings unclear. Probably, this technology will be upgraded, as Volvo upgrades its Volvo radiator hoses, in time.

Volvo to Outsource Auto Components from India

Volvo to Outsource Auto Components from India
by Evander Klum
Volvo Car Corporation Sweden has recently announced that it will outsource components worth $99 million from India this year.
Volvo is joining other international automakers such as General Motors Corporation and DaimlerChrysler AG which both have employed the same outsourcing programmes for components that they used in manufacturing their vehicles.
Volvo Car Corporation, the producer of top of the line auto parts like Volvo muffler, is part of the Premier Automotive Group and one of the luxury brands currently owned by Ford Motor Company. According to Mr. Paul De Voijs, Managing Director, Volvo Cars India, the US head office of Volvo has been outsourcing components from major Tier 1 and Tier 2 companies like Minda HUF, Visteon, Arvin Meritor, Sundaram Clayton, and Rico Auto.
These major auto sources also obtain their critical components from India starting with the engine parts and making up nearly a third of all exports. Meanwhile other parts such as steering parts, body chassis, suspension and braking parts, equipment, electric parts, and other components make up for the remaining percentage of the automotive exports.
The demands for these automotive parts are growing. As a matter of fact it is projected that the industry will be having exports jumping from $1.8 billion in 2004-2005 to $5.9 billion in 2008-2009.
And according to the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India more than a third or 36 percent of Indian auto component exports are heading for Europe with North America closing in at second place with 26 percent.
Volvo just like the rest of other major automakers will tap onto the growing automotive industry in India which is not only known for its high quality but also its frugal engineering.
The ability to offer quality products at prices that can compete globally has led to a CAGR of 20 percent from 2000-2005. It was also in the year 2005 when the auto components industry was valued at over $10 billion and expected to double every four years to reach $18.7 billion in 2009 and $40 billion by 2014.
Volvo Trucks Deliveries Down In other Volvo news, this time with regards to Volvo Trucks North America---it has obtained a 62 percent decrease in deliveries of new trucks this year. Through August the truck deliveries to dealers and customers only reach 9,082 units down from 24,197 trucks obtained during the first eight months of 2006.
Truck deliveries do not exactly equal sales and according to Volvo officials they are expecting for their US truck sales to further decline this year. The dealers and trucking companies purchased a high number of trucks last year to counter the high emissions standards that took effect last January 1.

Audi Coil Springs and Audi control arm gives a comfortable ride
Audi Coil Springs and Audi control arm gives a comfortable ride
When it comes to people, most individuals consider one's background or past records if they wish to acquire an idea of the kind of person they are dealing with. The same thing applies when choosing a vehicle. History tells a lot of interesting facts and the background of a car company is often considered before one thinks about acquiring a particular car make or model. When it comes to the German automaker, Audi, consumers have an interesting history to read about—a history of excellence, passion and dedication. Audi has always founded its success as a company in this “Advancement Through Technology."" This has extended into every aspect of their work. By ensuring that only high quality performance parts are involved in the construction of their vehicles, Audi has cemented a reputation for being one of the leading car makers in the industry. This is even manifested in how Audi cars are equipped with reliable suspension systems that have been highly responsible for improving handling and braking. Safety and driving pleasure both are thus ensured. Such laudable features have been made possible with the help of Audi coil springs and the Audi control arm.
Audi coil springs are actually the most common among many different kinds of springs. They are also referred to, at time, as helical springs because they assume the shape of a helix or spiral. An Audi coil spring is usually made of elastic material that compress as well as expand in order to absorb the motion of the wheels. The coil spring supports the weight of the car and keeps it stable on different kinds of road surface. The spring is able to stretch when driving through a pot hole and to compress if humps are encountered. The Audi control arm, on the other hand, is used to attach suspension parts like Audi coil springs, to the chassis. When coil springs are used in both front and rear suspension, three or four control arms are placed between the rear axle housing and the frame to manage driving and brake torque. The lower control arms pivot on the frame members and sometimes support the rear coil springs to provide for up-and-down movement of the axle and wheel assembly. The two bottom points of the Chevy control arms that form the letter A are attached to the frame of the vehicle while the top point is secured to the spindle.
Proper maintenance of these mechanisms is the key to keeping them at the top of their game. Take the Audi control arm, for example, it must be lubricated every time an oil inspection is performed. Otherwise, handling and steering may become erratic if the control arms are malfunctioning and the unsteady movements of the vehicle will do away with riding comfort. While Audi coil springs can loose their tempering after a while and the springs may sag because they can no longer withstand the loads applied, one can take measures to ensure that they are fixed. A solution is to reset them to their original length or setting them to a different length. If one notices some irregularities with the suspension system, it is recommended to have it checked immediately to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.

Audi Quattro’s Renewed Glory
Audi Quattro’s Renewed Glory
Audi Quattro is a car make and model that is often identified with spectacular performance. This, together with its uniquely designed interiors and exterior, makes the Audi Quattro distinct from all other cars. Innovations of style and design that Audi has been recognized for are well manifested in all their Quattro models. No surprise then why first time Audi Quattro buyers owners always come away satisfied. For this reason, Audi continues its production of Quattro models, each one with upgrade than the last.
Cars of this must always be kept in good shape to ensure that the stunning performance it is capable of is never compromised. This is easy enough to do, since Audi Quattro Parts are being offered by a lot of aftermarket dealers. With such available sources in tow, even the oldest Quattro models will be able to regain a semblance of their former glory simply by securing new and high quality Audi Quattro Parts that match the specific make or model of the car in question. But while replacing old and impaired components with new Audi Quattro Parts, there is one device in particular that one must not forget: the Audi Catalytic Converter.
In this day and age, distinction is all very well and good but the emergence of greener technology, especially in the automotive industry, has given rise to the production of car devices that are more environmentally friendly. With car owners becoming more environmentally-conscious nowadays, making sure that one installs a catalytic converter in one's Audi vehicle is a must. An Audi Catalytic Converter is responsible for processing unburned fuel through a chemical reaction. Oxidization is the chemical reaction that turns carbon monoxide into a mixture of just carbon dioxide and water. This leads to the production of lesser harmful engine emissions. Thus, in the end, having a fully modified Quattro, updated with the latest Audi Quattro Parts that may include an Audi Catalytic Converter, is simply ideal. This is true not only in terms of acquiring a car capable of spectacular road performance but of having one that's healthy for the environment as well.

Mazda Drivers Care For The Air

Mazda Drivers Care For The Air
by Anthony Fontanelle
With over 70 years in the car industry, Mazda has paid due respect to the god that it was named after, Ahura-Mazda. All Mazda vehicles are able to show the functionality that people seek in a car. This is not only because the brand name is blessed by a god, but because Mazdas are trustingly made with high-quality materials that can outlast any stress from driving. Needless to say, they give what the drivers could only pray for. At the same time, Mazdas also never forget to give back to nature. This is proven by the Mazda Catalytic Converter.
True to the godly qualities implemented by the adept craftsmanship of the Japanese, Mazda also knows how to care for the environment. The Mazda Catalytic Converters have undergone tough deliberations and precise engineering to perfect their goal in reducing toxicity in emissions. The Mazda Catalytic Converter has three tasks to do simultaneously: to reduce nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and oxide, to oxidize carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide, and to oxidize unburnt hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water.
However, due to the presence of common catalyst poisons such as lead, zinc, sulfur, manganese, silicon, and phosphorous, one's Mazda Catalytic Converter might be rendered useless. Thus a keen car owner must take good care of his catalytic converters because it is only through this practice that he will be able to give back to his environment. This also measures how well his exhaust system performs. Aside from avoiding the use of lead gasoline, one must also remember that substances in the engine exhaust coat the surface of the catalyst, preventing further exhaust access to the catalytic materials.
Regular consultations with a professional also helps in the maintenance of the catalytic converter. The name Mazda echoes the principles and ideals of the god Ahura-Mazda., as what the Mazda car manifests to car owners worldwide. So it might just be safe to say that if one loves his environment, then he must rely on the Mazda cars to carry out his concern for the air he breathes.

Mazda 626 - Mazda 6's Best-selling Predecessor

Mazda 626 - Mazda 6's Best-selling Predecessor
by Anthony Fontanelle
Before the phenomenal Mazda 6 took the global mid-size car scene by storm, there was Mazda 626, a large family sedan produced by the Japanese carmaker from 1979 until 2002. Mazda 626 was based on the 616/618 and RX-2 platforms. Through cooperative efforts with Ford, the number of 626 sold units managed to reach more than 4.3 million worldwide before Mazda 6 took over the cudgels in 2002. Known domestically in Japan as Capella, the 626 invaded the Asian, Australasian, and Southern African market carrying the name Ford Telstar. In the US, Mazda 626 had its first run in 1979. The 626's were built at the Flat Rock, Michigan factory by the partnership of Mazda and Ford. Ten years later, Mazda 626 became the first Japanese-bred automobile certified by the US government as a domestic car. Nine years ago, it underwent a number of modifications that resulted to a sportier appearance for the model. With performance in mind, the designers also tweaked the suspension and exhaust system so the resulting car was well equipped to afford exceptional performance on both fronts.
The last Mazda 626 generation to be manufactured featured larger interiors and more powerful drivetrain than the earlier models. Perhaps one of the best selling Mazda vehicles ever, the mid-sized sedan has been relying heavily on its dependable set of Mazda 626 parts to deliver the goods. If the Mazda 626 parts were designed and constructed as they were, the car model would not have lasted for 23 years. However, despite Mazda 626's claim to fame and performance, there is no such thing as a perfect car. Even luxury cars and mid-sized saloons, such as the 626, are prone to breakdown. Thus, requiring the need for proper maintenance and regular repairs. Before being assembled, each Mazda 626 part underwent a series of tests to ensure that it reaches different standards of quality and safety. For the queue of discriminating minds behind the Mazda 626, these tests are not enough though. And in a continued effort to ensure passenger safety, the 626 has been subjected to quite a number of real runs outside the confines of its manufacturing plants and showrooms and off on the actual road. This is where Mazda 626 and Mazda 626 parts have, time and again, been put to trial until they succeed in proving their mettle.
Mazda has been known for making affordable, reliable and excellent quality vehicles. A striking example is Mazda 626, which, despite having ceased production, remains one of the best mid-sized cars running today.

Honda's First National Image Campaign features ASIMO
Honda's First National Image Campaign features ASIMO
by Evander Klum
ASIMO, "Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility", is one of Honda's outstanding creations. American Honda Motors is set to feature the popular robot in their first national broadcast corporate image campaign for two years. Such campaign will include a "Power of Dreams" spot, dedicated microsite, as well as print ads.
Asimo was built in Honda's Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center in Japan. It is a humanoid walking robot standing at 130 centimeters (4 feet and 5 inches) and weighing 53 kilograms (119 pounds). For those who haven't seen it yet, this robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack. And, currently, there are 46 units of it available worldwide, with each costing less than $1 million for manufacturing and $166,000 per year when hired.
Five years ago, Asimo was introduced to Honda's advertising, Honda's Corporate Advertising Manager Barbara Ponce said. "Using home video brings Asimo into the story but in a real way," she enthused. "The home video brings Honda technology to the customer in a manner that isn't overproduced or contrived. What you see is what you get. It underscores the importance of authenticity to our brand," she continued.
In the image campaign, the "Power of Dreams" is held the primary attraction. It is a 30-second spot which was directed by Phil Joanou under independent RPA Honda lead creatives David Smith and Joe Baratelli. First seen in a window reflection of Honda's prototype FCX hydrogen fuel-cell car, the climax of the spot is a video images featuring Asimo. It will also show Honda jet planes, solar racers, test-track racing and safety researchers in a home video-style movement to The Who's "I Can See for Miles." Its tagline? -- "See what we see".
Since Honda's "Safety for everyone" campaign emerged in October 2005, the launching of the image campaign is the first time of the company to use national advertising corporate image. And, it is part of showing that they are on move. Todd Carey, Vice President, associate creative director at RPA, Santa Monina, California, said that the spot serves as "Honda home movies, as shot by family member. Out desire was to show what Honda is working on, from an engineering standpoint, and the human side as well." In addition, the ad facilities were an emotional connection with Honda engineering, as he said.
Carey said that the campaign actually originated through an "organic process" of multiple interviews with people at Honda. He said, "Through the conversations, we started to hear the same things: No matter who we talk to, no matter what project, there was a shared vision." A conversation with a passionate Honda engineer became an inspiration for them to show the world what Honda is going through and to.
Moreover, Ponce said the "longer-term, philosophical" approach is unique, as it shows the "human engineering" side of the company. And, this Honda's engineering focus is their distinction from the others, definitely more than providing quality auto parts like Honda intermediate pipe to their latest model cars.

Mazda 6 - the mid-size cars' crème de la crème

More : Mazda 6 - the mid-size cars' crème de la crème
by Anthony Fontanelle
With redefining of global standards in the mid-size car segment in mind, Mazda came up with the Mazda 6 - the carmaker's tour de force in terms of maneuverability, design, safety, and environmental performance. Locally known in Japan as Atenza, Mazda 6 was launched in 2003 as a replacement to the legendary 626. Just like its sister Mazda 3, Mazda 6 has successfully earned the admiration of enthusiasts and market critics alike. Since its first run, Mazda 6 has already surpassed the one million mark in sales worldwide. A testament to Mazda 6's meteoric rise to stardom is the handful of awards and honors it has already garnered. It was a one-time second placer in the European Car of the Year search and made Car & Driver magazine's list of Ten Best Cars for 2003. Mazda 6's Sport Wagon won the Canadian Car of the Year Best New Station Wagon award, while the Sport Sedan won the car search's Best New Family Car award for 2005. The Atenza Wagon also bagged What's Car's Best Estate award in 2004.
The Mazda 6 line-up has virtually turned the mid-size segment upside-down with a bold proposition: Why not design a car that's practical and stylish but also exhilarating to drive? Mazda 6 brings all three factors together. First, the Sports Sedan takes the engine craftsmanship and detail of a sedan into the fast lane by adding on striking speed into the car's already impressive queue of talents. Second, a standard V6 engine and tons of smart space make the Sport Wagon the perfect alternative to boring sedans and bulky minivans. Finally, the versatile and spacious 5-Door offers a run of practical features in a sleek, fun-to-drive package. Anchoring the mid-size car segment, this Japanese juggernaut's run is made possible by a set of reliable and exclusive Mazda 6 parts. On top of the list of Mazda 6 performance parts is the duo team of MZR petrol and MZR-CD common-rail diesel engines, with the latter one highly-rated because of its fairly low emissions. Another unique Mazda 6 part Titanium T-shaped instrument panel adds a bit of style to the car's dashboard.
Other Mazda 6 parts include big storage place, four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) system, standard three-spoke steering wheel, a nine-liter glove box, and an immobilizer system. Along with an organic design that flows into a streamlined body, and smooth curves, Mazda 6 makes sure it stands head and shoulders above the boxy cars of today.

How Do I Go About Buying Japanese Used Cars?
How Do I Go About Buying Japanese Used Cars?

Many people prefer to buy used cars because they are, first and foremost, less expensive than new or first-hand cars. But how does one go about buying used cars - in particular, Japanese used cars?
Japanese used cars are those cars which belong to well-known brands of Japanese car manufacturers. Some popular names that Japanese used cars have are Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi. The term Japanese used cars may also be used to refer to used cars that were previously owned by Japanese owners, so this encompasses even those cars which are not of Japanese make (possibly American, for instance.) Whichever of these categories you inquire into, it is always possible to buy Japanese used cars.
When looking for places to find a Japanese used car for sale, remember that the Internet is one place where you can always make convenient, timely, and fast inquiries. To find perfect choices among used Japanese cars, you can visit online auction sites (such as eBay - don't laugh, eBay was even used to sell a real airplane once for millions of dollars, so why not a used Japanese car?) The nice thing about online auction sites (which may or may not be maintained by a Japanese used car exporter) is that they may have a database or pool of Japanese used cars in various colors, makes and brands that you can examine. Another nice thing about using the Internet is that you need not leave your home or office just to make inquiries. A prudent and practical online auction site will always entertain even idle inquiries, because they never know when they might be able to close a sale on their stock of used Japanese cars.
Many of the Japanese used car exporter companies use the Internet nowadays to expand the reach of their operations. They may offer simply used Japanese cars, or they may go so far as to offer damaged Japanese used cars as well. Why would anyone buy a damaged car? Well, you might be surprised but that Japanese used car for sale from the Japanese used car exporter you clicked on might have valuable components or car parts that can be used by someone else. For example, if the used Japanese car is a particularly popular model among vintage car collectors, parts from that used Japanese car would command quite a price since the manufacturer has stopped producing that model already. There are also damaged Japanese used cars which may have an interesting story behind them - some people are quirky enough that if the story surrounding the car is bizarre or outlandish enough, they would attempt to buy it.
When you look on the website of the Japanese used car dealer you are inquiring with, it helps if they maintain real pictures of the actual used Japanese cars they are offering to the public. Like they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, which in this case means the proof of the sale is in looking. So, to see is to believe.

Sport Cars, Designer Suits, Expensive Cigars and Watches
Sport Cars, Designer Suits, Expensive Cigars and Watches
by Ivan Cuxeva Jr
For many owning a sports car, designer suits and expensive watches is a dream only possible in the movies. Even as children we are almost programmed to turn and look at the beautiful sleek sports car as it cruises through the town. Sports cars are the zenith of motoring and something which people dedicate their lives to. These are a symbol of success and money which attracts many women and make men jealous.
Everyone can name at least one sports car, Ferrari's, Porsches, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus and Lamborghini to name just a few. So what is the appeal of such unobtainable cars? Sports cars aren't for convenience or practicalities; they are purely made to be beautiful and luxurious. Why is it that so many of our own screen hero's don't drive practical 4x4's or be economically friendly and cycle? Can we really picture James Bond turning up to save the world in a 5 door hatchback? No. Sports cars do exactly what they say on the tin. They are fast; they only hold 2 people and don't worry about space for things like groceries.
Sports cars were initially manufactured for the affluent classes as the "ordinary" cars of the day were dull and boring and practical. Sports cars provided the luxury of speed, safety and comfort. For those who buying a car is not a necessity but a pleasure, you can buy and sell sport and luxury cars by visiting Exotics-Auto.com which is a classified specialized in such cars. If you need more information about such automobiles or to have a picture for your desktop until you can buy a real one, visit TuneAuto.com. the automobile Portal and image gallery where you can find latest news and images for different cars. You can complete your man about town image by buying the latest fashion and accessories from Armani, Brioni (Suit maker for James Bond), BOSS, Kiton and Ralph Lauren or expensive cigars and watches like Cartier and Breitling from some of web sites that offer these products at more reasonable prices such as ChicDogs.com which is a Portal for luxury and designer products.
Here is your chance to live the life that seems only possible in the movies, what are you waiting for?

Mazda 5 Redesigned For Su-Premacy

Mazda 5 Redesigned For Su-Premacy
Ford’s Japanese subsidiary, the Mazda Motor Corp., producer of OEM Mazda parts, has earlier announced the modifications it has entertained on the sporty and sleek Premacy range in Japan.
The redesigned Mazda 5 reaches su-Premacy. With notable updates and upgrades, the Mazda 5 is bound for the United States this fall with a new name. Brace yourself for a bolder and more fuel-efficient car.
"Indeed we'll get the face-lifted model, as well as a host of other updates and upgrades," Mazda North American Operations Director of Product and Corporate Affairs Jeremy Barnes told Inside Line. "We'll have more to say about the next Mazda 5 in the next month or so."
A freshened Mazda Premacy, which is the name of the Mazda 5 in Japan, went on sale earlier this month, offering a bunch of exciting features to lure more American shoppers. For the 2008, model year, the Premacy will come with front-wheel drive and a new five-speed automatic transmission.
The 2007 model of the car, meanwhile, is equipped with an optional four-speed automatic transmission. If the 2008 Mazda 5 would be similarly equipped with the optional five-speed automatic transmission, shoppers can expect to get enhanced fuel economy.
As regards environmental performance, Premacy’s fuel economy is improved by featuring the S-VT together with the electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission. All of the FWD models equipped with the 2.0 liter MZR engine meet Japan’s 2010 fuel economy standards plus ten percent which makes them eligible for Japan’s Green Tax exemptions. Additionally, the FWD and four-wheel-drive (4WD) model variants qualify as Super-Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles (SU-LEV) with exhaust emissions that are 75 percent lesser than what the Japanese government’s 2005 exhaust emissions regulations require.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the 2007 Mazda 5 with the four-speed automatic transmission returns 19 miles per gallon in city driving and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. The redesigned Premacy also gets an upgraded suspension and expands sequential valve timing, or S-VT. The pool of Mazda engineers has entertained the upgrades to improve the performance of the 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter MZR engines in all model grades.
The Premacy features a sportier front end with new Mazda headlights, along with LED indicator lights embedded in the door mirrors and LED rear combination lights on the premium model. The Japanese automaker also revised the instrument panel design and layout to add a dash of elegance. Also, blacked-out dials with white illumination have been added. What is more, interior colors and seat fabric (using Mazda’s biofabric) have been modified.
The Premacy has stability control as an option on a "larger range of models." The automaker said that the Premacy also comes in seven new body colors, including "Golden Sand Metallic."
The restyled models for Mazda’s performance compact minivan are now available in Japan at all Mazda, Mazda Anfini, and Mazda Autozam dealers. The target sales volume per month for the Premacy is 1,800 units. Pricing on the Premacy ranges from $15,662 to $20,863.

Audi Targets American Luxury Market

Audi Targets American Luxury Market
Audi AG is setting its sights on a far larger slice of the American luxury car market with a plan to more than double its sales there to 200,000 by 2015.
"We are selling 95,000 [vehicles] now. By 2015 we want a doubling of the number," Ralph Weyler, Audi's head of marketing and sales, told the Financial Times.
Audi’s ambitious target is the German automaker’s effort to close the sales gap with industry leader Toyota Motor Corp. by investing in territories where the Japanese car manufacturer dominates. The premium brand of Volkswagen AG will put emphasis on the manufacture and sale of sport utilities, the segment where Toyota is hauling shoppers.
Martin Winterkorn, the Volkswagen CEO, wants the brand to increase its global sales by ten percent a year and exceed eight million units by 2010.
Additionally, the German automaker will retool its dealership network in the United States. The company will also develop a new sport utility dubbed the Q5. This is to elevate its standing in the world’s biggest auto market. This is why the company is improving not only the Audi clutch master cylinder and other auto parts but the entire lineup itself.
Audi has to struggle to cope with the increasing challenge in the American market where it is less successful that European automakers like BMW. Audi intends to become "the most successful premium brand in the world", with 1.5 million sales by 2015, although BMW's own unit sales targets are even more ambitious. Audi's newest models are receiving rave reviews in Europe, and in China the brand outsells both BMW and Mercedes.
In the United States, the brand has underperformed since the 1980s, when reported problems with "unintended acceleration" of one of its cars hit its business. To stress, Mercedes-Benz and BMW were quicker to develop sport utilities - a popular auto format in America. More recently, Audi has been successful with its Q7 SUV.
Audi planned to increase the quality of its dealers in the US, many of which are "multi-franchise" outfits selling its cars alongside those of other brands, Weyler said. The company has about 110 exclusive dealers, and will maintain its focus on large metropolitan areas on the American coasts and cities such as Dallas, Houston and Chicago.
Sales of luxury cars in the United States are proving tough in spite of recent market volatility linked to the subprime mortgage crisis. BMW, Mercedes, Toyota's Lexus brand and Audi all reported higher sales in August this year. Unlike Mercedes and BMW, both of which have factories in the United States, Audi had no plans for local production. "At the moment, we don't have adequate volume," Weyler said.
Volkswagen, on the other hand, is weighing the possibility of building its first US production plant.

Power of Audi

Power of Audi
by Anthony Fontanelle
It was a new record. About 250,920 spectators attended the 75th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and watched the Audi R10 TDI win back to back victories. For Audi, it was the seventh win in nine starts at the French long-distance classic. Indeed, when it comes to racing, Audi models have had a quite successful history. In the United States, the 2003 SSCA Speed World GT Challenge saw an Audi RS6 compete with Corvettes, Vipers and BMWs. All of them proved inferior to the RS6, as the Audi.
Taking engineering to the next level, Audi produces the same high octane design in every automobile it releases out in the consumer market. These cars are equipped with highly efficient parts and accessories that supplement the overall performance of Audi. On the subject of acceleration, the Audi Belts provide the essential capability to control the timing of the engine's valves. A timing pulley transmits force to the belt via evenly spaced grooves, which meet with the teeth in the belt. These same grooves and teeth prevent belt slippage. Synchronous belt drives are highly efficient and contribute to power transmission. The Audi belt basically connects the crankshaft to the camshaft which, in turn, controls the opening and closing of the engine's valves. Of course, efficient timing belts results clockwork precision in engine operation. On the other hand, another Audi part offers superior stopping power. The Audi brake booster, typically mounted on the firewall, amplifies the available foot pressure applied to the brakes. Its power is derived from the vacuum coming from the engine. Audi specifically developed the boosters to effectively support the braking technology in every Audi vehicle.
Audi sets new goals for the incoming years. The European car maker is working on pursuing leading-edge technology and innovative, unconventional design. With parts like the Audi belt and Audi brake booster, Audi's current success proves to be just the tip of a gigantic iceberg.

How To Buy At Online Car Auctions UK
How To Buy At Online Car Auctions UK
by Chris Rache
Buying a car at online car auctions can be more exciting than car boot sales, second-hand and antique shops. The range of different makes and models auctioned online is amazing - you could spend hours just browsing.!
You can pick up a bargain, find a sought-after car to add to your collection, or even a new family car.
However, like most things in life, commonsense must prevail. You need to do some research yourselves to acquaint yourself with the going market value. Now this also can be achieved online in the UK. Your local newspapers carry classified ads, as do the daily's. Once you have a good feel for the market values, you are unlikely to pay too much.
Read the fine print. This one can catch people out easily as you need to be aware of all the terms and conditions before you start to bid. Is there a buyer premium payable. How will settlement be made. How do you get the vehicle after the auction is complete. Is there registration to take care of.? All things you must know before hand.
Now for the really hard part.. You only have the sellers description of the condition of the vehicle and any faults the car may have. This puts you at some disadvantage and also introduces a large element of risk.! However, there is possibly another way to purchase your car at auction and that is by using an online auction database to find out where live auctions will sell cars.
Perhaps the best thing is to use a reliable and regularly updated database to find car auctions in the UK close to your village or town. There are lots happening all the time. Find some that have the makes and models available that you wish to buy. Remember though, you still need to do the research as above and know your market.
Next on the list is to check the vehicles over before you bid. Watch how the other bidders go over the vehicles. Perhaps even ask your local Auto Mechanic to go with you or maybe offer to buy them lunch. A little money spent here can save you a pile of trouble later on. Attend a few car auctions yourself just as an observer to see how things work. There is nothing worse than turning up at the appointed hour ready to buy and not having the faintest idea of what to do.. Good luck at the auction.

Quality Audi Parts and Audi A4 Parts
Quality Audi Parts and Audi A4 Parts
by Anthony Fontanelle
Audi, which is Germany's oldest automobile manufacturer, technically started by building avant-garde, mid-sized models back in 1910, in Zwickau, Germany. Since then, it has produced top cars in the automobile industry, including the Audi A4--employing top-of-the-line Audi Parts in the process.
The German-native Audi is renowned for offering cars that employ Audi parts known for quality performance, design, and technology. In 1994, Audi came out with Audi A4, which is an entry-level luxury car, as a replacement for Audi 80 and Audi 90. Coming from the Volkswagen Group, Audi A4 boasts of Audi Parts that cater to models in the sports sedan line. A sophisticated Audi A4 beauty flaunts a 16" seven-arm, forged alloy wheels, an activated charcoal filter for dust and pollen control as well as aerodynamic halogen headlights with integrated low and high beam tubes, an adjustable interior rearview mirror, center display with outside temperature gauge and distance-to-empty indicator. These features are only to name a few. Aside from its features, the athletic elegance of Audi A4 Parts also makes it an exceptional sedan.
Audi A4 Parts are also priced for what they are capable of adding to the equation: better control, confidence, and dynamism in the performance of such compact, executive cars. This four-wheel drive is adept at making people wonder and managing street corners wherever it goes. Atypical Audi A4 has turbo-boosted 2.0 T or the muscular 3.2 V6, which are two high-performing engine choices. For thirteen years, Audi has released a number of commercially successful cars in the market. Today, the Audi A4 has new wheel packages and new styles certain to suit and satisfy the many whims and tastes of different buyers or owners of an Audi A4. While concept cars such as the A4 may exhibit differences in paint color, the cars generally have the same high-performance Audi A4 Parts that owners are certain to enjoy. Although different looks for the AudiA4 may abound, the ability to perform at its best is one particular quality that all AudiA4 models share.

All About Hybrid Vehicles

All About Hybrid Vehicles
by Lydia Quinn
With fuel costs continuing to rise and the many environmental concerns with using a traditional gas engine vehicle, the need has arisen for vehicles that save on fuel costs and also are more friendly to the environment. To fill this need, hybrid cars have risen from relative obscurity to enjoy mainstream success with strong sales.
The general definition of a hybrid vehicle can be traced back thousands of years, even to ancient sea vessels that used the power of both wind and rowing. This term can refer to any vehicle that uses two or more methods of power, including gas, electric, natural gas, vegetable oil, fuel cells, ethanol and other biofuels.
How Does It Work?
While there are many different types of hybrid vehicles with different mechanisms for power, let's examine one of the most popular hybrids on the road today, the Toyota Prius. The Prius uses both gas and electricity. Under the hood, it includes an internal combustion engine (gas engine) and an electric motor, with each system connected to each other and the vehicle through the vehicle's transmission. For power storage, the vehicle uses a battery, which is also used to power the vehicle's accessories like air conditioning and climate control. The electric motor and internal combustion engine work in parallel, which means that either or both can power the vehicle at the same time. Regenerative braking is also included in the Prius, which saves and stores kinetic energy while braking. The transmission of the Prius is a continuously variable transmission, which uses an onboard computer to eliminate the need for shifting.
Costs
In general, hybrid vehicles cost more upfront to purchase than a conventional vehicle with the same general specifications. A Prius, for example, costs between $20,000 and $24,000 depending on the options you select. A similar vehicle with a conventional engine can cost several thousand dollars less. Upfront, the costs are significantly higher. Over the long run though, a hybrid can save in fuel costs, thereby absorbing the upfront additional cost and then paying for itself in fuel savings over the course of years.
Advantages
- Cost savings is a huge factor, while the savings may take a while to come to fruition, fuel efficiency and cost savings in the long run is a serious advantage - Environmentally, a hybrid is a sound car to drive, with less gas needed and less pollution - The hybrid cars of yesteryear, with their funny looks and funny names are being replaced by sporty and elegant looking hybrids, there are even SUV's available that are hybrids. If looks were a concern then, they aren't now.
Future Of Hybrids
The future is uncertain for hybrids, with so many other fuel saving and environmentally safe alternatives already in the pipeline or in development including many biofuels, fuel cells, full on electric powered cars, as well as ethanol making a huge splash, hybrids will need to evolve even further to keep their lead.

Audi Air Filter - Boosting Engine's Power
Audi Air Filter - Boosting Engine's Power
by Anthony Fontanelle
Audi has come a long way as a leading manufacturer of exquisite cars---attractive, sophisticated and technically proficient. The European car maker strives to run toe-to-toe with its rivals through the company's innovations and standards, which is consistent with the brand's claim of "progress through technology." Just like any other vehicles, Audi's roster of cars such as A3, A4, and TT, rely heavily on well-integrated performance parts. It is for this reason why owners who are looking for Audi Aftermarket Parts should take into consideration the quality and specific benefit/role of each part.
An important Audi Aftermarket Parts is the Audi Air Filter. A typical Audi Air Filter is a disposable, pleated-paper element with a sealing gasket made of synthetic material. Audi air filters are available in two main types: the panel style as used in most fuel-injected cars and the radial style, found in carbureted vehicles. An Audi Air Filter that is in tiptop shape traps dirt particles, which can cause damage to engine cylinders, walls, pistons and piston rings. Audi air filters also keep contaminants off the airflow sensor, which is attached in some fuel-injected cars. The filter sometimes cleans the air that enters the crankcase ventilation. Hence, the Audi Air Filter also serves as a silencer for the car's intake system. A typical automobile engine uses more than 10,000 gallons of air for every gallon of fuel burned. Because of this, air filter's role is very important.
Although there may be a prescribed in-between inspection period for the air filter, a checkup coinciding with oil change could be a good precautionary measure. Yet, dirty and dusty driving conditions require more frequent filter replacements, so keep this in mind. Driving with a dirty filter restricts the air entering the engine, eventually affecting fuel economy and performance. Most Audi air filters can be easily replaced by removing snap clips, a clamp or several screws. Just like any other Audi Aftermarket Parts, the replacement Audi Air Filter cut out exactly for an owner's vehicle. An erroneously-fitted filter may allow unrestricted air into the engine, causing engine damage. For Audi to maintain its 'sophisticated' image, owners should only look for compatible Audi Aftermarket Parts.

Key Audi Parts: the Audi Ball Joint and Audi Antenna

Key Audi Parts: the Audi Ball Joint and Audi Antenna
by Anthony Fontanelle
In the vast world of automotive engineering, few manufacturers actually perceive the importance of integrating only the best parts and accessories for their vehicles. As a matter of fact, some commercial automobiles in the market today have integrated features that do not really enhance the overall vehicle performance. However, there are leading car makers that produce car parts for the exact purpose of optimum functionality.
Take Audi for example. This German corporation personifies prowess in automotive engineering. Currently, Audi's sales are growing strongly in Europe. In 2004, Audi marked its 11th straight increase in sales, selling 779,441 vehicles worldwide. Garnering countless awards and recognition, Audi cars are highly praised for the key components nestled within their automotive system. Two examples of Audi components working with clockwork precision are the Audi ball joints and Audi Antenna.
The Audi ball joint consists of a hardened-steel, bearing stud and socket enclosed in a steel housing. The bearing stud is conical and threaded and is slotted into a tapered hole in the steering knuckle. A protective boot keeps dirt from entering the joint assembly. Basically, the Audi ball joint serves as the pivot point between the tires and suspension. It is a given fact that a lightweight Audi suspension greatly contributes to the car's handling and braking. It provides good active safety and comfortable driving that virtually isolates the cabin from road noise, bumps, and vibrations. A key suspension system part is the Audi ball. There is also a device that proves to be a favorite among consumers. For top-notch sound systems, the Audi antenna is considered a must. Audi provides power antennas that are fully automatic, direct replacement, and chrome telescope.
The combination of innovative engineering and classic detailing proved to be the catalyst that made Audi the leader that it is. As for what the future might bring, it is safe to say that with the Audi ball joint and the Audi antenna, every lineup of Audi vehicles will surely be a major success.

How To Buy At Miami Car Auction Sales
How To Buy At Miami Car Auction Sales
by Chris Rache
Buying used cars at auction sales is not for the faint hearted. Nor is it something you just roll up and attend, then drive off in a steal of a bargain.!
Purchasing an auto at a Miami auction sale requires planning, research, and a lot of commonsense. If you are the sort of person who easily gets emotionally attached to something you see for sale, then buying a car through auction is probably not going to save you money. In fact you may end up setting a new record at a Miami car auction for the highest price paid.!
One of the first things to do, is to speak with the auction house directly about their terms and conditions. You want to avoid any nasty surprises. Find out how much the buyer premium is. This is basically a fee they charge to register you and give you the right to bid. You can attend for free and just observe if you wish. That is also the best way to understand what goes on at the car auction sales.
Also, ask them about the payment options and when you can actually get the vehicle you have bought. Make sure you will get all the relevant paperwork with clear title and ownership. Confirm the registration status as well.
Take your Kelly Blue Book with you or check out the normal dealer prices for the models you are interested in purchasing at the motor auction. This way you will know when the bidding has reached normal market price. It will also tell you when the bidding is at a level where you can still get a saving on your car purchase.
The last point is to check the vehicles over before you bid. Watch how the other bidders go over the vehicles. Perhaps even ask your local Auto Technician or Mechanic to go with you, or maybe offer to buy them lunch. A little money spent here can save you a pile of trouble later on. As an extra note, perhaps consider arranging some temporary insurance cover before driving away in your new car..
There are auction sales selling used cars happening almost every day, somewhere in Miami. Some auctions are fed with Autos seized by Government agencies, some are expired fleet leases, while others are dealers and private people selling for a number of reasons.

So Where Is The Electric Car

So Where Is The Electric Car?
by Frank Vanderlugt
The electric car, once touted as the "car of the future." It runs quietly and has no negative impact on the environment while you're driving down the road. It could be the way for our society to free itself from its dependency on oil. So where is the electric car? Why are they not produced by the millions?
One of the most prominent setbacks of the electric car is that the maximum speed necessary for ordinary highway travel is difficult to achieve. Many people own an electric car to use only when driving on errands around town because long-distance trips are out of the question.
This is not to say that an electric car has never achieved high speeds. In fact, the REVA is one such electric car that's available only as a neighborhood electric car in the US but has the maximum electric car capabilities in the UK, allowing even some highway travel. Still, top electric car speeds don't match that of gas-powered cars.
Another drawback of the electric car is its size. The bigger the car, the more energy is needed to power the car. The electric car's current capabilities are only enough to power relatively small cars. A modern family with a few groceries or packages would not find a small electric car convenient.
And what of the environmentally-friendly aspect of electric cars? Most people who are willing to spend the extra money and to live with the aforementioned inconveniences of having an electric car do so because they are tried of ever-climbing gas prices and of the world's dependency on polluting oil. Electric cars are entirely clean and have no negative impact on the environment--while they're running, at least.
Unless you're one of the very few who live in a city with an alternate energy power plant or you've converted your residence to be powered by alternative energy such as solar power, hydroelectric power, or wind power and you only charge your electric car battery at those outlets, your electric car pollutes.
If you get your electrical energy from a coal-burning plant, the electric car's battery is contributing to burning coal as it charges--at a rate which is not much less than burning gas in a car. If your city is powered by nuclear power, at least it's a cleaner burning form of energy, but there is still the problem of the disposal of toxic waste. Plus, you're spending just about if not more money on the extra charge on your utility bill as you would at the gas pump.
So the electric car has been put back on the drawing board, every so often resurfacing with a new innovation to counteract some of these problems. The most popular and successful twist on the electric car has been the hybrid car, which runs partially on gas and partially on the electric car battery.
The hybrid car cuts back on gas and electric battery charging pollution and the amount you spend on gas and utilities, but combined, they're still not far from the pollution and cost of maintaining a gas-powered car. Still, hybrid cars allow for a bigger size vehicle and for top speeds on highways.
If you're thinking about buying an electric car, make sure that all of these inconveniences are worth it and that the reason you're buying an electric car--you want to cut back on pollution, for example--is actually worthwhile. If you want to send a message about oil and cut back on gas consumption, you might want to look into a hybrid car instead.

Ford cars take to the big screen

Ford cars take to the big screen
by CoverGirl
There's nothing better than visiting the cinema with your mates and catching the latest action packed blockbuster and what better what to make any film come alive than by including some of the best cars ever to be produced? I am, of course, talking about those made by Ford.
Ford has got to be one of the most sought after car makes in the UK with thousands on young drivers eager to spend their much hard earned money of their very own Fiesta, Focus or Ka. And let's face it, with such famous reliability customers can always be assured that they'll get a good deal on their Ford car insurance.
So, with such heightened popularity it makes sense that a number of Ford models would appear on the big screen. You might not get asked about the latest movies that you've seen when getting an online quote for Ford car insurance but it's always nice to impress people with some motoring facts when having brunch with your friends.
So where did it all begin? Well, years before any of us were able to search the internet for woman car insurance, Mr Henry Ford established a relationship with the film industry by presenting Charli Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks with Model T's. Let's not forget, this exchange happened a century ago when cars were still a very much new and exciting form of transport. This kind gesture by Henry Ford definitely had some taking in the strong relationship that car manufacturers continue to have with the world of movies today.
Myles J. Romeo, manager of the Ford Global Brand Entertainment Group, said, "Ford Motor Company has been providing stars with cars for as long as the film industry has exists. Whether it's Keystone Kops driving Model T's or CIA agent Sydney Bristow in a Ford Escape Hybrid on 'Alias', Ford vehicles have been a part of the entertainment world for nearly a century."
He added, "It's very important for directors and screenwriters to have the precise vehicle for a film. With the wide range of vehicles in the Ford corporate family, it's easy to match the exact vehicle to a film's specific needs."
Just to demonstrate Ford's success, in a recent survey to find the best all-time car starring in a movie, Ford walked away with the number two spot with its Mustangs appearance in the 1968 movie Bullitt. In this film, Steve McQueen drives through the streets of San Francisco in what has become known as one of the greatest chase scenes that has ever been made.
But Ford hasn't only made appearances in movies. Nope, its models have also featured in some of today's top television programmes, delivering the name Ford to millions of viewers who may one day take out Ford car insurance themselves. Some of the programmes we're talking about include the popular teen drama The O.C, the hit comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm and even one of the best series to take to the TV screens, Desperate Housewives.
Ford is definitely a recognisable name in the industry that many people feel happy to use in their movies.
Josh Hancock has been an automotive consultant in the film industry for 15 years and says, "Cars tell you something about the character and add another dimension to them. If it's not done right, it throws everything off. With a portfolio as broad as Ford's you can have a Range Rover and a Jaguar and a Mustang all in the same film, and it doesn't look unnatural or as if you're pushing something."
So, there you have it. Although you might be more familiar with the aspects of getting cheap motor insurance for your latest Ford purchase, the next time you're eating popcorn in the cinema, take a closer look at the vehicles used in the movie and you might just find you are looking at your Fiesta's production line sister.

New Car Buying Advice: Finding the Perfect Vehicle
New Car Buying Advice: Finding the Perfect Vehicle
by Cliff Frayne
Your car may be the second largest purchase you make in your lifetime. You must take your time and not let it become a strictly emotional decision. Before you go out browsing dealer lots consider the following.
How will I use my new car, truck or SUV? A mini-van will fit fine in a large family but might be out of place in a singles life. Do you go off-road allot but still like to carry more than 2 passengers, go for the SUV. Trucks have come along way, most comforts available in today's truck rival luxury cars but do you really need that to carry construction equipment to the job site? If you do not go off-road, don't buy a 4x4 truck. The extra weight will only decrease gas mileage and increase maintenance costs. Afraid of the snow? Look to the variety of AWD vehicles on the market which provide excellent traction in the snow and also more economical operation. Take a serious look at your life and find the vehicle which most compliments that lifestyle.
Color choices. This is a personal preference but rational can come into play. In warmer climates a lighter colored car will stay cooler. Certain cars are easier to keep clean also. White and black are the worst to keep clean. Tan, silver, and brown hide dirt quite well.
Interior options. Do you need the heated seats? Well that depends on where you live and how much winter driving you do. Leather seats can be unbearable in the summer months and generally harder to maintain. Do you listen to allot of music? The premium sound system might be a great idea but if you only listen to talk radio then the base system will be more than enough.
Insurance rates. Take into consideration the insurance rates before you start you car buying quest. That Honda maybe allot cheaper to insure than the Ferrari which caught your eye last week. Talk with your insurance agent to find out what is considered a sports car, which usually raises your premiums.
This short article is designed to get you thinking about what you need to consider before taking a ride to the car dealer. It should also help you to plan what type of car to purchase. Take your time and plan what you will buy and you will save thousands of dollars and countless hours of headache free driving.

Automotive Tools for your Home Garage
Automotive Tools for your Home Garage
by Jason Miller
You can save hundreds of dollars on garage fees every year by carrying out minor servicing and maintenance jobs on your car yourself. Armed with a selection of widely available Automotive Tools , a garage manual for your car, and enough time and patience to get a job done properly, pretty much anyone can carry out the routine tasks needed to keep your car on the road and running smoothly. One of the most satisfying aspects of carrying out maintenance tasks on your vehicle - aside from saving money on expensive garage bills - is that you are able to get an understanding of how the car works, and the more you understand about the vehicle, the easier it is to put things right in the event of a breakdown.
Any home garage requires a good selection of automotive tools to carry out work on a car. Some vehicles from certain manufacturers have non standard machining and sizes used throughout their construction, and you will need to get automotive specialty tools designed for the purpose of working on that particular car from a motor store. No home workshop is complete without a trolley jack and axle stands to allow you to get under the car and do things like oil changes and exhaust checks.
For most small jobs, such as changing the oil or replacing filters, changing the spark plugs and brake pads on your vehicle, general tools such as a wrench and a screwdriver are all that is required, and these are widely available in most hardware stores. It is a good idea to keep your automotive tools separate from other tools you may have, because if you begin a job and then discover that the tool you want to use is missing, it can cause major headaches.
Twenty years ago, cars were much simpler to maintain and understand than they are today. Computerised engine management systems and adjustable fuel injectors are now commonplace, and special automotive diagnostic tools are required in order to make adjustments to the engine timing and fuel air mix, whereas in the past, these jobs could be done quite simply.
Areas of the car that almost anyone can handle the regular maintenance of are the interior and exterior panels. Simple scratches and dents to the bodywork are easy to repair using a soft mallet for panel beating and abrasive paper, spray paint and filler for paintwork repairs.
If your car is well used, the interior is likely to start to look tired and dated and in need of a little tender loving care. Thankfully, there are many automotive upholstery tools available to help you to tidy up the interior of the car and bring it back to its sparkling best. You can repair small tears and burns on the seats by darning them or applying a repair patch over the affected area. The trim of the car can be brought back to life with a good buffing using a polisher, while using specialist tools it is possible to repair the carpets or even replace them.
Of course there is much more to owning and maintaining a car than just tightening nuts and sewing up split seams, and you may find that you want to add non-stock parts such as a more efficient air filter or new exhaust to improve performance, and once you understand the basics of automotive maintenance, upgrades and tuning will become more accessible, saving you even more money in the long term.
Doing small jobs yourself can save you plenty of money on garage bills, and having the right automotive tools to get the jobs done is an excellent idea that will save you time and effort in the long run. However, one of the most important things for any mechanic to know is when to pass over a job to an expert, and rather than potentially do more damage than good, to get a qualified mechanic to carry out work on a car.

Volkswagen 2007 Sales To Rise To Record

Volkswagen 2007 Sales To Rise To Record
by Anthony Fontanelle
Volkswagen AG, Europe's biggest automaker, said that sales of its namesake brand will rise to a record this year after gaining 8.3 percent in the past eight months - thanks to the escalating demand for its best-selling Golf model, with more than 25 million units built by 2007.
According to the Wolfsburg, Germany-based automaker, global deliveries will rise at least 3.2 percent to more than 3.5 million vehicles. The automaker sold 3.39 million Volkswagen-brand cars and sport-utility vehicles in the previous year.
"By the end of the year Volkswagen will deliver more than 3.5 million vehicles, more than ever before," VW brand sales and marketing chief Michael Kern said in a statement on Thursday.
Volkswagen Golf, a small compact car, was the first successful replacement for the air-cooled Beetle. The Golf's success made the use of the hatchback in the C segment of cars popular. Based on Bloomberg data, Golf sales in the first half, the latest figures available, rose ten percent to 300,600 vehicles, and the automaker has added shifts at the main Wolfsburg plant to increase production.
The current Golf will be replaced in 2008 with the next generation model. Sales generally decline for cars nearing the end of their life cycle as customers wait for the new version.
Chief Executive Officer Martin Winterkorn announced plans last week to add 12 models at the Volkswagen group within the next three years as he seeks to boost sales to 8 million vehicles. Groupwide sales this year will rise to a record 6 million cars and SUVs, from 5.73 million in 2006, he said.
The German automaker said that sales at the namesake brand increased by 12 percent in August, led by growth in China. Additionally, worldwide deliveries climbed to 286,000 cars and sport- utility vehicles, automaker said in an e-mailed statement. Eight-month sales gained 8.3 percent from a year earlier to 2.4 million vehicles.
The automaker also said that the unit sales of its Volkswagen brand totaled 286,000 in August, up 12.1 percent compared with the same month last year. For the January-August period, total unit sales were 8.3 percent higher year-on-year, Forbes reported.
The maker of Volkswagen gear shift repair kit said that it expects to sell more than 3.5 million vehicles of the core brand by the end of the year. The German automaker also intimated that the Volkswagen brand will increase sales by over 3.1 percent this year, thanks to strong growth in emerging markets like Argentina, Brazil, and China.
In 2006, models like the Eos hardtop retractable coupe-cabriolet, as reported by Reuters, helped augment the automaker's core brand sales by ten percent to nearly 3.4 million units. At present, the automaker is striving to improve its lineup to pull more shoppers.

Setting up a Surround Sound Audio System for your Car
Setting up a Surround Sound Audio System for your Car
by TL Kleban
For decades now, car people have always pushed their car stereos to the limit in order to produce the best sound possible. Our grandparents' cars with their bulky and static-filled AM radios gave way to the FM broadcasts and cassette tape playing stereo's of our parents. Now, car manufacturers are going digital with the use of not only CD players but satellite radio with MP3 playing compatibility.
The latest and hottest growing trend in car audio now is the idea of surround sound speaker systems. The thought behind it is to have all the speakers in your car set up exactly like that surround sound audio system you have in your living room. There is a reason why everyone wants one in their car. It simply sounds incredible. Here is how you can go about bringing that movie theater sound experience into your daily ride to work.
* One of the first goals to check off your list is find a stereo head unit which allows you to wire in a surround-sound processor. Since the processor will be digital, your head unit needs to supply a digital signal. You will also need fiber-optic cables. They are used to transmit digital signals between the components. If you previously purchased a nice head unit but it cannot supply digital signals, get a CD changer with fiber-optic connection. Connect the processor to the CD changer but remember that unit you will not get a surround-sound effect, if you play a CD. You can always select a surround-sound processor that converts RCA signals to digital.
* Make sure your car is equipped with a high-end CD changer and/or DVD unit that plays the software that carries the surround-sound signals.
* You should install a five-channel amplifier that can provide power for the front speakers, the rear speakers, and the subwoofers. Each corner of the car plus the subwoofers will be separate channels.
* The center channel should have a 4- to 6-inch midrange speaker and a tweeter. This type of combination should be in its own enclosure and placed in the center portion of the car's dashboard.
* You now need to install an amplifier to run the center-channel speakers. You can get away with a two-channel amplifier played bridged mono but have it contain an electronic crossover which can be outboard, or built in to the amplifiers.
* You are now set to begin installing the speakers which will be in all four corners of the car. Some of the newer cars already have speaker locations work perfectly surround-sound setting. Older cars are a different story and will require a touch of imagination and some work. You'll need to add a tweeter high on the pillar at shoulder height, while a midrange speaker is used in the factory-made opening in the door.
* Now that all of your speakers are in place, set the electronic crossover for the center channel. Don't play it at full range but opt instead for about 80 Hz and up for optimal sound quality.
* Once everything has been installed, adjust the system to find the perfect fit of sound quality and volume for you. Play around with the amplifier gains and then the surround sound processor for any type of tweaks you may need.

Buying A Used Car

Buying A Used Car
by ADZ Media
Buying a used car can result in big savings for those that are prepared to look around to find the best deal. However, finding the best deal doesn't always mean buying the car that's the cheapest. The age of a car, the condition of a car, the cost of buying replacement parts, the time since its last MOT, and many other factors form the elements which will allow you to evaluate whether or not your getting a good deal.
How Many Prior Owners?
It's important that your able to trace a car back to its roots. Without being able to do this you can never be sure what your buying. That's why a professional car dealership will demand that they're able to see paper work which details any prior owners - you should do the same. A car with fewer prior owners should be looked upon favourably as this means there is less chance that those that have owned the car in the past have been dissatisfied.
Mileage
You should always check the mileage on a used car before you part with your cash. A car with fewer miles on the clock has obviously been subjected to less wear and tear than cars that have covered more miles. If you don't the first thing about buying used cars, then the chances are that you will not know what kind of mileage you should be looking for. If that's the case then the best thing to do is ask people who do know, and look online to find guides which will be able to tell you what kind of mileage you should expect for a car with a certain registration plate.
Getting The Price Down
When it comes to buying a used car you are presented with a unique opportunity: to haggle the price down to as low as you can get it! That's why knowing a thing or two about how to haggle can help you to save a lot of money when it comes time to part with your cash. If you are wanting to haggle, simply asking for less than they are offering simply won't cut it - the more product knowledge you have, the more likely you are to be able to get them to listen. For example, if you can point out sources that reference the value of their car, and if you are able to point out imperfections - or less favourable aspects - then you may find that they will come round to your way of thinking. When your trying to get the best deal on a car you should never appear too desperate to buy it. If you do then they won't budge and you'll end up having to pay the price for showing your true colours.
Come Back Later
When your buying a used car you shouldn't jump in there and then. The excitement of being able to get what you want there and then can often mean that people don't as clearly as they should.

As Hybrid technology becomes the new and increasing demand in vehicles, GM plans to provide its consumers with the best quality of battery in its cars. GM has announced their team-up with the world's largest producer of nanophosphate batteries, the A123 Systems Inc. This kind of battery is the one being widely used in rechargeable power devices.
"The industry is on the cusp of radical change ... a transformation," said Bob Lutz, GM's vice-chairman of global product development. GM has announced an agreement with A123Systems, a Watertown, Massachusetts-based supplier of Li-ion batteries.
The nanophosphate chemistry being developed by A123 will bring GM's electric cars from its laboratory to the roads of North America, meeting the complex criteria of vehicles powered by electricity. The deal, said Lutz is their key step to meet the criteria, with A123 pioneering the nanophosphate chemistry.
"Breakthrough battery technology will drive future automotive propulsion, and the company that aligns with the best strategic partners will win," said Lutz, who made the announcement recently in Michigan. "That's what is important about this deal."
Last January, in the Detroit Auto Show, GM launched its E-Flex system, a technology making a vehicle able to adapt to several electrical power sources including fuel cells with common electric-drive systems.
The ultimate icon for this E-Flex system is the Chevrolet Volt, the electric concept car showcased in Shanghai featuring a fuel-cell engine as extender. The Volt had been modified with a diesel engine and body enhancements and was introduced as the Opel Flextreme in the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show.
Li-ion battery technology is viewed by GM (maker of Saab ignition coil) as the key towards plug-in hybrid vehicle commercialization. Li-ion battery has higher power and energy density (capacity per unit size and weight) than the nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries commonly used in hybrid vehicles. The nanophosphate chemistry of A123 is said to produce more power output, longer life and safer operation along the battery life.
The lithium ion batteries supply electric power to cellular phones, lap tops and other power devices. Significant improvements are necessary to scale up the technology to be used in automotive applications.
One major concern of the Li-ion battery is the area of thermal management. Recently, there were numerous reported cases of overheating and explosions in cellular phones with the battery. Recalls had been made to some cellular phones and lap tops as a response to the issue.
With GM's partnership with A123 in developing batteries for its E-Flex system, this problem may be solved with joint efforts to be exerted by the two giants both experts in technology advancements.
"We're confident that one or both of these companies' solutions will meet our battery requirements for the E-Flex system," says Denise Gray, director of GM's energy storage devices and strategies.
"The card we have up our sleeve in terms of advanced technology and propulsion ... has me thinking we have a good hand," Lutz says. "In poker lingo, we are `all in.'"

Saab foresees Weak Sales in the Future
Saab foresees Weak Sales in the Future
by Evander Klum
General Motors' effort to boost Saab sales seem to have failed, despite dedicated work sales have not budged.
Last year Saab was only able to sell 133,000 cars, in stark contrast to Volvo's 600,000 sales. This figure is also dismal compared to what rival automakers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes -- which all produce a million or more car sales per year. Saab chief executive Jan-Ake Jonsson said, "We at Saab have been very inconsistent in our approach."
The company's goal has been set at 250,000 cars sold annually. Perhaps the auto maker's efforts in creating car models that are distinct compared to their much larger rivals. According to Jonsson, the carmaker will no longer be eager to become "better BMW than BMW".
Jonsson said, "During the last couple of years, we've been really trying to focus the brand." Apparently the company has come to terms with the fact that their sales may not see a growth anytime soon. What the automaker wants now is for the brand to continue making money, despite the low sales.
"We've created a structure where we can get returns at 150, 000," Jonsson was quoted saying in a recent BBC news article, "If we can get 175,000 units, I'll be very happy."
At present, the factory and parts-sharing with GM is helping in keeping Saab afloat. This strategy will not help much if Saab wants to create a distinct image of its own. Enter the new Saab Turbo X.
Turbo X is well equipped with 2.8 L 280 bhp engine, including top of the line parts like the Saab master cylinder. This time, the Saab model comes with four-wheel-drive. Jonsson said, "This is a newly developed all-wheel-drive system... It gives you the option of having more performance. We will se it also in future vehicles" this, he adds, is "a bit of a qualifier in the premium segment, even if it is an option with a penetration of just 10-15%". The newest Saab creation he says, intends to make a statement about Saab's heritage and to communicate the importance of the turbo for Saab.
Saab is famed in the world for its support of biofuels. Saab's biopower models have been observed and reported to be more powerful when they run on E85 - a mixture of 85% ethanol made from plants and 15% petrol - than when they run on conventional petrol. According to Jonsson, "The turbo can utilize the higher octane rate of E85 in a better way, so it adds 25-30 bhp." With this concept, Saab was able to offer cars that deliver 150 bhp, basically from a small one liter engine. "It really shows the potential to downsize the engine," Jonsson said.
By fact, bioethanol contributes in reducing emissions, making a lot of difference from fossil fuels. But the displacement of petrol and diesel is set required in plants to produce a large volume of ethanol. As consequence in the production of ethanol, corn prices hiked in the US. This has been another issue greatly affecting the priority of ethanol supply rather than for food, since the world is at large contained with starving people, according to critics.
However, Jonsson said, "Bioethanol to me is not an issue of starvation versus cars."
"If you look at the availability of bioethanol today, that is not an issue. There is enough land and crop available today to supply current demand," he explained.
"We're at the first generation of using ethanol," he added. "You can say using corn to produce ethanol in the US is very inefficient".
That is when the second-generation biofuels come on its way, with making from celluloid (wood or waste from crops). All being said, Jonsson believes that bioethanol will be one piece of the solution for Saab.

How To Buy A Used Ford Car
How To Buy A Used Ford Car
by Jonathan Eglin
When it comes to buying used Ford cars, there are many options for buyers to choose between. Not least because of the large inventory of used ford cars that are in the market, but also because of the diversity that exists within the Ford range of auto mobiles. Whether you want a performance sports can or a family MPV you can be sure that there's a Ford in the market to meet your needs.
Many buyers are now choosing to buy used cars, rather than new ones, for a variety of reasons. On one level the cost savings that can be reaped can act as a large incentive. For example, a new car may lose 20% of its value as soon as it leaves the garage - that 20% loss which the new car buyer has to incur is a saving which can end up in the pocket of someone who decides to buy their car second hand. If your looking to save money when buying a Ford can, then there can be no better saving that you can make than opting to pick up a second hand model. If your looking to buy a used ford car, here our tips to ensure that everything goes according to plan...
Accredited Dealership
If your looking to buy a used Ford car, then there can be no better place to pick one up than in a Ford dealership. You'll be able to speak with someone who's an expert when it comes to Fords and you'll be able to see a great selection that would far outweigh the kind of variety of Ford cars you would be able to see in a general garage. However, those benefits come second to the security that you'll have knowing the car has underwent rigorous scrutiny to ensure that it's road worthy - meaning that your safety won't be compromised to beef up profit margins at the dealership.
Set A Budget
Before you'll be able to buy a used car you'll have to set a budget to work within. Unless you set a budget you may find yourself spending more than your finances allow! When setting a budget you have to consider other costs out with the ones directly associated with buying the car. Getting the car insured, putting petrol in it, and getting it repaired when things go wrong are just 3 costs that ensure you don't forget about. If you have enough money coming in on a regular basis, but you don't have the cash up front to buy a used Ford, then you could consider finance options. When you visit your local Ford dealership they'll be able to point you in the right direction where this is concerned.
Take It For A Test Drive
Before you buy a used Ford you should always take it for a test drive. When you are sitting behind the wheel you'll be able to tell if the cars a good fit for your driving style, whether or not it's what you expected and if you can imagine yourself driving the car your in for the foreseeable future.

Dependable Pontiac Spoiler for Improved Car Stability and Fuel Economy

Dependable Pontiac Spoiler for Improved Car Stability and Fuel Economy
by Anthony Fontanelle
A Pontiac Spoiler is an aerodynamic device mounted on a vehicle to undo or "spoil" unfavorable air movement across a body of a vehicle in motion. This results to an improved stability by decreasing drag which can cause unstable and unpredictable handling in a car at speed. Although they have become common to all types of vehicles, the spoiler actually started to be outfitted to race and performance sports cars. There are also spoiler that are added purely as decorative accessories with little or no aerodynamic capacities and unfortunately, sometimes they can even make aerodynamics worse.
The Pontiac Spoilers work by disturbing the airflow going over a vehicle in motion to reduce the amount of drag generated by the shape of the vehicle. Drag is the force that resists the movement of a solid abject through a fluid, whether it is liquid or gas. The spoilers disrupt the drag by increasing the turbulence flowing over the shape resulting to an increase in the contact between the tire and the road surface. This causes an increase in traction which allows a moving car to brake, turn, and accelerate with more stability. Spoilers are generally ineffective or superficial in slow moving vehicles because a car has to be speeding over 100mph to take benefit of the aerodynamics of the spoiler. At high speeds, air that's flowing across the roof of your vehicle tumbles over the edge, the steep downward angle from the edge of the roof to the trunk, and causes air flow separation. The flow of air becomes turbulent with a low-pressure zone created which increases drag and instability. Adding a Pontiac Spoiler makes the air flow a longer, gentler slope from the roof to the spoiler which then helps to delay the air flow separation. This, of course, decreases drag, increases fuel economy, and helps keep the rear window clear. Nowadays, these spoilers are used an add-on to your vehicle to make it look sportier and cooler. One has also to consider the effect of the weight the spoiler will have on the handling of the car. Different Pontiac Spoiler has different weights and adding any amount of weight to the rear of the car may affect your driving. Spoilers are more often light and sturdy because most spoilers are made from a durable material called polyurethane. But, there are some spoilers that are made from light weight steel or fiber glass. And there are some that make use of the combination of the two or three of different materials.
The rear spoilers mounted on the rear trunk lid act to minimize the turbulence at the rear of the vehicle. But aside from the rear spoiler there are also front spoilers. The front Pontiac Spoiler, also known as air dams, is mounted below the bumper are mainly used to direct air flow away from the tires. In some vehicles, like mini-vans, the spoiler are mounted upside down and angled and used to deflect the rain off the rear window. For pick-up, there are other kinds of spoilers like the tailgate spoilers, cab spoilers and tonneau spoilers. The SUVs, minivans uses it as rear window spoilers.

Jay Leno receives the Keys to drive BMW Hydrogen 7

Jay Leno receives the Keys to drive BMW Hydrogen 7
by Evander Klum
BMW has Jay Leno as the latest person to receive the keys to a BMW Hydrogen 7 - the first hydrogen-powered luxury sedan in the world.
Jay Leno, an Emmy-winning comedian and host of The Tonight Show received his BMW Hydrogen 7 at his own garage in Burbank, California, according to a source.
Leno said, "As an avid car enthusiast I'm always interested in the future of automotive technology. With the BMW Hydrogen 7 I can experience all the fun and great features of a performance car, yet know that I'm being environmentally friendly at the same time! I look forward to driving the Hydrogen 7 and learning more about hydrogen as a fuel for our future," acknowledging the benefits provided by the luxury sedan.
Leno's garage is actually a "green garage" that is supplied with energy from steam power. Giant steam and natural gas engines from the 19th century are used. Both offer efficient reduction on energy needs. That makes the garage a self-sufficient power station. Leno imposed that a garage stuffed with old cars has no reason not to be environmentally responsible, "even if it means having to go back more than a century for the technology".
Adding the BMW Hydrogen 7 to his collection of cars has been part of Leno's dedication in improving his garage which is now almost 20,000 sq. ft. in measurement. He loaded it with the latest environmentally friendly shop equipments and products, which might have been included premium auto parts such as BMW 330 parts. His collaboration with expert consultants brought him to make use of alternative energy systems in the garage. They all came up with the analysis that such source would give way for energy efficiency.
The best thing about the BMW Hydrogen 7 is that it is an absolute environmentally friendly machine, producing only water vapor as discharge. Such is a great step in promoting CO2 emission reduction, essentially demanded by a world market that is becoming more and more aware of its impact to the environment.
The Hydrogen 7 is now held as a production model vehicle after successfully completing the Product Development Process, which perfected the concept behind the technology.
Hydrogen 7 Pioneers Program compelled BMW to give out Hydrogen 7 in several prominent leaders and figures in the business, entertainment and political industry. This has been along BMW's belief that the hydrogen will be replacing petroleum as "long-term alternative to fossil fuel". Hopes have been placed that the model car will be a pioneer in upbringing hydrogen technologies for future mobilization.
A source enlisted several more prominent individuals that have been chosen to be part of the hydrogen pioneering. Included were Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the "Ocean's 13" premiere in Hollywood; Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Liguori at the FOX All-Star Party in Santa Monica; Richard Gere and Sharon Stone at the Cinema for Peace Gala in Berlin; and "An Inconvenient Truth" producer Davis Guggenheim (Oscar(R) for the best Documentary Feature) and Best Foreign Language Film Oscar(R) winner, director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck at the 2007 Academy Awards; among others. The vehicle has also made an impact oversees, with luminaries such as Michael Glos, German Federal Minister for Economy and Technology, and Gunter Verheugen, Vice President of the European Commission, world renowned soprano Anna Netrebko and a lot more others.

BMW Hydrogen 7 a Perfect Match to Jay Leno's Eco-Garage

BMW Hydrogen 7 a Perfect Match to Jay Leno's Eco-Garage
by Evander Klum
Jay Leno, the Emmy-award winning comedian and host of The Tonight Show is one of the first Americans to receive keys to a BMW Hydrogen 7 which is the world's first ever hydrogen-powered luxury sedan. The Hydrogen luxury sedan was delivered to Mr. Leno at his famed car garage in Burbank, California deemed as a green garage since it is powered by steam.
The green garage of Mr. Leno makes use of a 19th century giant steam and natural gas engines that somewhat converts the garage into a self-sufficient power station. Mr. Leno explained there is simply no excuse why a garage that is full of old cars can't be eco-worthy.
To create his eco-friendly garage Mr. Leno has worked with expert consultants in various fields to analyze his garage's energy use and at the same time devise some alternative energy systems. This is part of Mr. Leno's plans of upgrading his 20,000 sq.ft.-garage with the latest environmentally friendly shop equipment and products. Driving a BMW Hydrogen 7 is just jives with his "green" objectives.
Mr. Leno said, "As an avid car enthusiast I'm always interested in the future of automotive technology. With the BMW Hydrogen 7 I can experience all the fun and great features of a performance car, yet know that I'm being environmentally friendly at the same time! I look forward to driving the Hydrogen 7 and learning more about hydrogen as a fuel for our future."
The BMW Hydrogen 7 when operating in hydrogen mode emits nothing but water vapor, which represents a major step in reducing harmful CO2 emissions. And the best thing about the Hydrogen 7 is the fact that it's a production model vehicle and not just a mere concept car which means that it can be mass produce.
But at present it is not yet for sale however it is already considered as a breakthrough in introducing hydrogen as a sustainable fuel for individual transportation.
The German automaker and producer of high quality BMW 330ci parts also believes that hydrogen has the potential to replace petroleum as the long-term alternative to fossil fuel. It also hopes that its Hydrogen 7 will be able to pave the way for the implementation of hydrogen technologies for future mobility. And to further support its goals, BMW has launched its Hydrogen 7 Pioneers Program in which the company will give industry leaders and prominent figures in politics, entertainment, business and others a new BMW Hydrogen which will served as their daily mode of transport.
Through this program, BMW is hoping to make people understand the importance of the hydrogen technology and for them to see that it is available now, offered by the BMW Group.

How satellite radio BMW integration has revolutionized radio reception

How satellite radio BMW integration has revolutionized radio reception.
by Wayne Hemrick
Sirius BMW radio, BMW Sirius, satellite radio BMW
A BMW is the commuter car of choice for many discerning drivers. Whether you drive into the city from the suburbs for your day on the job, or you travel across the country in your car, a BMW makes the trip much more pleasurable. Its smooth ride and sleek good looks are why drivers keep coming back to this popular automotive company. If you are someone who uses his or her BMW for long auto journeys, you might want to consider investing in satellite radio BMW audio upgrades. BMW car owners choose BMW Sirius satellite radio as an option in order to enjoy the shows they most like to hear on the radio. Satellite radio, featuring Sirius BMW radio, is an interesting new technology that has revolutionized radio reception.
Anyone who has done long distance travel in their cars knows what a drag it is to just be enjoying some music or talk on the radio, only to find yourself driving out of the station's range and losing the signal entirely. Satellite radio changes all that. The radio signal, instead of being sent from a nearby translator, travels to a satellite in outer space, and returns to earth. You might think that the sound quality would be horrible because of the distance being covered, but the opposite is true: digital quality music comes pouring out of your car's radio.
One of the satellite broadcasters is Sirius satellite radio. BMW Sirius makes any road trip more fun. Instead of just a handful of stations that your radio's receiver can pick up as your traverse the country, you will have access to hundreds of stations by using satellite radio.
Sirius offers great reception because it has three satellites in place. Allowing for the rotation of the planet Earth, the particular placement of the satellites are such in order to provide continual coverage for its users in the United States. Signals are sent to the satellite, which then sends it back to Earth and your waiting radio receiver.
The antenna that is used to pick up Sirius satellite radio consists of an antenna and a receiver. The antenna picks up the signals from the satellite, cleans up the signals and then sends them on to the receiver. The receiver then converts the signals into a radio frequency that you can hear.
Subscribers to Sirius satellite radio can enjoy all of the music programming that they enjoy, along with all of their favorite talk radio shows that make the time fly by on a long cross-country trip. No matter where you are in the United States, you will never be out of touch with your best-loved audio entertainment. The quality of the sound is what keeps happy BMW drivers coming back to satellite radio.

Honda Racing F1 Team Disappointing Results at the Belgian Grand Prix

Honda Racing F1 Team Disappointing Results at the Belgian Grand Prix
by Evander Klum
Honda's very own Racing F1 Team had a rather disheartening afternoon at the recent Belgian Grand Prix. Rubens Barrichello was able to finish at rank 13th position while Jenson Button was forced to retire at lap 37 of the race.
The demanding seven-kilometer Spa-Francorchamps circuit has proved to be tough course for the RA107 and because of this the team has decided to adopt a one stop strategy to maximize their chance of obtaining a reasonable result.
At the start of the race both of Honda's Racing F1 Team drivers got away well. Jenson was 12th on the grid and was able to manage to maintain his position through the dangerously tight La Source hairpin on the opening lap. Rubens was also having the same luck only that he was at the 17th place.
The drivers fearlessly battled their way up the order at the opening segment of the race taking advantage of the time when rival cars pit early for their two stop strategies. Among the Honda Racing Team's drivers it was only Jenson who pit at the lap 24 obtaining an 11th position for him. He rejoined the race in the 15th place.
Rubens has stayed two laps longer than his other teammates pitting from 12th place at the end of lap 26. He rejoined the race in the 17th position and then drives the remaining of the race competing with Liuzzi.
Then on lap 37 it happened, Jenson slowed two-thirds of the way around the lap lucky for him he made it back to the pits but to his dismay his car has a hydraulic failure which means he has to leave the race. There were no other reported failures on the car's other components such as its Honda thermostat, etc. Fortunately for the Honda Team, Rubens was able to cross the line in 13th position. But still the overall result was quite disappointing for the team.
This week the team will head to Jerez where they will test some aerodynamic updates on the RA107 in preparation for the Japanese Grand Prix scheduled in September 20, 2007.
Here are the comments of the disappointed drivers of Honda Racing F1 Team, Rubens and Jenson on the recent Belgian Grand Prix:
RUBENS BARRICHELLO "This has been a pretty frustrating weekend for us because we have been struggling with the car from start to finish. Today, carrying that amount of fuel for a one-stop strategy, the rears were locking badly and I was fighting the car the whole race. Now we have to look forward to Tuesday, the start of our test in Jerez, where we will test the car in a different configuration - hopefully a better one so we can make some progress in the remaining three races."
JENSON BUTTON "It's always disappointing to retire from a race but it was six laps less pain as the car was so difficult to drive. We expected a tough race this weekend, having tested the revised circuit back in July, so it was no surprise that the car has not been working well here. It was a tough race and the car was changing from huge oversteer to understeer throughout the lap. Then the clutch started slipping, the power steering failed and it was clear we had experienced a hydraulic failure. Disappointing, but we head to Jerez next week with new developments for our home race in Japan and let's hope for better things in Fuji."

Pontiac Radiator to Effectively Cool your Engine

Pontiac Radiator to Effectively Cool your Engine
by Anthony Fontanelle
Your vehicle's cooling system functions mainly to keep the engine from overheating by transferring some of this heat to the air. On the other hand, because your vehicle runs best at fairly high temperature, it is also the job of the cooling system to allow the engine to heat up as fast as possible and to keep the engine at a constant temperature. Fuel is consistently burning in your vehicle's engine causing so much heat which goes right out of the exhaust system. Some that does not exit the exhaust system soaks the engine causing it to heat up. There are two kinds of cooling system- the liquid cooling and the air-cooling.
The liquid cooling is more commonly used by modern cars. The process circulates fluid through pipes and passageways in the engine. The liquid passes the engine and absorbs the heat and cool the engine. This liquid is a mixture of water with ethylene glycol (also known as antifreeze) and a little corrosion inhibitor. It then passes the radiator which transfers the heat from the fluid to the air. The radiator is a type of heat exchanger which is designed to transfer heat from the hot coolant that flows through it to the air blown through it by the fan. The Pontiac Radiator is usually made by brazing thin aluminum fins to flattened aluminum tubes. The coolant passes these many tubes which are mounted in parallel arrangement. From the inlet to the outlet the coolant flows through the many tubes. The flow of the water is not smooth but rather turbulent so that all of the fluid will mix together and have the ability to actually touch the tube and be cooled directly and more heat is extracted. From the engine, the water will pass the Pontiac Radiator, which will transfer or disperse the heat from the water to the air blowing within it and cooling the water. Simultaneously, the heater core works which helps to cool the engine by transferring the heat towards the interior of the car. The front of the radiator is also cooled by the outside air coming through the car's grill. The water that comes out of the Pontiac Radiator is cooler and is ready to start the process again and this cycle continues as long as the car engine is running.
On the both sides of the radiator are tanks that have a transmission cooler. There is an inlet and outlet where the oil from the transmission enters the cooler. Unlike the radiator which exchanges heat with the air, the oil in the transmission cooler exchanges heat with the coolant. A Pontiac Radiator does not contain any electronic part although sensors do register the temperature when it exits the radiator. So it is essential to regularly check your radiator and always make sure it is always filled with water. You may add coolant or anti-freeze depending on the weather situation. Make sure that it is not leaking or it has a broken hose because it can further damage other parts like your engine and the operating temperature of the car can immediately reach a dangerous level in minutes.

Want To Know An Easy Way To Buy Used Cars?
by Terry Bolton
Once you decide to buy a used car, a little research is all it takes to make sure you get your money's worth. Many people think that dealerships are the only place to buy used cars. Not true! Where to buy used cars is information that is easy to find. In today's market, many vendors choose to sell vehicles privately using used car guides, personal ads and even online. But how can someone looking to buy used cars protect themselves? In this article, we'll weigh the pros and cons of buying a used car from a dealership versus a private sale, reveal the fine print that can cost you a bundle and steer you in the direction of buying the right used car for you.
The Internet has opened up a whole new world to people wanting to buy used cars. You can now comparison shop online without have to fend off the high pressure tactics of salespeople. You can find out what is on the market in your region in terms of availability and price. Auto Traders com is a good site to check. The information you find online will be more current than what's available in automotive magazines. Private vendors may choose to use online buy and sell markets to sell their vehicles, so you may be able to find a gem of a deal. However, NEVER buy a used car without seeing it first. Use the web to do your shopping but close the deal in person.
Automotive magazines are a great tool to use when you want to buy a used car. Automotive magazines can be both entertaining and informative. They have the latest news on vehicles, reviews, and useful consumer and maintenance advice. Some magazines focus mainly on new vehicles, so make sure that you purchase a publication that will provide the information you need to buy used cars.
Once you've determined a budget to buy a used car, the shopping begins. Dealerships are a good place to start if you're looking for a newer model car. Take a notebook with you and jot down information about vehicles that catch your attention. Make sure to note the make and model of the car, mileage, financing details and any advice the salesperson may offer. Don't let emotion or impulse factor into your decision. You may pay more when you buy used cars from a dealership, but they may provide you with all the service records for the car. Independent dealers are a good place to buy used cars, but the buyer should beware. They offer used cars at cheaper prices but in many cases it will have been less maintained. Never buy a car from a curbside dealer. They're reputations are very bad and it's best not to take a chance.
Purchasing a used car can throw you into a tailspin if you don't know where to start looking. The market is full of possibilities but a used car that seems like a good deal could end up costing you a fortune if there are hidden mechanical problems. Consider your options carefully and don't be afraid to recruit the help of someone who may be more knowledgeable about buying a used vehicle for sale. No matter who you decide to buy used cars from, remember that you do have the right to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic that you trust. You shouldn't give a deposit for a vehicle without an inspection. So, hit the dealerships, flip through automotive magazines and take a trip down the information highway by clicking onto the net. Just remember that the key to buying a great used car is filling up with information.

Tips for Buying Cars in Auto Auctions
![]()
Tips for Buying Cars in Auto Auctions
by Frank Vanderlugt
Auto auctions can be great place to buy and sell cars. By buying at an auto auction, you can get a car for cheaper than you can get at the local used car dealer's yard.
However, there are a few things to be aware of when buying at an auto auction. Used cars are still used cars, and you should use your common sense. Before you even go down to the auto auction site, you should do your research as to the type of car you want. Research the different marques and models on the market and make a short-list of the type you want. If the sort of car you're after isn't up for auction, then wait. There'll be another auto auction another day that will have what you're after.
If you've seen that a car that you want is going to be up for sale in an auto auction, then be careful to check it out thoroughly. Most auto auctions will give potential bidders a chance to look over the vehicles and kick the tyres.
But if you're buying a car in an auto auction, you'll need to do more than just kick tyres. Start the engine and check for black smoke pouring out the exhaust. Check everywhere for rust and signs of old dings. Check the engine and the lights. And, if possible, take it for a test drive. If it's not running and looking exactly how it should, then don't buy it. Remember, there'll be another auto auction another day where you will find something suitable.
Once you've found the right car and made sure that it's in good mechanical order, then its auto auction for real. This is where the unique side of an auto auction comes into play. This is where you have the chance to get a good used car for a bargain price.
All cars for sale in an auto auction will have a reserve price on them. This is the bare minimum that the car will sell for - after all, the original owner of the car wants to get a fair price for their used vehicle. Bidding on an auto auction will usually start below this reserve price to warm things up a bit. In a good auto auction company, the auctioneer will let bidders know when this reserve price has been met.
If you are going to a live auto auction, then you don't need to worry that if you sneeze, you'll end up buying a Ferrari you didn't really want. Auctioneers at auto auctions are not stupid and know how to recognise a genuine bid. Often, bidders at an auto auction will be issued with numbered paddles which they can raise to place a bid.
Bidding in auto auctions can also be done online. If you want to bid in an online auto auction, make very sure that you check the car out first (obviously, it will have to be in your local area for you to do that).
But whether online or live, make sure that you set yourself a budget and stick to it. An auto auction can be very exciting and can call out the competitive nature in many people. This is "auction fever" and sees people bidding ridiculously highly to beat out the competition. Don't be a mug! Sure, it may feel good to win the auto auction, but at the end of it all, you'll have to pay for the car you bid on.
However, if you resist the temptation to succumb to auction fever, then an auto auction can be a way to pick up a good car at a reasonable price. Used car dealers often go to auto auctions to find the cars for their yards, so if you bid against them and win, you've probably saved yourself their commission/mark-up on the vehicle.

Subaru Of Indiana Celebrates Milestone

Subaru Of Indiana Celebrates Milestone
Japanese automaker Subaru's manufacturing arm in Indiana recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary. The Subaru of Indian Automotive Inc. is celebrating September 10 as their anniversary and this year is the twentieth. Executives from Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., are in attendance in the celebration of the anniversary of the Indiana plant. Along with FHI top executives, government officials and community leaders are also present.
The SIA was incorporated as a business in the State of Indiana in 1987 as a joint venture between FHI and Isuzu Motors. Today, the plant is wholly-owned by FHI. Last year, the plant produced more than 111,000 units of Subaru vehicles. The Subaru Tribeca, the Outback, and the Legacy are what the assembly facility produces. Aside from these three Subaru vehicles, the SIA will also be producing the Toyota Camry LE under the partnership between FHI and ToMoCo.
The facility will be producing about 140,000 units of vehicles this year according to the automaker. And while American automakers continue to close down plants, the SIA continues to expand and offer more jobs. This year alone, a thousand additional jobs were offered bringing the number of workers that the facility employs to more than 3,300. This is only what the company employs in this particular facility and excludes the number of workers that Subaru hires in other facilities to manufacture auto parts such as the Subaru clutch, shock absorbers, transmission, and other components.
Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman has this to say about the SIA during the ceremony: "We have appreciated SIA’s investment in our state from the beginning. For twenty years now, the company has been a key player in Indiana’s economy. Governor Daniels and I are so thankful SIA calls Indiana home."
One of the top executives of the automaker in attendance is FHI President Ikuo Mori. In his address, he said that the success of the Indiana plant is the result of the input of the different sectors in the community. "I know that it was the hard work and dedication of many SIA and FHI Associates, and the great vision and leadership of government and community leaders, that helped SIA to establish a firm base from which it could grow," he said.
Mr. Mori continued saying that the SIA has adapted to Subaru's way and enumerated some of the facility's achievements. "Subaru has always been known for its innovation and ability to accomplish tasks that were thought to be impossible for one of the smaller companies in the automotive industry. Over the years, SIA Associates have displayed these traits with such achievements as being the industry leader in environmental stewardship, having the safest workplace in the auto industry, being the first auto assembly plant to achieve ISO 9001 and 14001 certification, and earning several awards for TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities," he stated.
More than one half of all the vehicles that Subaru has sold in the United States auto market have been manufactured at the SIA. Aside from being sold in the country's market, the vehicles manufactured in Indiana are also shipped to more than twenty countries around the world.

Porsche Injects 911 Power Into The Cayenne

Porsche Injects 911 Power Into The Cayenne
Porsche AG, the maker of remarkable supercars, has decided to inject more 911 power into the Cayenne in the form of a new variant called the GTS. The new variant will be unveiled next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The performance-oriented Cayenne is based on the S variant but is lowered by nearly an inch. The Cayenne GTS features the advanced Porsche Active Suspension Management system in combination with steel springs. The system features a suspension setup that was previously reserved for Porsche's cars only. To enhance the handling, the German automaker is also offering the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control active anti-roll system and optional air suspension.
The S' direct injected 4.8-liter V-8 gets a timely boost to the tune of an additional 20hp, bringing its output to 405. Torque, however, remains unaltered at 369 lb-ft. The GTS comes standard with a six-speed manual, with a Tiptronic automatic optional. Aside from the engine and other systems, the new variant also flaunts enhanced auto parts that are far from the aged Porsche 924 radiator.
The Cayenne GTS is fitted with the Turbo's front and rear fascias and rides on 21-inch wheels. It comes in two distinct colors: Nordic Gold Metallic and GTS Red. The colors are in addition to the existing colors available throughout the Cayenne Range. Inside are new 12-way adjustable sports seats upholstered in a mix of leather and Alcantara.
The Cayenne, a mid-size luxury sport utility, has been built since 2002. The SUV is the first V8 engined vehicle built by the German automaker since 1995, when the 928 was discontinued. According to the automaker, the sportiest of Porsche sport utilities, comes as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox and a shorter axle drive ratio than the Cayenne S. The GTS can thus accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 6.1 seconds - precisely 0.5 seconds quicker than the Cayenne S.
The new Cayenne GTS, positioned above the S, but below the Turbo, is instantly identifiable: the front and rear look similar as the Turbo, and the 14mm wheel-arch enlargements offer plenty of space for the standard 21-inch alloy rims.
The new Cayenne, with Tiptronic S transmission, has an average consumption of 13.9 liters/100 km in accordance with EU standards, the automaker added. The Cayenne GTS will go on sale in February. In Germany, it will cost 76,725 Euros including 19 percent VAT and country-specific requirements. The base price is 64,300 Euros. The base price for the USA is $69,300 - $11,400 more than the S variant.
With a sticker price like that, the automaker is still all the wage. Porsche is anticipated to remain as the much-adored car of higher earners. The Glasgow Daily Record reported that the 2007 "Rich Car List" shows Porsche keeping the top spot from last year, followed by, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Saab, Audi, Jeep, BMW, Smart and Alfa Romeo.
Craig Staniland of swiftcover.com explained: "The car is a status symbol but smaller and greener cars are becoming popular with higher income earners."

An Alternative Fuel Vehicle story
An Alternative Fuel Vehicle story
by David Odell
It seems apparent that the world is heading towards an energy crisis. The meter is heading towards "E" on petroleum and we need an alternative fuel vehicle. Cars can't run on good wishes alone and we need an alternative fuel source that is both economical as well as earth-friendly. One of the options for efficient energy seems to be the hybrid electric vehicle. Hybrid electric vehicles are a top contender to be the alternative fuel vehicle, replacing the gasoline powered vehicles of today. They are efficient, reliable and becoming most cost effective every day. No wonder they're quickly becoming popular. Besides the "green" factor, the designs of these types of vehicles are also pleasing to the eye - unlike the early clunky looking models.
Popularly known as the hybrid, this alternative fuel vehicle runs on battery electric power and good old fashioned gasoline. It gets much higher mileage per gallon than traditional vehicles and dispels less carbon dioxide to boot. Not only that, this alternative fuel vehicle is being adopted by and large in the marketplace. Most major automotive manufacturers produce at least one hybrid and you can buy them at any new car dealership. Many manufacturers of vehicles are adding hybrids to their line up of available models.
Another benefit to this kind of alternative fuel vehicle is that it will last longer because there's less wear and tear. Alternative energy research has given us a vehicle with a combustion engine that stops running when you enter a traffic jam or slow down considerably and the battery electric engine takes over. This means you won't wear your combustion engine out by taking off or slowing to idle. Instead, you can rely on the dependable and less complex battery engine that gives you better acceleration and torque to begin with. You also get the benefit of recapturing waste energy via the regenerative braking system, which helps minimize pollution.
Like any new technology, hybrids run with a higher price tag than traditional gasoline powered vehicles. At the present time, the lofty price tag of an alternative fuel vehicle would put a hurtin' on any blue collar worker's pocketbook. But for some, the benefits might just outweigh the costs. For instance, the "hybrid premium" is often offset by the payback period wherein the cost is balanced out by a savings on gas over time. Not to mention that most other types of alternative fuel cars depreciate much faster than a conventional car but that isn't the case at all with the hybrid. In fact, studies have shown that hybrid vehicles will actually depreciate at a slower rate than conventional vehicles, making this alternative fuel vehicle a better choice for consumers that want to live a "greener" lifestyle.
A final positive is that the hybrids can also run on other forms of alternative fuel. Vehicle manufacturers can add a flexible fuel engine, or you can just use bio-diesel, ethanol or biogas. This gives hybrids a flexibility that most others in the alternative fuel vehicle category don't have.
After much deliberation and consideration it would appear that the hybrid is the best choice when buying an alternative fuel vehicle. You have the benefit of higher gas mileage and better engine performance. As well as the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions which will help stave off global warming. These benefits make the hybrid a very popular and tangible alternative fuel vehicle, unlike some of the other vehicles in the category.

Car Buyers 'Should Take Time' When Purchasing

Car Buyers 'Should Take Time' When Purchasing
by Mark Dawson
Those considering buying one of the new 57 registration cars are being advised to consider their purchase with care.
According to Sue Robinson, director of the RMI National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) - part of the Retail Motor Industry Federation - the launch of the licence plates this month means that now is an ideal time for Britons to visit a showroom. She said: "This is an excellent time to buy a new car."
However, motorists have been advised to exercise any forays into the car buying market with caution as otherwise they could well end up finding themselves with a vehicle which is unsuitable for their needs. Also if they are not careful, consumers could end up paying for the car through an uncompetitive finance option, which could affect their ability to service other demands on their day-to-day spending such as mortgages, utility bills and loans.
As a result Ms Robinson claimed that prospective buyers should spend time considering what sort of car they want and how their life circumstances - for instance whether or not have children or plan on often making long journeys - can affect what sort of vehicle they purchase. She added that is "extremely important" consumers go to a reputable dealer. In addition, she also motorists to decide how they are going to pay for a car whether through a showroom finance deal, a personal contract purchase or taking out a competitively-priced loan before visiting a car showroom.
She also claimed that consumers should take their time when looking for a vehicle due to the high level of expense involved in making such a purchase. "When exploring the market for your new car, remember the financial outlay is high, so make sure you ask for a test drive - many people don't. If you're not a car expert, take a knowledgeable friend along with you. Some manufacturers now let you test drive a car over 48 hours, or sometimes even longer," the NFDA director asserted.
Upon receiving their car, motorists were advised to make sure it is in perfect working condition and that all tax and insurance documentation are in order. In addition, checking the terms of warranty agreements - to make themselves aware of any restrictions - was also recommended as otherwise drivers could find themselves under heavy financial pressure should they later discover that something is wrong with their vehicle and forced to meet expenses for repairs themselves.
Earlier this year, Lloyd East, director of personal loans for the AA, advised those considering buying a car to take the time to consider financing of such a purchase. He claimed that by opting for forecourt finance deals ahead of a low-rate loan, due to sheer convenience, Britons could be losing out on millions of pounds every year. Research from the financial services firm also showed a rise in the number of Britons looking for a motor vehicle which is "cheap to run, insure and maintain", with a competitively-priced loan a possible option for those looking to keep the costs of having a car down.

Ford: Americas Innovative Hybrid Car
by Floyd Dorrance
he Ford Hybrid Car and their Distinct Innovative Advantages
If you have even a passing interest in the topic of "hybrid car", then you should take a look at the following information. This enlightening article presents some of the latest news on the subject of "hybrid car".
Ford has always been a brand name that signifies excellence, innovation, dedication and is really an All-American brand name. One of the biggest players in the motor industry, Ford has never failed to provide the American population and the world, cutting edge vehicles that caters to every needs.
With the growing environmental concerns not just in USA, Ford has joined the Hybrid bandwagon and came up with their own Hybrid card. It is popularly known that Americans love the room and power that SUV's provide, and with the hybrid sedan crowding with Japanese manufactured hybrid cars, Ford decided to infuse their hybrid technology with a vehicle they know many Americans would embrace, a Hybrid SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) in the form of the Ford Escape Hybrid.
The Ford Escape Hybrid was first introduced in 2004 and is a gas electric powered compact SUV. Consumer demand became strong for the Ford Escape Hybrid prompting Ford to produce more of the gas saving SUV.
To avoid any legal issues, Ford went into an agreement with Toyota to use some of the patented hybrid technology previously used in the very successful Toyota Prius. By 2006, The Hybrid system utilized by Ford is acknowledged as one of the more advanced in technology being offered. The Ford Escape Hybrid is now available as a full hybrid motor vehicle. It makes use of different power combinations that adjusts to the driving style to conserve more power and achieve maximum potential and efficiency in performance.

GM India and Ford India and their small big problems

GM India and Ford India and their small big problems
by Deepesh Rathore
If ever I was to leave my profession of an automobile industry analyst with SupplierBusiness, I would surely love to work with some of the multinantional auto manufacturers in India. Not for the work but surely for the money and the perks. Look at it, Ford India and GM India are perhaps the highest paying automotive companies in India when it comes to middle management. And both of them are also the most loss making of all Indian manufacturers. Is there a correlation here or just plain coincidence?
Well look at this, a CEO of GM was commended for the successful lauch of 'Brand Chevrolet' in India. What did they expect? That someone can actually screw up on that? And what does one mean by successful when your monthly sales is in the mid four digits. The last head of Ford India also received plaudits for a job well done!
And Ford and GM retain their middle level and senior level managers better than superglue. Most of them are there for years and years, a commendable quotient of loyality. In an already exciting job market churned recently by Reliance Retail's unquenchable thirst of performing talent, that is quite commendable indeed.
So how many does Ford and GM each sell? Their annual sales are still below the 100,000 mark in a market that crossed a million one year back. And they have been in the market for more than a decade now, most of which was spent in smelling the exhausts of Honda and Toyota, not to mention being trampled all over by Hyundai and Maruti-Suzuki. And there doesn't seem to be any light yet at the end of the tunnel or to put it in a better way and borrowing an old adage, the light at the end of the tunnel for Ford and GM is a tractor-trailer loaded with Toyotas, Hyundais and Hondas. Coming back to GM India and Ford India, the two entities seem to have made a habit of making losses. Ford India has seen nearly its cmplete equity being wiped out by losses. GM India doesn't seem to be doing anything great in a hurry either. Both their parents should be worried but then the Indian operations' losses are probably just a trickle from a nick, nothing major when you have an entire leg and an arm chopped off.

The Chevrolet Corvette : A True American Classic Sportscar

The Chevrolet Corvette : A True American Classic Sportscar
by Harold Z. Stofman
The Chevrolet Corvette, a Sportscar legend and a Auto Classic for ever, has somehow survived inflated insurance rates; all types of inane and meaningless safety legislation and engine pollution add ons. The Chevrolet Corvette has been universally accepted as the measure of a high performance sports car. Cars come and go, new model of cars emerge and disappear and yet the Corvette lives on. No car has been able to cover as many aspects of the high performance sport as the Corvette. The versatility of this fantastic automobile has appealed to all age groups and has kept the ownership of a Corvette, a most prestigious thing.
The Corvette has gone through many changes in its lifetime, including every custom and hot rod trend going. It has a miracle that the Corvette has remained a true high performance sports car and did not mature into a two plus two sedan as did Ford's Thunderbird. The Corvette was in the on the beginnings of the fast car era. In the mid 50's people wanted fast cars, and by 1957 the Corvette was leading the pack. Hot rodding owes a big debt to the Corvette; it was responsible for almost all of the higher performance parts ever to come from Chevrolet. Four speed transmissions, dual quad intake manifolds and hot solid lifter camshafts.
One of the big contributions to the Corvette's success story was the variety of options that were offered. Ever since 1956, there had been the choice of a standard of high performance automatic transmission. Each car could be tailored into a semi competitive race car of a good day to day commuter by just selecting the right options. The Corvette could play either role very well.
Performance was the trend in the late 1950's and early 1960's. One of the biggest controversies of the day was which was faster - a Corvette with dual four barrel carbs or one with fuel injection.
Corvette owners were buying the high performance versions and putting them to good use at weekend drags and the novice road events. There were metallic brake and sway bar options for the sporty set. And although the suspensions system was a conglomeration of early passenger car parts, the low center of gravity and near equal weight distribution made these cars handle well. The 50/50 weight distribution did not hurt the drag racers one bit either, and they won more than their share.
When 1963 happened, it brought with it a real change in the Corvette. The new body style called the "Sting Ray" was unavailable in a fastback version commonly referred to as a "coupe" and in the traditional roadster version with a removable hardtop. The Sting Ray had much cleaner lines than its predecessors and even featured retractable headlights. With the change in body style, the suspension was vastly improved with a new independent rear suspension assembly and updated steering gear. It still had the performance of the older cars, including the Rochester fuel injected 327 cubic inch engine, rated at 360 horsepower.
The Chevrolet Corvette is certainly an American Sportscar Classic.

Car Accessories and the Comfort of Driving

Car Accessories and the Comfort of Driving
by Alexus Devon
A car is undoubtedly the most precious possession of a person. No matter what type of car one buys, it necessitates a huge amount of money. Even the used, old cars are not sold for song. For some people, buying a car is a dream come true. The thing that is bought with large amount of money is obviously expected to provide the owner with comfort by making his journey easier.
Undoubtedly, a car does a lot for its owner. It makes his journeys easier, faster and free from hassles. But the absence of a few car accessories may make a car fail to provide the comfort that it is capable of. For example, the absence of an MP3 player will deprive the owner from the delight of listening to music while on move. Similarly, there are so many other accessories that make a great difference in the comfort of travelling in a car.
Car owners have a common tendency to use car accessories either for making the car comfy or to make it look flashy. Most of the owners neglect the security part. But the fact is that security kits are important for all the cars. This is because every car has the same level possibility to meet with an unforeseen accident. Of course, the expertise and carefulness of the driver do make a difference. But it does not make the security kits irrelevant.
Car mats are among the highly essential car accessories. They are useful for every car owner. And they need to be put both in front, rear and even in the boot of the car. It may look odd to have car mats in the boot. But it serves two purposes if it is used in the trunk. They prevent liquid from getting inside the floor. Thus, the floor remains free from rusting and dusting. At the same time, they keep tight hold on the goods. So, they do not get damaged due to the jerking and shaking of the car.

Electric Cars: Are They in Your Future?

Electric Cars: Are They in Your Future?
by Floyd Dorrance
Hybrid Electric Car: A Promising Future for the Environment
When you think about "hybrid car", what do you think of first? Which aspects of "hybrid car" are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.
A hybrid-electric vehicle, or HEV, combines an electrical energy storage system with an occupied means of generating electrical energy, usually through the consumption of some type of fuel. Each type of HEV has its own operating quality and chosen design practices, as well as advantages and disadvantages.
The development of interior ignition engine vehicles, especially in automobiles, is one of the supreme achievements of modern technology as a new rising energy saving and environment -friendly vehicle, that's why the hybrid-electric vehicles were created to give convenience to every human.
In the process of creating the hybrid electric car, the most important is the energy saving and the environmental protection. Wherein nowadays these are the common problems faced by the society.
The main disadvantage of the electric car is that it is mainly dependent on the batteries and has limited range.
First of all, the hybrid electric car was supposed to be an electric vehicle with batteries for power storage and is also equipped with an on-board heat engine-powered generator. This means that this type of hybrid has an extended range.
Since the beginning of the use of automobiles, electric cars have been already recognized and conceptualized. Even though the electric power train is better in various aspects, as an energy source, the battery was unequal to the superior-energy content, easiness in terms of the handling, and inexpensive and profuse supplies of motor fuel.
The best time to learn about "hybrid car" is before you're in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable "hybrid car" experience while it's still free.
It has almost been a century since the electric car has been popularly discussed, but recent developments in the HEV technology and the growing concerns for the environment has revived the drive for an HEV and this has become a realization today.
We can consider the personal means of transportation as a very important bond in the economic chain of today's modern societies and that a private vehicle appears to be the popular choice.
Electric vehicles are more energy efficient than the contemporary vehicles wherein the electric vehicles operates at approximately 46 percent of effectiveness, while a contemporary vehicle operates at only 18 percent.
There are studies that generally concludes that electric cars with batteries are approximately 10 to 30 percent more efficient with energy than the usual gasoline cars, depending on the exact assumptions of the vehicles energy usage and energy chain efficiency.
The comparisons of the electric vehicles and the conventional vehicles are comparisons between an extremely developed power system that is nearly in the end of its research and development, and the innovative power system in the beginning stages of the development wherein important development can be expected as the new technology evolves.
The advantages of electric powered modes of transportation extends beyond the true outlook of economizing energy. Electric generation plants can use substitute fuels that are not adaptable to portable power systems.
Electric vehicles are the definitive alternative fuel vehicles because their power is taken from the source fuels utilized to produce electricity. Aside from that, the flexibility of the fuel alone can offer important useful and economic advantages especially in relation to a variety of energy resources.
The electric car is truly a promising technology that could transform one's means of transportation into a far more environmentally acceptable type of commodity. Through this innovation emission controls become more important, effective and economically beneficial.
The day will come when you can use something you read about here to have a beneficial impact. Then you'll be glad you took the time to learn more about "hybrid car".

Volvo's New Safety Technology
by Evander Klum
The Volvo renowned for its safety vehicles is back with new safety technology which is guaranteed so as they claimed to reduce car accidents.
Volvo's treasure trove of safety features includes the first laminated windscreens which were introduced in 1944, the lap-sash seatbelt launched in 1959, and the driver's airbag in 1987. These safety features have been around for many years and have been implemented by various automakers as standard safety features of their vehicles. Volvo's safety features were created before any legislative requirements were made. Through the years the Swedish-based subsidiary of Ford has continuously improve its car safety technology which are employed to its latest range of Volvos.
Among the new safety features that Volvo has created are the following: Driver Alert Control system which alerts tired as well as inattentive drivers, the LDW system or the Lane Departure Warning system, and a collision warning system with an automatic brake function that prevents front-to-rear impacts.
The aforementioned safety features are now being implemented on Volvo vehicles. Take for instance the new S80 which is equipped with a collision warning system with brake support. According to the Swedish automaker the next in line is an auto brake system. The LDW is offered separately from the blind-spot camera system which is offered as an option for local Volvos.
Todd Hallenbeck Volvo Cars Australia spokesman said that the Swedish automaker has recently become particularly focused on safety particularly in terms of preventive safety.
Volvo has based the development of its new safety technology on the research that shows around 90 percent of all crashes attributed to drivers being distracted. The DAC system, together with the LDW system - are samples of the safety features that Volvo created to address such particular problem. These safety features are part of the option package called the Driver Alert System which was introduced late last year in Europe particularly for Volvo models such as the S80, V70, and the XC70.
Ingrid Skogsmo Volvo Cars Safety Centre Director said that safety is the key philosophy of the company. She also said as quoted by Cars Guide: "When it comes to preventive safety, we have the same approach as when we develop protective systems. In other words, Volvo's safety research and technical development focuses on areas where new technology can create significant positive results in real-life traffic."
Volvo the producer of high quality Volvo grilles has created the DAC after studies showed that driver fatigue is a major safety concern around the world. The studies were conducted by Monash University Accident Research Centre in 1998. Their studies showed that around 25 percent and 35 percent of fatal crashes in Australia were attributed to fatigue. And basing on the data they've collected, the figures are likely to go higher especially for some types of crashes such as those similar to fatal single-vehicle semi-trailer crashes.
The DAC system is activated at 65km/h and continues to be active even above 60km/h. the camera, sensors as well as the control unit, monitors the behavior of the driver. The camera also measures the distance between the car and its relation to the road lane markings.
And if for some reason the driver swerve off the road an audible signal is given alerting the driver. There is also a text message that appears in the car's information display such as a coffee cup symbol which means that driver should take a break.
The DAC works hand-in-hand with the LDW which the Swedish automaker claimed can prevent around 30 percent to percent of single-vehicle crashes between 70km/h and 100km/h. The LDW gives off a warning chime whenever a driver crosses the road markings for no reason. Likewise, the collision warning with auto-brake function slows down the car whenever it senses an imminent impact.

High-Performance Volvo S80 Ready for 2007 SEMA

High-Performance Volvo S80 Ready for 2007 SEMA
by Evander Klum
Heico Sportiv, a German automotive tuning company exclusively for Volvo vehicle models released the details of the newest item that will be added to the company's product lineup.
Heico Sportiv applied their engineering skills to the Volvo S80 and added some high-performance parts to boost the vehicle's dynamic handling and power output. Called the Heico S80 High Performance Concept, this model will make its world debut at the upcoming SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show later this October.
The Heico S80 High Performance Concept will be equipped with a turbocharged T6 engine under its hood capable of pumping out 350 hp at 5,500 rpm and pulls out a massive 550 Nm of peak torque rotating between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm. This power unit allows the Heico S80 High Performance Concept to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.8 seconds. The good things is, this turbocharged T6 engine can run on E85 fuel, a mixture 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. The Heico S80 High Performance Concept features also features the company's electronically controlled All Wheel Drive system with Instant Traction as well as specially developed sport suspension, new shocks and springs. Other technical parts include the 6-pot sport brake system with blue callipers featuring the Heico Sportiv logo, sports brake pads and 355x32 mm discs.
"We wanted to explore how far we could take a special high-performance version of the S80. Heico Sportiv's impressive track record in motor sports and Volvo tuning made them the perfect partner for the job," says Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President Brand, Business and Product Strategy at Volvo Cars. "Personally, I think the result is absolutely stunning. Both when it comes to the exterior and interior design as well as the impressive muscle under the bonnet." he added.
Heico Sportiv's president Holger Hedtke also added: "We are very pleased that Volvo Cars has given us the opportunity to design a concept car that profiles the sporty emotions of the brand and still remains true to the company's core values. Just like the C30 "Camo" we designed for SEMA last year, the S80 High Performance Concept represents the very best of our long experience of Volvo tuning and motor sports. The engine development is not yet finalized, so we hope to reach an even higher horsepower figure when the car is ready for SEMA. When it comes to the driving experience, we aimed at tuning all the components so we get a dynamic yet harmonious result. In other words, a true sports car experience without losing."
The Heico S80 High Performance Concept comes in high-tech aluminum exterior look. This distinctive appeal on the vehicle is highlighted by other exterior features including the exclusive 20-inch VOLUTION X forged alloy wheels covered with 255/30 R 20 tires from Continental. Other exterior features of the Heico S80 High Performance Concept include matte finish black chrome tailpipe trim, window mouldings, front grill, and rub strips. Moreover the car also features integrated spoiler flaps on the front, three larger air ducts, integrated LED daytime running lights, Volvo fog lights, integrated sport grille with the Volvo iron mark, stainless steel exhaust system integrated into the wide rear spoiler, and a rear deck spoiler.
"To bring out the shiny, "real metal" effect was a major challenge. This type of paint is normally not used to cover a whole car. All told, the bodywork features seven coats of paint. The coat that gives the aluminium effect doesn't allow any touch-ups afterwards, so you have to get it right from the beginning. The whole process takes two weeks." says Holger Hedtke.
Inside, the Heico S80 High Performance Concept comes in high-quality leather Mystic Blue interior with blue stitching, Heico Sportiv logo, sport-contoured front seats, along with other interior features like two individual "bucket" seats, sports steering wheel trimmed in leather, leather-trim gear lever with silver carbon accent, extended floating centre stack, and a rear seat entertainment system.

Mercedes Care - The Anal Retentive Luxury Enthusiast's Guide
by Billy Han
The Anal Retentive Luxury Car Enthusiast's Guide to Mercedes Car Care
Listen, buddy.
That Mercedes of yours is not some fuel-saving, spendthrift, racing-striped go-cart you're driving here. It consists of sumptuous, high-performance Mercedes parts arranged in a manner of technological mastery in order to deliver a driving experience that is second to none. What you're driving is the confluence of advanced engineering and custom Mercedes Parts compiled into the very definition of luxury.
So tell me, can you explain the sullying layer of dirt and grime so thick that you see nothing but darkness in the rearview mirror? Can you tell my why the magnificent black and chrome luster sparkles in the afternoon sun about as well as a tortoise shell? My goodness, are those door-dings I see on the paintjob?
Sit down, sir. It's time we had a little chat. It's about time I let you in on a growing epidemic that is rocking the very foundations of our beloved Mercedes vehicles: car care ineptitude. It has become all-too-common a problem among Mercedes enthusiasts, as well as all luxury car owners in general. This is puzzling, to say the least, since taking proper care of all those fine Mercedes parts is much easier than one might believe.
Personally, I like to think of owning a Mercedes as analogous to having a pet. Owning one brings you satisfaction and contentment. It adds an extra jig to your step and makes you feel proud that wherever you go, whatever you do, your loyal pet is there accompanying you.
On one hand, you can treat it with the utmost care, feeding it the best food, bathing it regularly, and training it to obey your commands. And in the end, your pet will reward you with years of problem-free service and devotion.
On the other hand, you can neglect it and take it for granted. Then some years down the line, the embittered and lackluster piece of machinery that was once a joy to own will ultimately fill you with regret and self-consciousness. The once formidable mass of custom Mercedes parts that comprised your luxury vehicle simply ceases to be luxurious, and all that remains is a dingy, shell of a vehicle that sputters down the highway collecting dust.
Welcome to Mercedes car care 101. Contained herein is the true Mercedes enthusiast's guide to taking care of not just Mercedes vehicles, but all luxury vehicles in general, making sure that every last inch of those custom Mercedes parts stays in pristine - and lasting - condition.
"Wash Me"
Every so often, some purported jokester might leave some finger trails in the layer of accumulating dirt on your car, as if to mock your lack of cleanliness with a personal decoration.
Do us all a favor and give this person a piece of your mind, both because it's an old and unoriginal joke that isn't even funny anymore, and also because the half-hearted work of art is actually dragging dirt particles across the precious Mercedes parts that compose the exterior of your car, causing minor scratches. Yet don't be too quick to hand out the blame, as the weak attempt at humor could have been easily avoided if you were prone to regular washes.
For those who are proud enough of their fine luxury vehicles such that they regularly wash and upkeep the appearance of their cars, I salute you. On the other hand, if you're the type that skips the wash and instead waits for a rainy day, or looks for the parking spot next to an errant sprinkler head, please sit down, my friend. We need to have a little talk.
Yes, washing your car is cumbersome. Yes, it can be annoying at times. Yes, it's frustrating when you polish every inch of those custom chrome Mercedes parts to a high shine, only to have it ruined minutes later when driving through a decent-sized puddle in the middle of the street. But trust me when I tell you that the consequences of neglecting your vehicle's appearance can be far worse than having to go through the process of washing regularly.
Allow me to regale you with a personal experience that has changed my car care habits forever...
I once had the privilege of owning a 1999 Mercedes C43 AMG, fully customized and garnished with all the latest Mercedes parts that earned it an AMG badge. The white paintjob deceptively enshrouded 8 cylinders of glorious muscle under the hood, and the blue on black interior was the most polished and stylish interior I have ever seen in any vehicle, even to this day.
It was my first luxury car, and sure enough, I knew nothing of taking proper care of it. A layer of dust would accumulate on the paintjob, leading onlookers to believe that its color was more pepper than salt. A thick layer of brake dust gathered on the custom alloy AMG wheels, and who knew what putrid dregs festered deep in the floor mats.
Even after an extensive detail, when compared to another similar vehicle, the once luminous sparkle of glorious Mercedes parts appeared tainted and bland. The paintjob had noticeably faded, and the wheels had acquired a dark tint due to brake dust stains. My formerly glitzy, high performance machine was now dull and ordinary. And really, why invest in a luxury vehicle in the first place if it ends up looking stale?
Accessorize!
Naturally, those who are consistent with washing, detailing, and maintaining the overall appearance of their Mercedes need not apply. Yet for those who move at a more hectic pace, or perhaps simply just aren't aware, a number of measures can be taken in order to make upkeep of your Mercedes parts much easier.
Accessories such as floor mats, car covers, and other useful Mercedes parts can go a long way in both enhancing and preserving the appearance of your vehicle, and with a number of custom aftermarket options available, you're sure to find a vast selection of quality Mercedes parts that complement your vehicle perfectly and don't look cheap or tacked on.
Additionally, while I certainly hope it's just my imagination, there may be some out there who may not take proper or regular care of their Mercedes vehicle. Well, though we may not see eye-to-eye, such indiscretions can be both forgiven and remedied. In addition to aftermarket Mercedes parts that can help to preserve and protect the appearance of your vehicle, there are also numerous aftermarket Mercedes parts available that can restore your vehicle to as close to brand new as possible.
The following are a few examples of simple, inexpensive Mercedes parts that can do wonders to either protect or restore your vehicle.
Floor Mats:
Yes, floor mats. I do realize that of all the possible Mercedes parts I could recommend floors seem a bit of a puzzling choice. But let's think about this for a moment. Essentially, everything that gathers on the bottoms of your shoes is tracked onto your floor mats. Wherever you go, wherever you step, as days turn into weeks turn into months turn into years, those deceptively simple Mercedes floor mats are soaking up all the muck and dirt from each time you enter your vehicle. In the meantime, while you may be meticulous in taking care of all the interior Mercedes parts of your vehicle, there's always the floor mats lying there, like the ketchup stain on your white shirt.
Floor Mats tend to be one of the most neglected and overlooked Mercedes parts in your vehicle. Particularly if they come in darker colors, dirt, grime, and anything else that comes into contact with your feet finds its way into those comfy Mercedes floor mats, and even after successive vacuuming jobs or cleanings, they still won't be completely clean.
Fortunately, Mercedes floor mats are also one of the most easily replaced Mercedes parts in your vehicle. Aside from factory replacements that are available either direct from the manufacturer or most Mercedes parts outlets, a number of aftermarket Mercedes floor mats are custom fitted for your vehicle, and will do the job just as well, and at a fraction of the cost of factory ones.
Though probably the wisest investment you can make in Mercedes floor mats is to purchase a set of rubber or all-weather ones that are impermeable to liquids and much easier to clean. In addition, a set of custom rubber Mercedes floor mats gives your vehicle a sportier and more rugged style, as many with sleek grooves and designs are available.
Car Cover:
While I could produce a rather lengthy list of parts, accessories, washing materials, and replacement items, there really isn't much that I could say that you wouldn't already know. Besides, I think I've lectured you enough about washing your car regularly.
Instead, what I will suggest is one of the simplest, inexpensive, and forgotten accessories available that can go a long way in preserving the condition of your vehicle - Mercedes car covers. It may be hard to believe, but a simple layer of fabric is all that is needed to preserve the exterior and interior Mercedes parts to help maintain a lasting appearance through the years.
Extended wear and deterioration due to sun and inclement weather are the most obvious potentially damaging factors. When it comes to those really hot days, Mercedes car covers protect the paintjob and all your interior Mercedes parts from fading and cracking. And yes, even exterior Mercedes parts can fade, crack, and deteriorate, particularly if one does not pay heed to regular washing and waxing.
But probably the most overlooked factor to keep in mind when considering Mercedes car covers is outdoor humidity. Ever notice stepping outside to your vehicle in the morning to find a thin and seemingly harmless layer of dew on your paintjob? Ever find yourself wondering why after a meticulous waxing job, a layer of dust and dirt particles appears to be accumulating on your outer Mercedes parts?
What essentially ends up happening is that humidity causes a slight layer of moisture to form on your vehicle, which then attracts dust and dirt particles. Over time, this ostensibly innocent layer of dirt can cause minor scratches that weather away the layers of paint. If your vehicle happens to sport a black or very dark paintjob, you might notice the development of what appears to be wavy scratch marks or swirls that exemplify it. Don't let anyone convince you that this is normal.
To your fortunes, a wide variety of Mercedes car covers is readily available. And many are constructed from space-age, advanced fabrication systems for breathable ventilation, a custom fit, and an intuitive design that is both easy to stow and slip on or off in just seconds.
Aftermarket Mercedes Parts:
Okay, so maybe you aren't the anal retentive, overly meticulous, luxury vehicle geek that I am. Maybe you're not washing every other week and waxing once every couple months as I do. Maybe your trunk isn't always stocked with a scratch-free dust mop, spray-on detailer, and an assortment of microfiber washcloths.
Understandably, any sort of car care is a somewhat painstaking process. Not everyone derives joy from wiping off a layer of wax to unveil the magnificent gloss and luster underneath as I do. Shoot, even engine and general performance care typically only involve dropping your vehicle off at the shop and perusing the assortment of magazines in the waiting room.
Yet for those who see their vehicles less like a pet and more like a utility, there is still a last resort to be found in aftermarket Mercedes parts.
From chrome trim, to custom wheels, to stylish seat covers, a number of aftermarket Mercedes parts are available that can restore or possibly help preserve the luxurious look and feel of your Mercedes vehicle. Retailers typically offer both factory replacement parts direct from the manufacturer, as well as less expensive aftermarket Mercedes parts.

Durable Pontiac car door--sporty and aggressive safety car component
Durable Pontiac car door--sporty and aggressive safety car component
by Anthony Fontanelle
From 1926 to present, Pontiac vehicles has continued to be one of the high performance and sporty marque of vehicle produced by General Motors. This mid level car make was originally introduced as a 5 passenger car by the Oakland Automobile Co. Even though Pontiac vehicles were designed as a low-price alternative, they are far more equipped than entry level cars with its standard car parts and equipments. The powerful line up of Pontiac includes the Pontiac Sunfire, Pontiac G6, Pontiac Grand Prix, Pontiac GTO, Pontiac Vibe, Pontiac Bonneville, Pontiac Montana SV6, Pontiac Aztek and Pontiac Montana. The sporty, aggressive but youthful impact of Pontiac vehicles made them appeal to younger car enthusiasts. But it would not be able to catch the attention of car lovers if not for the car components comprising it. No matter how big or small, every component attached to your Pontiac complements the performance and feature of your car. They are highly engineered so you would be able to achieve the durability and efficiency in ride handling.
The Pontiac door is among the most important aspects of your car. This car component is basically an opening that enables you to get inside and outside of your car easily. Although important, car doors are the most often neglected and abused part of your car. This may be one of the simplest car parts, but it ensures your safety and protection. Just think of your Pontiac without a door. Even if you have the most technologically advanced and high performance parts, your Pontiac would be incomplete without a car door. Do you know that in the United States alone, forty-two thousand accidents resulted from defective car door locks and hinges? With this figure, don't you think that you should not take your car doors for granted? For this reason, your Pontiac vehicle has adapted the regulations and standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding car doors. To be able to make your driving safe, you must employ constant repairs and inspection of your Pontiac car door for possible cracks, dings, and defects.
Your Pontiac door is made up of several parts which include the door handle, door glass, door panel, door frame, window channel, door skin and door switch. The door handle is used to lift up the locking mechanism present in your car door so that you can get in or out of your car. The door glass or window glass is a car door part that can be raised or lowered. The door switch, on the other hand activates all the other spurs and gears installed on your car door assembly. The inner door panel is attached to the door frame. The door skin is attached outside the window channel and the door frame. And lastly, the window channel is where the door glass is mounted. There are also two types of car doors: the manual car doors and the electric or automated car doors. Automated car doors are electrically controlled with a motor that is hidden within the lower corner or rearward corner of your door. If you want to upgrade your car door, just go to your favorite car parts dealer and get some car door add-ons.

The GPS Mount: Secure Navigation
by David Faulkner
GPS, or global positioning systems, have been around since the 1970s, when the US Department of Defense established a program using a group of twenty-one satellites to track the locations of their targets and send the information to military receivers. In the ensuing three decades, GPS technology has been adapted for civilian use, and is now widely available to the public. Commercially available GPD receivers can range in price to about $100 for a handheld unit to more than $15000 for the geodetic receivers used to measure the motion of the Earth and other natural phenomena.
Most people are familiar with GPS technology as the navigations system now available in many automobiles. But all vehicular GPS units, whether they are in cars, planes, boats, or even on motorcycles, have one thing in common: their GPS mounts. A GPS mount acts as a shock absorber and is essential to the accurate functioning of GPS receivers.
What A GPS Mount Does
The GPS mount secures the GPS receiver so that its screen is easily readable even while the vehicle is in motion. A GPS mount is equipped with locking suction cups to attach it securely to a smooth surface, while its cushioned pads prevent the surface from damage. The suction cups will release easily when a button on the mount is pushed.
When choosing the best GPS mount for your vehicle, you'll have to take several things into consideration. The mount should attach securely to your vehicle surface and its arms should to your GPS receiver. It should neither shake loose from your vehicle nor be unable to hold the weight of the GPS unit it is meant to secure.
Features To Look For In A GPS Mount
If you're an off-roader, you'll be especially concerned with the durability of you GPS mount and its ability to cushion your GPS unit from the jarring that comes with travels over rugged terrain.
Your GPS mount, when the GPS unit is added, should allow the driver to view the GPD information without having it block his vision of the road in any direction. So it has to be the correct height. For more info see http://www.gpssystemsreview.com/Articles/GPS_Systems.php on GPS Systems.
GPD mount kits are available with tilt and rotational capabilities, so that the vehicle's operator can read their screens from any position. Some of them may have speakers for GPS receivers with Bluetooth, and some have battery chargers. A GPS mount can cost anywhere from ten to over three hundred dollars, depending on its technology.
The Garmin Mobile 20 GPS, for instance, is an automotive GPS tracking system which provides information via Nokia smart phones, and its GPS mount is actually a mobile phone cradle with Bluetooth tooth capability into which a GPS receiver has been built. This GPS mount can actually provide voice directions so that the driver does not need to read the screen. The Garmin Mobile 20 lists for $319.00.

Infiniti part: extend the lifespan of your car
by Tim Johrer
Buying a car is one dream that most of us cherish and put all our efforts to materialize this dream. To buy a car you need loads of money and if you are one of those who have a soft corner for luxury cars, their pockets will have to be really deep. Luxury cars have a class and style of their own and just by seeing the car you will feel the whole aura of class and elegance. Infiniti is one brand of luxury car manufactured by Nissan, the Japanese automobile company that is very high on the popularity chart. Infiniti cars are frenzy among people who love to drive in a luxury car and if you have the money, owning a luxury car like Infiniti is not a very difficult task. Now if you are driving an Infiniti car you have to make sure that you have access to all the genuine Infiniti parts so that the car runs perfectly for a long time.
Infiniti parts are normally available with all Infiniti dealers, however you must beware of all the dealers who claim to sell original ones and instead sell fake Infiniti parts. If you find that it is difficult to locate a genuine Infiniti dealer, you can take the help of the internet. You just have to locate an Infiniti dealer who is nearest to the place where you are staying. It is not only for buying the Infiniti part that you must find out an Infiniti dealer, but also for buying the car you must find out a genuine dealer. If for some reason you are facing a financial crunch and still want to buy an Infiniti car, you can easily do so with an auto loan. Auto loan is not something that is difficult to get, just get hold of a loan provider who is charging a decent rate of interest on the loan amount.
To get an auto loan, first you must determine what amount you require and based on that amount you will have to approach the loan provider. Buying a used Infiniti car is another option that you can think of. Most dealers sell used cars and this is a good option for you as you will get an Infiniti car at a reduced price. Most of these cars are very new and some of them even come under the warranty period and if you end up buying one of those cars you are buying almost a new car. The only thing that you will probably be missing by buying a used car is the smell and feel of a new car.

Toyota Invading the Truck and Bus Segment in India
Toyota Invading the Truck and Bus Segment in India
by Evander Klum
Toyota Motor Corporation, currently the largest auto maker in the industry, is fast tracking clear and definite plans to strengthen the company's stability. They have settled braced foundation in each of their market, of which recently brought success in India. After Toyota thoroughly managed to prosper with their premium cars and multi-utility vehicles in the country, they are now opting to flourish in the truck and bus segment. In relation to that, the company is in negotiation to settle a manufacturing facility for the said commercial vehicles.
Hino was known to be the brand behind Toyota manufacturer's trucks and buses. Since they were able to release 52,684 units sold in Japan and has exported a total of 47,550 units, they have concluded that the segment should be given focus this time. It has the potential to bring forth further success to Toyota. It can be noted that auto makers Volvo and Mercedes have earlier engaged in expanding their interest in the same segment. They are all attracted to the $5 billion market, which was initially dominated by Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland.
A source was reported to have said, "Earlier, Toyota had met Rajasthan government with plan of setting up its small car facility."
"But the company has now decided to manufacture small car in Karnataka, at a brownfield plant at its existing facility in Bidadi," they added. This was in relation to Toyota's current plan of creating a manufacturing facility with the recognition of Rajasthan government.
According to an industry observer, "Any major auto manufacturing facility would require a minimum investment of Rs 1,500 crore." They said "Rajasthan government plans to offer tailor made tax sops to the tune of about Rx 500 crore over a period of time for companies looking to invest in excess of Rs 1,000 crore.
Manufacturing facilities that is part of Toyota's plan is not just for the commercial vehicles, but also for some of their luxury brands such as Lexus, and subsidiary brands such as Daihatsu.
As what was been discussed in an article, "Toyota is in parleys with the Karnataka government for additional land to set-up a housing society for its workforce." This will eventually offer employment in the area and would further increase the availability of the cars in demand. Expansion on quality auto parts and accessories such as Toyota floor mats production might as well be prevalent to help further boost the on going project.
For now, we would just then be observing the progress as Toyota officials said, "As a policy we don't comment on our future plans."

The Illustrious History Of Nascar
The Illustrious History Of Nascar
by Ryan Simpson
The Illustrious History Of Nascar by Ryan Simpson
NASCAR history is filled with influential people. A few influential individuals, including William France, Sr., have been responsible for creating the sport and taking it to where it is today.
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) was founded by France on February 21st, 1948. France, together with other drivers, designed a points system that would become the foundation of NASCAR racing. As early as 1948, the schedule consisted of 52 modified races that were run on dirt tracks. The first National Championship was won by Red Byron.
The Beginnings
Named its first commissioner, Erwin "Cannonball" Baker had a big impact on the history of NASCAR. An accomplished racer who set dozens of land speed records himself (hence his nickname), Baker allowed almost no changes to the cars that were raced.
Glenn Dunnaway became the first NASCAR driver to be disqualified after it was discovered that he had altered the rear springs in his cars. However, over a 10-15 year period, modifications were allowed for safety and performance periods, until by the mid-1960s almost all stock cars were built solely for the purpose of racing them.
Most NASCAR race tracks were from half a mile to a mile long, and the action in a relatively compact area added to the excitement of the sport. Some of the earlier tracks, such as the Martinsville Speedway and the Darlington Raceway are still in use today. Even the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which has been in existence since 1909, is still being used. However, the most famous race track of the NEXTEL Cup Series, the Daytona International Speedway was built in 1959, with a length of 2.5 miles.
The Later Years
In the early 1970s, the history of NASCAR took a dramatic turn. It increased in popularity due in large part to an altered points system as well as new sponsorship including the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
In 1979, the Daytona 500 was shown on CBS, making it the first NASCAR race to be shown from start to finish on television. Going into the last lap, leaders Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison got into a wreck, allowing a third driver to pass them both for the win. Yarborough and Allison got into a fistfight, and the drama and emotion that was shown in that race might be the defining moment in the history of NASCAR. Its popularity has steadily increased since.
NASCAR counts today amongst the most popular sports in the USA. It is hugely profitable for the participants as well, with at least million in prize money up for grabs at every race in the NEXTEL Cup Series. The NEXTEL Cup is run over 36 races. The sport is so popular that the successful drivers have millions of devoted fans that watch every single race and spend a lot of money on fan gear every year. In a way, the history of NASCAR is still in the writing.

Volvo Presents the C30 ReCharge Concept

Volvo Presents the C30 ReCharge Concept
by Evander Klum
Ford Motor Company's Volvo Cars division is poised to introduce a brand new concept model at the upcoming 2007 International Motor Show (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, IAA) in Frankfurt. The Swedish automaker will present the ReCharge Concept, a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
The Volvo ReCharge Concept will be equipped with individual electric wheel motors and batteries that can be recharged through electrical outlets. The ReCharge Concept will be installed in a Volvo C30 and will make its debut in front of the European crowd at IAA Frankfurt.
"A certain proportion of electrical vehicles will be necessary to meet the CO2 emission demands of the future. Since the Volvo ReCharge Concept combines an excellent battery range with a backup combustion engine, it is a very interesting concept." says Magnus Jonsson, Senior Vice President Research and Development at Volvo Cars.
"This plug-in hybrid car, when used as intended, should have about 66 percent lower emissions of carbon dioxide compared with the best hybrid cars available on the market today. Emissions may be even lower if most of the electricity in intended markets comes from CO2-friendly sources such as biogas, hydropower and nuclear power. The only requirement is that the car owner has access to electrical outlets at convenient places, such as at home or at the workplace. A full recharge takes 3 hours. However, even a one-hour quick charge should provide enough charge to drive about 50 kilometres." he added.
Volvo engineers developed the ReCharge Concept at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center (VMCC) in Camarillo, California. This latest powertrain from the Swedish automaker combines the several technical innovations found today. The ReCharge Concept is equipped with a battery pack made of lithium-polymer that features an impressive longevity. Each wheel of the C30 ReCharge Concept comes with electric motors that provide independent traction power to the vehicle.
Finally, C30 ReCharge Concept comes with a 1.6-litre Flexifuel engine with an advanced generator, called Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) that provides power to the vehicle when the battery ran out of energy. In addition, the driver can also choose which power source will be used to drive the Volvo C30 ReCharge Concept. The driver can switch between two power sources: the battery or the 1.6-litre Flexifuel engine via a button on the instrument panel.
This offers an excellent fuel economy for the customers. When fully charged, the ReCharge Concept only consumes about 2.8 litres of fuel for 93 miles of driving range. This shows an effective fuel economy of 1.9 l/100km or 124 mpg.
Ichiro Sugioka, project manager for the Volvo ReCharge Concept concluded: "There is a considerable difference between our plug-in hybrid and today's hybrids. Today's hybrids use the battery only for short periods to assist the combustion engine. Our solution is designed for most people to run on electric power all the time, while providing the extra security that comes with having a combustion engine as a secondary source of electrical power. What is more, our C30 with plug-in hybrid technology retains its lively and sporty driving properties. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 9 seconds and top speed is 160 km/h."

Cheap Classic Cars For Sale

Cheap Classic Cars For Sale
by M.C.
I just been recently introduced to classic cars and I have to admit they are slowly growing on me. Although I am yet to buy one I find myself searching for cheap classic cars for sale online, almost every day now.
It all begab almost two weeks ago when one of my long time buddies, sent me a picture on my msn messenger. I clicked on the link and I ended up on one of the classic car classified sites. I do not remember exactely which website it was but after looking around for a while I was really starting to get excited.
There's just something about the vintage shapes and designs that make these cars sometimes look even better than the latest Cadillac Escalade. Just a few minutes ago I showed one of my friends a 1959 Chevy Suburban. You have to see this monster of a car, there is still a slight resemblence to the current 2007 models.
Browsing the muscle classic cars for sale section of a popular site you can not help but want to buy, not just one, but all of them. I am noticing a trend of too many Pontiac GTO models being offered for sale. Is this the muscle car of the moment? Maybe, or it's probably famous because of it's speed and power, after all most guys like their cars powerful and super fast. When you add the classic edge to it, you definitely have yourself a chick magnet.
If you are the do it yourself kind of guy or maybe you have a lot of time on your hands you might want to check out the project classic cars. Speaking of which I am thinking of maybe getting myself one of those to keep me occupied during the weekends. Come on this is like the grown up car fanatic's jig saw puzzle, it should be fun looking for the car parts, but probably very stressful at the same time.
Since my 'day job' involves designing and setting up websites, my new found fascination of classic cars has led me to develop a classic car classifieds site. Over the next couple of months, I will be developing this site to feature the best deals on old classic cars for sale on the internet.

Detroit And Chevrolet History

Detroit And Chevrolet History
by Frank vanderlugt
The history of Detroit Chevrolet is a long and storied one. Chevrolet is one of America's most well-known car manufacturers. Learning about the company's history illuminates not only the forward progress of Chevrolet but also the company's importance to the United States.
The Chevrolet Motor Company incorporated in 1911 and had its headquarters in Detroit. One year later, the company released its "Classic Six," a five passenger sedan. William Durant, the company's founder, wanted to compete with the Ford Motor Company and offer more inexpensive vehicles for the public.
Several years later, in 1914, Chevrolet adopted their "bowtie" logo that has come to symbolize the company. The legend is that Durant saw a similar pattern on wallpaper in a Paris hotel. Supposedly, he took a piece of the wallpaper as inspiration, thinking that he'd find a use for it.
Starting in 1915, the company began direct competition with Ford's Model T, by introducing the "490." In 1918, Chevrolet sold their first truck and the company was bought by General Motors.
In the 1920s, GM created its first European manufacturing plant in Copenhagen. The plant was established to make Chevrolet cars available to Scandinavian countries, Germany, Russia, and other northern European countries. The first vehicle was produced in 1924.
By the early 1940s, Chevrolet was producing over a million vehicles a year. With World War II, however, the company stopped production of consumer vehicles to focus on helping with the war effort.
Chevrolet introduced a number of features for the first time in the 1950s, including many that are still used in cars and trucks today. These new features included a low cost automatic transmission, power breaks, power windows, and Ramjet fuel injection. Popular styles like the Impala, Corvette, Bel Air, and El Camino were released to the public.
Over the next several decades, Chevrolet continued to release popular cars like the Camaro, Monte Carlo, and Chevette. The company sold millions of vehicles per year and received a number of prestigious automobile awards. During the 1980s and 1990s, the company kept pace with other popular styles and brought out four wheel SUVs as well as smaller sport vehicles.
Chevrolet remained a top seller in the vehicle industry in fifty of fifty three years during the twentieth century. During that time, they outsold other American companies like Ford. Millions of Americans bought Chevy cars and trucks and Chevy's advertising often reflected the popularity and all-American focus of the company.
In the twenty-first century, Chevrolet worked towards making their vehicles more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly and they introduced some hybrid cars and trucks. The company continued to produce a number of popular styles for consumers.
Detroit Chevrolet has been an important vehicle manufacturer in the United States and in other parts of the world. Throughout the company's history, they have sought to produce quality, stylish vehicles that matched the needs of consumers. Chevy introduced a number of features that are still used in many cars and trucks today.

How Hydrogen Can Help Save the World

How Hydrogen Can Help Save the World
by Michael Raber
There is a lot of hype about hydrogen in the news today. Not surprisingly, this is due to our dependence on foreign oil. It is no secret that there are only two ways for the United States to experience freedom from our dependence on foreign oil: increase our production, or decrease our demand. The most promising route is to create alternative sources of energy, a source that is available in the United States. There are many options; however only one will produce fastest and most economical results and that is hydrogen.
Lawmakers and government officials have been looking at many alternative sources of energy for a long time. They have considered coal, natural gas, wind, solar, water and nuclear energy over the years. Still, the best option appears to be hydrogen, and for good reason. Hydrogen is plentiful, is more effective at storing energy than batteries, it burns twice as effectively in a fuel cell than gasoline, and leaves only water in it's wake, not chemicals.
In order to get this done in a timely manner, the US will have to put to rest the complacency and get to work. In as little as ten years we could see mass production of hydrogen-powered vehicles. Ten years, if the US develops a plan and gets to work. According to one group of researchers and developers, there are five objectives that the United States would have to take care of to make this a realization. It relies on the fact that the US would have to utilize existing infrastructures to get it done. After the supply and demand is lined up, a cleaner version of the hydrogen product could be created.
1. Come up with a solution to the hydrogen fuel-tank dilemma. In other words, should gaseous, liquid or solid hydrogen be used? The simplest of the three options would be gaseous, however the most promising would be the solid hydrogen because of the method of dispersal.
2. Mass production of fuel-cell cars would have to become priority. Today, the cars are slow to release to the public. With a mass production and release of new and fuel efficient cars, many believe that Americans will be much more responsive to the concept of a new type of vehicle.
3. The government must create the fuel infrastructure for hydrogen-powered cars. Of course, unless consumers are convinced they can fuel up when they need it, they are not going to invest in the car. The fuel-cell cars and the infrastructure will have to move forward at the same pace and get completed simultaneously.
4. Find a way to mass-produce hydrogen in a clean way. Ideally, it would be best to create a power source from solar, wind or hydropower to produce the electricity needed to split the water into hydrogen and oxygen.
5. A public campaign would have to be started to sell the new technology. American consumers are waiting for an alternative such as this. However, one key component is going to be cost. Expecting the average American consumer to shell out two to four times more for a car is not practical in today's slow economy. If the government can find a way to make a hydrogen car that is fuel efficient, clean to the environment and cost effective, they will hit a home run with the people of this country.
With costs going up for everything, Americans are desperate for an answer. Gasoline engines are no longer practical, not only because of costs but also because of our increased dependency and strained country relationships. It is time that we take matters into our own hands and introduce the energy source of the future, and that is definitely hydrogen.

Hybrid Cars: Check out the Tax Breaks
Hybrid Cars: Check out the Tax Breaks.
by Floyd Dorrance
Hybrid Cars: The Tax Benefits.
When you're learning about something new, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.
Hybrid cars are one of the latest innovations in the car industry today. Because of the rising cost of fuel, car manufacturers have integrated the hybrid technology in their cars. The concept of the hybrid engine technology is actually very simple to explain. Although hybrid cars still use fuel, it can efficiently save it. This is because the hybrid technology combines the electric motor technology with the gasoline engine.
With the hybrid technology, it allows consumers to save as much as 30 miles a gallon on fuel. The main advantage of hybrid cars is when the car stops or when it is running on idle mode, it automatically shuts off the gasoline engine. However, the car will continue running but it will run on the electric motor. Therefore, it saves a lot on fuel. Just imagine being stuck on traffic, with the hybrid technology, you will never waste precious and expensive fuel when the car is running idle. This is also the reason why hybrid cars are so quiet when it is stationary. When you step on the accelerator, the gasoline engine automatically turns on again.
Another reason why hybrid cars are now preferred by most people is that it emits lower levels of toxic emissions. This means that hybrid cars are environmentally friendly. Just imagine, if all people would start using hybrid cars, it wOULD lessen the emission of carbon monoxide. For this reason, it will effectively stop global warming.
Is everything making sense so far? If not, I'm sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.
Because hybrid cars can both help in saving precious fuel and reduce the emission of toxic fumes, the government is now taking all the necessary steps to promote the hybrid technology. The consumer who owns a hybrid car can enjoy more benefits than you may imagine. Not only will they save a lot of money on fuel, and help produce a cleaner environment, but they can also enjoy tax rebates.
Back in 2005, the President of the United States signed an agreement that says that hybrid car buyers will be able to enjoy large amounts of tax relief. However, the amount of money you will save on the tax incentives will also vary on the hybrid car you purchase.
The first one you have to consider when getting a tax break is that it will depend on the fuel efficiency of the hybrid car you purchased when you compare it to a conventional car in the same weight class manufactured back in the year 2002. The more it saves fuel, the bigger the tax break will be.
The tax break imposed on a hybrid car will also vary on the amount of gasoline that the hybrid car can save in its total years of operation when it is compared to a conventional car in the same weight class. The more gasoline it saves, the bigger your tax relief will be.
It is a fact that hybrid cars can be expensive. However, just think about the long term benefits that the hybrid car can give you. If you calculate overall total expenses of a hybrid car and compare it to the total expenses of a conventional car during its lifetime, you will see that you can save more money on fuel. You will also save money on taxes. You will see that purchasing a hybrid car is definitely a good investment that all people should consider.
Not only will you be able contribute in producing a cleaner environment and save a lot of money on precious, expensive and limited supply of fuel, but you will also save a lot of money on tax rebates for hybrid car buyers.
Don't limit yourself by refusing to learn the details about "hybrid car". The more you know, the easier it will be to focus on what's important.

Makers Of Hybrid Cars
Makers Of Hybrid Cars
by James Gunaseelan
Deciding on the purchase of a hybrid car first begs the question, who makes them? The answer is just about everyone. Anyone who makes and sells cars are likely to do the same with hybrid cars especially now when their popularity is swiftly increasing. There are many manufacturers who make and sell hybrid cars who are constantly striving for better technologies. New plug in hybrid cars are examples of the lengths those who make these cars are willing to go to improve their product. Anyone who makes hybrid cars is earning a fortune as they are being encouraged by the government with the likes of tax rebates and carpool lane stickers as well as the emergence of public hybrid buses.
Hybrid cars are no longer a thing of the past and are not as unattractive as once suspected as there are many makes and models now catering for a combination of gas engine and electric motor. Any manufacturer who makes or sells hybrid cars is sitting on a goldmine as they are guaranteed to be around for quite a while and with some governments imposing bans and fines on vehicles with excessive gas emissions, hybrid cars may be the only way to turn. It has been predicted that hybrid cars will one day outnumber the average car in both technology and numbers.
Everyone can make money from hybrid cars as they provide an economic solution to car owners and offer a good deal of business to car dealers. Anyone who owns a hybrid car can make money through the hybrid tax rebate scheme as well as saving a fortune on gasoline which is now heavily priced and frequently increasing. Some states and areas have introduced carpool lane stickers for hybrid cars which give them access to high occupancy vehicle lanes and can dramatically cut their commute times.
This is highly advantageous in areas of high traffic especially in places where commuting is the norm. These stickers tend to be limited and only issued to hybrids which meet certain standards of low emissions and high gas mileage but they are just another incentive for drivers to purchase hybrid cars. Anyone who owns a hybrid car can make a savings on their investment which is just one reason why they are steadily growing in popularity. Energy efficiency and lowered gas emissions as well as economic savings all push hybrid cars into the forefront of the market.

Inventor Of The Hybrid Car
Inventor Of The Hybrid Car
by James Gunaseelan
A hybrid car is a means of transportation using two sources of power. It uses a rechargeable energy storage system found on board as well as a fuelled power source as the vehicle's driving force. The car pollutes less and uses less fuel. Victor Wouk (1919 - 2005) was an electrical engineer and entrepreneur and the inventor of the hybrid car. He was born in New York City and received a bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1939.
In 1962, Wouk was approached by a founder of Motorola cars, Russell Feldman, who identified the pollution from cars as one of the biggest problems of the environment. He wanted to find out the solutions to this problem. During the 1960's and 1970's, Wouk thought over this problem and got involved with vehicles. After a significant amount of work, he combined the low-emission benefits of an electric car with the power of a gasoline engine to produce a hybrid vehicle, effectively transforming a Buick Skylark vehicle with a 20 kilowatt direct-current electric motor and an RX-2 Mazda rotary engine.
The vehicle was tested at the Environmental Protection Agency's emissions investigation laboratories where it acquired more than twice the fuel economy of the vehicle before it was converted. The vehicles emission rates were also only nine percent of those of a gas powered car. It appeared as if Wouk had invented a new hybrid vehicle. At first, Wouk did not get any response to his ideas for inventing a hybrid car. He was very heavily condemned for not believing in a full electric system. Will the help of a friend, Charlie Rosen, who also believed in what hybrid cars could do and achieve, Wouk and Rosen created a new company to develop their hybrid car idea and make it viable in the market and be used as a car that people would use everyday.
They wanted the hybrid to be a car that created a solution to the problems of auto-pollution. As the inventor of hybrid cars, Wouk's work throughout his life gave him the name of 'the grandfather of electric and hybrid vehicles in the United States'. Despite of all his hard work in the sixties and seventies however, hybrid cars only started to appear in the vehicle market in the late 1990's. They are now becoming exceptionally popular, both by people who see them as a way of helping the environment, and those who see it as a way to save funds.

What Are Hybrid Cars?
What Are Hybrid Cars?
by James Gunaseelan
Hybrid Cars offer drivers an original, economical, and affordable option when it comes to driving. They are cars that are powered by an electric battery, in addition to a gasoline engine. The grouping of the two allows the electric motor and batteries to help the conventional engine operate more proficiently, cutting down on fuel use. Most cars that are on the road today have a gas powered internal engine only. Hybrid cars are more efficient in their use of gasoline. Today some of the most popular hybrids include the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight.
Hybrid cars are made from lightweight materials, which increase their efficiency. They have low rolling resistance tires, which are narrower that usual ones and have less drag, as well as advanced aerodynamics which also reduces drag. When a hybrid car is stopped and stationary, such as in a traffic jam, the engine is momentarily shut off, and it restarts automatically when put back into gear. The engine on a hybrid car is smaller and more efficient, and the car also has regenerative braking, where the electric motor that guides the hybrid can also slow the car. The motor operates as a generator and charges the batteries while the car is reducing speed.
There are many advantages, firstly that they save gas. Merging the cleaner energy of an electric motor with the capacity of a gasoline engine allows a hybrid car to save as much as 30 miles a gallon. They are also environmentally friendly, giving out lower toxic emissions compared to conventional gas cars due to less gasoline being burned. It is environmentally friendly, and causes less pollution. Less carbon dioxide is also released into the atmosphere. Nearly all hybrids still need to have gasoline and diesel as their solitary fuel resource although other fuels such as ethanol have also seen occasional use. A number of other hybrid vehicles use hydrogen fuel. Hybrid cars are starting to become more popular in America as more people are considering them as an option when purchasing a new car, but they are still relatively new to the car market. In future years even more hybrids will become available and it is perceived that hybrid cars will become a popular option as people become aware of how they can help the environment and save money at the same time.

A Cost Comparison of the Hybrid Car
A Cost Comparison of the Hybrid Car
by Floyd Dorrance
You should be able to find several indispensable facts about "hybrid car" in the following paragraphs. If there's at least one fact you didn't know before, imagine the difference it might make.
Hybrid cars are made to save a lot of fuel, and emit much lower levels of toxic fumes when compared to conventional cars. You have to consider the fact that hybrid cars are getting more and more popular because of these features.
A growing number of people are now considering getting a hybrid car because of the amount of money they will save on fuel and taxes. It is a fact that hybrid cars can be quite expensive in retail price when compared to conventional cars. However, you also have to think about the amount of money you will save from the rising cost of fuel in the long run. If you try computing and comparing the total expenses you will make on hybrid cars against conventional cars, you will see that hybrid cars is a much cheaper alternative. You will see that conventional cars will be much more expensive when it comes to total consumption of fuel.
Also, when you purchase a hybrid car, you will enjoy tax breaks. This will mean more money saved on taxes. Not only that, you will help contribute in creating a much cleaner environment because of the extremely low levels of toxic emissions of hybrid cars when compared to conventional cars.
Now that you know what benefits that a hybrid car can give, you now want to know how hybrid cars work and why it saves a lot of money on fuel.
See how much you can learn about "hybrid car" when you take a little time to read a well-researched article? Don't miss out on the rest of this great information.
First of all, the hybrid car technology has been around for quite sometime now.It is only now people have begun to realize the benefits a hybrid car can give them.
If you are a person who is trying to save money on fuel the hybrid car is for you. The hybrid engine technology has been around for quite some time now. Most locomotives today are now using the hybrid engine technology. They have diesel electric engines that help in saving a lot of money on fuel. Some have nuclear-electric engines similar to what you'll see on a nuclear submarine.
The hybrid car is a cross between an electric-powered car and a gas-powered car. When the car is running, it will use the gasoline to power the car. When it stops or when the car is idle, it will automatically switch off the gasoline engine and will run on the electric engine. This means that when you are stuck in a heavy traffic using a hybrid car, you will not use the gasoline engine while you're waiting for the traffic to move. Once you stepped on the accelerator pedal, it will automatically switch on the gasoline engine. Therefore, it will allow you to save a lot of money on gasoline. It will also help lower the amount of toxic emissions that the car releases in the atmosphere.
A typical hybrid car can cost as much as $30,000. It may seem a little too steep when you compare it to a conventional car. However, just think of the savings you can have from the rising prices of gasoline.
Hybrid car prices may be expensive but in the long run, you will save a lot more money than you can imagine. These are the benefits you can get with a hybrid car.
Knowing enough about "hybrid car" to make solid, informed choices cuts down on the fear factor. If you apply what you've just learned about "hybrid car", you should have nothing to worry about.

Make Your Used Car Stand Out From the Crowd Now

Make Your Used Car Stand Out From the Crowd Now
New cars are our everlasting addiction. We never can seem to get enough of them. We work hard and save up money just so we can buy a new car, in the mistaken hope that it is a wise investment. Actually, new cars are never an investment; they lose value the moment you drive off away from the car dealer shop.
Cars can only be investments if 1. You use them for your business, for transporting products perhaps. Or 2. If you're entering your custom car in a car show and win a price, then that's an investment. Otherwise, if you're just buying a new car to have something to drive to work or show around, then you're just wasting your money. And you're better off just sticking with your old car.
Re-evaluate your wants and wishes and consider repairing and upgrading what you already have. You can add and stamp your own personality to your basic car, by just investing in a few fresh innovative ideas.
How to Spruce Up Your Old Car

The vehicle enhancement options available are vast. Anything goes these days.
New products on the automotive accessory and customising market at present are not only functional but also can be a cosmetic improvement. You might even consider overall vehicle design, total vehicle enhancement.

Interiors. Air-bag, sound and entertainment system, colour instrument dials, silver or colour stitched leather gear knobs, sports pedals, spoilers, body kits, engine covers, interior upgrades in many styles and materials, even in wood grain and of course, custom seats, grille guards, window tinting.
Wheels. Most good shops have a selection of quality tyre brands from which to choose, and can be complimented with any number of attention-grabbing styles of genuine alloy wheels. Think about what your car would look like with a new set of wheels and tyres
Body. You may opt for part to full restoration or just standard to custom repairs and resprays to all stages. Full or part custom or standard panel and paint service. Maybe you would like clear tail-lights or euro style headlights in chrome or black. You could invest in a Body kit, air bag and lowered springs suspension. But, whatever you do make sure you buy exactly what you want and not what the sales person wants to sell to you.
Here's a few others that might spur you on:
Air dams and spoilers
Anti-theft devices
Bug deflectors
Carrier racks
Instrumentation
Keyless entry systems
Personal breath alcohol testers
RV and towing accessories
Special shock absorbers
Stereo systems
Striping and/or decals
Sunroofs
Vehicle navigation systems
So if you're considering trading-in your present car, do your sums first. You might find you would be just as pleased, and a lot richer, with a few particular improvements and spruce up your present car to make it part of your personality and stand out from the crowd.
Of course, don't get too caught up with just a gorgeous car. Make sure it performs well too, and that safety standards are also met. You're not just after driving on the road in good taste. You also want to get there safe and sound. Have a good time customising your ‘new’ car.
