Used BMW Parts: Save Money On Your Car
by Rand Stuck
Customizing cars is an increasingly popular hobby. Some people choose to work only on the body of the car. The addition of a custom part or two can make a big difference in the appearance of the car. Others find tuning their motor to be the most fun. You can always shop locally, but finding parts for you car online is now easier than ever. There are numerous websites that offer parts of all kinds. You can choose new or used items, factory OEM or after-market.
There are parts available for every make and model of vehicle on the road today. Whether the car is new or old, a luxury model or an economy car, there are parts available and many places to buy them. For instance, there are many online stores that feature new and used BMW parts. OEM parts can be purchased at the local auto supply store, but there is a greater variety at lower prices online.
Used parts are a great option for the BMW owner. There are good parts available that were salvaged from wrecked cars. These parts are undamaged, still work, and are much cheaper than buying new. You should also ask at your local salvage yard; they may have just what you want.
However, if you're really looking to soup up your BMW - make it faster, more agile, whatever - used BMW parts might not be the best option for you. Most of the specialty parts that you will need for these kinds of purposes will be really difficult, if not impossible, to find on the used market. Instead, try browsing the after-market stores on the Internet. You'll get a big selection with a broad range of prices.
You can do car enhancement through body modifications. There are now kits available that have exactly what you need for your particular project. You should figure out your price range first, and then go online to comparison shop. You can purchase these kits online, and they will have all the parts you need. There will be no more running to the auto parts store because you didn't know you needed something.
Customizing cars is a great hobby, and need not be particularly expensive. Because there are so many places that sell parts, you can find what you need in just about any price range. The variety of parts currently available also lets you build a truly unique car.

New Hybrid Cars: Tax Credit Information
New Hybrid Cars: Tax Credit Information
by Jim Hofman
If you're considering buying a hybrid car or truck, you'll be happy to know that the U.S. government offers certain tax incentives for your purchase. The Energy Policy Act provides a tax credit for those who purchase certain energy efficient vehicles. Since that act passed, it's been up to auto manufacturers to certify to the Internal Revenue Service that certain passenger autos and light trucks qualify for the credit and the amount of the credit. All the consumer needs to do is check with their dealer. If the vehicle qualifies, the amount will be posted at the dealership, usually right on the vehicle itself.
As a buyer, you'll need to meet certain requirements in order to declare a tax credit on your return. The requirements are basic and straightforward. Here they are for your reference:
1. The vehicle must be placed in service after 12-31-05 and purchased on or before 12-31-10, and the original use of the vehicle must begin with the taxpayer claiming the credit.
2. The credit may only be claimed by the original owner of a new, qualifying, hybrid vehicle and does not apply to a used model.
3. The vehicle must be acquired for use or lease by the taxpayer claiming the credit. You can't buy the car for someone else's use and claim the credit yourself.
4. The credit is only available to the original buyer. Leases don't count as buying. In a lease situation, the leasing company can claim the credit.
5. The vehicle must be used predominantly within the U.S.
Some Tax Credits Phasing Out
The hybrid vehicle tax credit begins to phase out when a manufacturer sells 60,000 qualifying vehicles. As an example, hybrid vehicles produced by Toyota Motor Sales USA qualify only for a lesser percentage of the tax credit. This applies to all hybrid vehicles sold by Toyota Motor Sales, which encompasses both Toyota and Lexus. Check with your dealer, but as of this writing most of these credits are 25% of the original amount.
Finally, when determining what year your tax credit can be applied, you'll need to consider the year in which the vehicle is placed into service. Let's use an example. Let's suppose you purchased a qualifying hybrid vehicle on December 27, 2007 and take possession on January 5, 2008. The amount of your eligible credit can be taken for the 2008 tax year.
The purpose of these tax cuts was designed to stimulate consumer purchase of hybrid vehicles. While we expect some level of tax incentive to remain, we also predict the amounts will lessen over time. The rationale appears to be that hybrid vehicles will be much more accepted over time, thereby negating the need for tax credits.

Work Hard Like The Chevy Astro
Work Hard Like The Chevy Astro
by Kathy Austin
The Chevrolet's Astro has an amazing pulling power of 5,500 lb. Now that is the strength of Chevy's Astro.
Introduced in 1985, Chevy's Astro is a multi-purpose van that effectively competed with rival Dodge's Plymouth Voyager and various van models of the Japanese manufacturer Toyata. It is a versatile van and could be used as a standard passenger van or a cargo van. The Astro is also used as the base for 'converted vans' designed for a variety of uses. General Motor's Safari, a truck-based platform, is the sibling of the hardworking Astro.
Astro's body belongs to the M-Van class and is much like its predecessors, the F-Body and X-Body types manufactured by General Motors.
In its article about Chevy Astro, Wikipedia featured an image of this model of a Coca-Cola delivery van. The impression given is that it is for a targeted group of people. That is why people who drive this van are noticeably hardworking folks or at least that's what the manufacturers want to convey. And there is way to commend them in a very special way - give them a stylish Chevy Astro Keychains.
Compared to Chrysler minivans, the Astro offers much room. General motors marketed this model using the tagline "life is too big for a minivan." Astro takes pride in accommodating large numbers of people, more than an ordinary car (up to eight (8) passengers). This makes the model ideal for a mini-school bus, tour van, or a family vacation companion.
The Chevy Astro is undoubtedly a durable model, just what hardworking people are looking for in a multi-purpose van. There is this story about one of the eight Special Edition Astro vans manufactured at the Arlington, Texas plant in 1986. According to Wikipedia, the unit spent 20 years in Belton, Texas and is now an ice cream van in Mexico. Uh! That ice man must be a proud owner of a Chevy Astro! He deserves a fine top grain black leather keychain sporting the Chevy Logo and the model name "Astro".
And mind you, Astro was also a hit in Japan even if the model is only available in left-hand drive units! Japanese converters must have found its genuine power and durability to be above the class its "own" brands. So our keychain manufacturers must take note. Maybe a keychain featuring the Chevy logo and the name "Astro" in Japanese script could be a hit in Japan.
The last of the Astro and Safari models came out just before May 14, 2005 - the day when its manufacturers decided to take it out of production. Two years had passed since then; and there are still a good number of people still driving this hardy vehicle. There are many loyal fans for the Chevy Astro.
This reliable vehicle deserves an honor badge. So what are you waiting for? Give your hardworking friends a great gift to make them value their fellowship with their own great, reliable vehicle. It is a perfect gift for birthdays or this coming Christmas season.

2008 Acura RDX
2008 Acura RDX
by Fei Lim
For those looking for a new crossover vehicle, there are a variety of options out there, such as the Toyota RAV4, the Lincoln MKX, the BMW X3, and even the Land Rover LR2. However, one new crossover vehicle that seems to be stealing all the lime light is the 2008 Acura RDX. This is one great crossover vehicle that has taken the term "crossover" to the next level. So, for those looking for a crossover vehicle with a reasonable price tag and unbeatable performance, the RDX is definitely a vehicle to consider.
One of the big reasons that the 2008 Acura RDX is getting so much attention is because it is the first time that Honda, the parent company of Acura, has produced a turbocharged engine for the a product vehicle. This is definitely big news as Honda takes another step up and gets into the field of turbo charged engines for the very first time ever.
Speaking of the engine, the engine inside the 2008 Acura RDX is a great one. While the engine is only a 2.3 liter engine, it uses the variable flow turbo charger to kick out 240 hp and 260 lb of torque. For even more power, the car comes with a special Sequential SportShift manual feature that has special power shifters that are mounted on the steering wheel. It also sports a great all wheel drive system that keeps it doing great in rain, snow, and even in off road conditions.
Even though the 2008 Acura RDX may not really look like it is built for speed, it can do 0-60 in a not too shabby 7 seconds. Also, the car can pull off the quarter mile in just 15.5 seconds, which is great for a crossover vehicle. With great ABS and EBD brakes, you won't have a problem stopping this car either. Other great safety features in the vehicle include front driver and passenger airbags and there are side curtain air bags included with the vehicle as well.
If you are looking for technology as well as performance, this car definitely boasts a great technology package, even though you'll pay an extra $3500 for it. When you spring for the extra technology package you'll get a great surround sound stereo system, a GPS navigation system, and Bluetooth wireless telephone, a great climate control system, traffic updates, a rearview camera, and more.
The inside of the 2008 Acura RDX is definitely not a disappointment either. It comes standard with leather seats and leather trim in the interior. The front seats are heated as well, for a comfortable ride. You also get a power moonroof, Xenon headlights, satellite radio, and allow wheels standard as well. Even a nice 6 CD changer comes standard with this luxury crossover vehicle.
Since we live in a time where gas prices are soaring, many people will appreciate the fuel mileage that this vehicle gets as well. While it definitely doesn't perform like a small economy car, it does great for a crossover vehicle, getting almost 18 mph around town. This vehicle also comes with a reasonable price tag, unlike many of the other crossover vehicles on the market today. You can get the base vehicle for under $34,000, and for a few more thousand dollars you can get the vehicle fully loaded with all the great extras you want.
You'll find that there is plenty of room in this car, especially for passengers. Plenty of foot room is included, so even those on the tall side will feel comfortable in this vehicle. However, one problem is that there is not quite as much room in the cargo hold as some of the crossover rivals have.
So, if you are looking for a sports car or a car that gets 50 mpg, this is not the vehicle for you. However, for those looking for something between a luxury sedan and a SUV, this is a great choice. You'll get all the great extras in the vehicle as well as a vehicle that does well off road and on road. All of this can be yours for a price that is fairly reasonable as well. So, as you can see, this is definitely a vehicle worth talking about, and you may even find it to be a vehicle worth making your own.

Speculations Run About Cadillac XLR

Speculations Run About Cadillac XLR
by Anthony Fontanelle
When speculations start to boil and rumors start spreading wide, there are a couple of reasons behind this. One, there is somebody or some party who wants to gain from the building speculations - a marketing strategy, for short. Two, followers of the topic had nothing much to talk about hence the speculations. Three, someone or some party wants to bring the topic down from the top rank that it belongs to. And four, the whole rumors deal is to actually create hype because there is really some truth about the whole talk.
Right now, speculations are running around the Cadillac XLR and the Cadillac XLR-V. These two vehicles from the Cadillac range have been the topic for some number of auto followers and experts. One of the facts that the industry does know is that General Motors and Cadillac are still keeping mum about the real deal with the Cadillac XLR and the Cadillac XLR-V, reported Jalopnik.
The rumors have been set to sizzle as Jalopnik continued to report that writer Rick Popely from the Chicago Tribune had written about the two vehicles in his article which was published just last Sunday. The writer did disclose that the new 2009 Cadillac XLR which is a roadster would be available in dealerships come July. He also continued that the vehicle would be coming with new styles for the exterior and the interior. For the vehicle's price, Popely did continue to disclose that Chevrolet has mentioned that you might have to shell out $100,000 to get one and it seems like the vehicle would be made as a limited edition type for only 2000 units would be create per year. The article also did share that the vehicle might also be getting a new engine.
The Cadillac XLR has been produced by General Motors since 2004 and it is being assembled in the car manufacturer's plant in Bowling Green in Kentucky. The vehicle took the spot that previously belonged to the Cadillac Eldorado and the Cadillac Allante. As a luxury roadster, the vehicle comes as a FR coupe convertible with two doors and it is built on the company's Y-body platform.
As part of its set of Cadillac XLR parts, the automobile has been equipped with two kinds of engines - a Northstar V8 unit capable of holding 4.6 liters, and a Northstar SC V8 with 4.4 liter.

BMW Xenon: Many Kinds, Many Colors
BMW Xenon: Many Kinds, Many Colors
by Rand Stuck
If you drive, you've probably noticed that it's getting more common to see differently tinted headlights on the road. However, the different tints aren't just for the sake of fashion. Xenon headlights come in an array of colors that depend on the bulb's brightness.
As one could expect, the BMW xenon lights are exceptionally popular on the new BMW's. Not only do the variety of colored bulbs look great, they also reduce glare for oncoming traffic and provide more visibility for the driver of the BMW. No doubt you will desire to find out which bulb best suits your needs when shopping around for the right BMW lighting.
Xenon light fixtures provide a complete spectrum of colors that are brighter according to the type of bulbs ranging from six thousand to twelve thousand degrees Kelvin. By contrast, conventional halogen light fixtures are only about four thousand three hundred degrees and provide a yellow tinted light. Super white bulbs are about four thousand eight hundred degrees and are extremely bright. Intense blueish Xenon light fixtures are measured in the 6000 to 8000 range of brightness. Any of these bulbs are legal in every state.
There are two more types of xenon BMW headlights that can be bought, but can't be used to drive on a regular road in any state. The purple BMW xenon lights are measured at 10,000 degrees Kelvin and the bright green BMW xenon lights are measured at 12,000 degrees Kelvin. These are used mainly for show or display cars as they are too bright to use on the highway for normal driving.
There is the possibility that xenon bulbs will not work in your car. Fortunately, it is possible to locate packages that allow their use in older vehicles. You may even wish to purchase such a "conversion kit" for no other reason than to update the look of an old car.
Xenon headlights have a different color than ordinary lights so they tend to be more visible to other drivers. This makes them safer than conventional lights. Other drivers won't be able to say that they did not see your car. The lights are worth the higher cost because it pays off it terms of additional safety.

BMW M3- The Fourth Generation Car
BMW M3- The Fourth Generation Car
by Rand Stuck
BMW M3 is the fourth generation and is still designed to thrill. The new BMW M3 continues the tradition of building a perfect high-performance sports car. It comes with a completely new V8 engine and drive train, a lightweight body that is also extremely stiff, a lowered center of gravity and a carbon roof which, while just as strong as a steel roof, weighs far less. And of course, everything has been tried and tested on the toughest proving ground in the world.
For this car, style is not the main goal; it will always be designed by functionality. The front is designed to accommodate the high-rev engine. The back sports a wider track and four tailpipes. Even the shape of the exterior mirrors enhance the overall aerodynamics. It is this mixture of form and function that guarantee the the final effect. This car provides sports performance that is perfectly suited for everyday driving.
Upon starting up the engine you are instantly met with the capabilities of the high-rev engine. As you shift through the gears, you will propel the BMW forward as it reaches and surpasses the boundaries of driving pleasure. As you near the first bend you will have to brake, but keep holding tightly to the steering wheel to maintain your advantage. There are many different paint finishes which can be used to personalize your BMW M3, adding to the enjoyment of the powerful sound of the engine at 8,400 rpm.
The BMW's exterior sports a curved front with wide wind intake vents. Wind is deflected away in all directions as it bypasses the flexed arch of the vent due to this elegant and elaborate shaping of the headlights. Wind resistance accelerates as it slides over the long curving lines of the BMW's sloped roof, disappearing as quickly as it arrives and leaving the BMW M3 to continue on its way without disturbance...an amazing performance!
If you take just one look inside the cockpit of the BMW 3 Series M3 you can see that the unique dashboard conceals a wealth of novelties: titanium or aluminum complement the perfectly matched colors of the interiors trimmed in rare woods, materials that emphasize the unsparing roominess of this vehicle.
Although the instrument dials are positioned for ease of use, they blend so well with the rest of the interior that they are easy to overlook on first glance. You will find the seats both comfortable and incredibly spacious. If you choose optional sports seats, you'll quickly discover that they offer excellent side support which will keep you relaxed and comfortable on even the longest journey.<

Buy Your Ford Mustang Online At A Great Price

Buy Your Ford Mustang Online At A Great Price
by ClassicMustangs
If you want to buy your Ford Mustang online at a great price, you have to do so with your eyes wide open. It is easier if you want a new car that is fully protected by the manufacturer's warranty, although even then you have to be careful.
Even a new car could have stood outside a dealer's showroom unprotected from the elements all winter, and you certainly have to look at it before you buy. That goes with any car, let alone a pony car, and while it is easy to but online from a site a few hundred miles away, how are you going to check it out before you clinch the deal? As long as you understand the pitfalls as well as the benefits, then you can carry on with a degree of confidence.
A guarantee or warranty from the seller regard condition of bodywork is an absolute must, and if that is refused then you must think that there must be a reason. The vast majority of car salesmen are honest, no matter what you are led to believe, but they should be willing to back that honesty up with a guarantee.
Ford Mustangs can be driven hard and that means that the maintenance must be good. Most Mustang owners love their cars and look after them, but there are the few that don't. Be careful if the price seems unusually low, even for online, since you can more than exceed the money you saved by spending a fortune on repairs a few weeks down the road. The standard of that maintenance might also be questionable, because a lot of people go for afterparts because they are cheaper, but these are not always as good as parts from the original manufacturer.
Before buying you should ask the seller for everything needed to identify the vehicle: its model, year, place of manufacture, and details of the engine, transmission and so on. When inspecting the vehicle make sure that details on the ID plate by the driver's door ties up with the Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N.) under the hood (or on the dash after 1968). If they don't tally, or if you can't find the plates, then don't buy the car.
The parts of your Mustang that could go wrong, and be very costly to you, include the chassis, bodywork, drivetrain and suspension. The drivetrain especially can be expensive, and unless you are a mechanic the best way is to pay for a qualified vehicle inspector. A corroded chassis could mean that your lovely new Ford Mustang is fit only for the scrapheap, and even a new engine and gearbox is very expensive. You could buy another used car for cheaper.
The signs to look for in your test drive are squeaks and squeals, rattles and oil spots when parked. The gears should change smoothly and quietly without being forced and there should be no rust. A good driver who takes care of the car will keep the bodywork immaculate. After your test drive, keep looking: don't buy right away. Shop around online and get an idea of the market price for the model you just checked out. If you are buying online you might have to hire a local expert to carry out the test drive for you.
If you are still interested, check out the history of your model and year. Take note of the various changes and make sure that the description fits your car. You will be able to choose with much more knowledge if you understand the history of the car, and the way it has developed over the years. You will also be able to show a degree of know-how when you speak to dealers, who might then be less liable try to take advantage and sell you a lemon. Dealers are always more wary with customers that show that they know what they are talking about.
You should also have a clear vision of what you want your car for. If you want a car just to drive around in than a Cobra might be more suitable for you than a powerful GT. So keep your intended use in mind, and then check up on the average prices of the type of Ford Mustang you are looking for. Kelley Blue Book and NADA will provide you with the book price of any specific Mustang model and year of manufacture, so you will know if you are being overcharged or not. It is always best to be armed with the proper prices when you are looking to buy a used car.
The main problem with buying online is that the seller could be a long way away from your home town, and you might not find it easy to actually see the car before buying it. If this is the case, make sure you have a money back guarantee should the car prove faulty or not as advertised. Some buyers in that kind of situation employ a local mechanic or auto service company to check over the car and provide a report. At least then you can be sure that the car has been examined by an expert.
You could ask for photocopies or scanned files of the service and repair history, but there is very little else you can do when purchasing from a distance. It is possible to get some great bargains online, and probably the best tip is to pay by credit card if possible, since you then have some degree of protection. However, the vast majority of online automobile transactions are completely honest and you will generally get what you pay for.
It is even possible to buy your Ford Mustang online on eBay, and you can get some great prices that way. As long as you know what you want and what price to expect, and take some common sense precautions in having the vehicle inspected before use, there is no reason why you cannot clinch a great online deal for your Ford Mustang, and get a good car online at a great price.

Ford, General Motors Execs Optimistic On Sales
Ford, General Motors Execs Optimistic On Sales
by Anthony Fontanelle
Executives at Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. have intimated their confidence last Wednesday that the sales in the United States will pick up in the last half of this year as a federal boost and slashed interest rates improved shoppers' confidence.
"We're beginning to see, after six quarters of declines, the beginnings of some pent-up demand," General Motors North America President Troy Clarke said at the Chicago Auto Show media preview. "You could make a case that the second half of the year could be significantly better."
Many analysts in the industry anticipate for the worst sales in America in a decade, divulged BusinessWeek. But Ford and General Motors said that there are signs of hope.
Clarke said that the majority of mortgages with adjustable rates will change over in the first two quarters of the year, and consumers have been planning for that. Additionally, the government help could stimulate consumers' confidence without drilling a hole in their pocket.
Mark Fields, Ford Americas president, was also bullish. "We do see opportunity in the second half," Fields said, adding that interest rate cuts could also help stimulate sales.
"We're going to keep our dealers competitive, and a lot of it's going to depend on where the competition is," added the exec of the Ford Mustang maker.
Mark LaNeve, General Motors vice president for North American sales and marketing, said that big cuts GM and Ford made to their rental-car sales in 2007 could help stimulate demand in 2008 since rental cars often replace new-car sales when they return to the general market. LaNeve said that the automakers alone have cut 350,000 cars from daily rental fleet sales in the last few years. He added that automakers were also much more disciplined in 2007 about the use of incentives, which tend to artificially pull sales ahead.
According to the auto Web site Edmunds.com, incentives averaged $2,366 per vehicle in the previous year. The figure is down by $42 from 2006.
"We really believe the industry's going to be OK this year," LaNeve said. "We've had a fairly weak car market for the better part of two years. Economic weakness is being experienced in other places right now. We've already been in it."
Clarke said that the Detroit automaker's incentive spending will likely be up in the first half of the year. "I think incentives are a very important tool for us to explore and use. It doesn't mean we fall off our incentive discipline," he concluded.

The Advantages of a BMW Bluetooth Upgrade
The Advantages of a BMW Bluetooth Upgrade
by Wayne Hemrick
Even if you drive a late model BMW (02 or newer), it may be time to consider a BMW Bluetooth upgrade. After all, Bluetooth is like
any other digital technology it is constantly being updated and refined. A BWM Bluetooth upgrade will ensure that your vehicles
ability to integrate with your cell phone is up-to-date and ready for whatever may come next.
The Advantage of Bluetooth
If youre like many people on the go, your cell phone is on and at the ready almost every waking minute including drive time.
However, studies (and a few bitter experiences) have clearly demonstrated that attempting to use a cell phone while driving highly
distracting and dangerous, posing a hazard to both driver and others on the road (in fact, in 2005, a woman in Portland, Oregon
drove off a bridge and into the Willamette River while talking on a cell phone). Many states and municipalities are now passing laws
prohibiting the use of cell phones while driving.
A BMW Bluetooth upgrade makes it possible and legal to use your cell phone while driving.
About Bluetooth
Named for the Viking king who briefly united the Scandinavian countries over a thousand years ago by the Swedish engineers who
first developed it in the 1990s, Bluetooth technology actually has its roots in the work of early Gugleimo Marconi and Nicola Tesla
and their pioneering work on wireless communications during the late 1800s. It is an industry standard protocol that allows wireless
communication between computers, cell phones, digital cameras and more.
Unlike radio, Bluetooth is a very specific protocol for linking a variety of digital devices over a very short range; in addition, such
communications can be encrypted so as to protect privacy. Todays BMW Bluetooth upgrade enables much stronger encryption to
be maintained over connections that last a longer period of time (up to 23 hours and 20 minutes).
Features
With the new Bluetooth 2.1 and a headset, youenjoy total hands-offoperation of your cell phone, as our BWM Bluetooth
upgrade allows you to hear your incoming calls over your OEM radio, using the control buttons on your steering wheel.
A BMW Bluetooth upgrade also means that you wont miss any more important calls, since it will automatically turn off any
programming you may be listening to on your radio. The BMW Bluetooth upgrade is also very easy to install and very affordable.
With plug-and-playcapability, yoube up and running with your BMW Bluetooth upgrade in no time!
Whats Available?
BMW Bluetooth upgrades are available for 3 Series, 5 Series and X5 vehicles manufactured between 2002 and 2006. Add safety
and value to your fine vehicle today with a BMW Bluetooth upgrade from Bavarian Soundwerks.

The car is a rear wheel drive, with a rear mounted six speed manual with a restricted slip differential, and an "alloy torque tube with a carbon fibre propeller shaft" or the "Sportshift automatic manual transmission" as an option. The steering system consists of a rack and pinion power aided steering, with 3.0 turns from lock to lock, with a column reach and tilt regulator.
The V8 Vantage Roadster's suspension includes both rear and front having an anti roll bar, "independent double aluminum wishbones", and "coil over aluminum monotube dampers", but with the addition of the front also utilizing "anti drive geometry", and the rear using "longitudinal control arms". Alfa Romeo Spider
Alfa Romeo Spider
by Sam Carson
The Alfa Romeo Spider first was introduced back in 1966 at the Geneva Motor show, where it was hailed as an instant classic by the auto-public. But at the presentation it was still an unnamed masterpiece, but that was about to change when the results of a competition in Italy produced the name "Duetto", and since it first name, history would show that with every change and new series it was re-christened by another alias. But the first Spiders now are referred to as the 105 series Spider/ "Classic" Spider and it was created using the body style of the classic 2-seat roadster.
The original design of the car was done by Pininfarina, who also played a big part in the car's manufacturing, due to the car's unique monocoque creation; which is the incorporation of "crumple zones" at both the front and the rear. The Alfa Romeo Spider have gone through a lot of changes over its almost 3 decade history, both mechanically and aesthetically; with these changes occurring every couple of years, it kept the Spider appealing to all audiences, and it made the Spider stay constantly unique when compared to even itself.
The Spider's basic proportional blueprint consisted of a length of 4255mm (167.5in) Duetto; a curb weight of 996 kgs (21906 lbs) Duetto; a wheelbase of 2250mm (88.6in) Duetto; a height of 1295mm (51in) Duetto; and a width of 1626mm (64in) Duetto. The Spider also came outfitted with a five-speed transmission, disc brakes, and independent front suspension. The engine of the Duetto was a form of the 1570cc Alfa Romeo Twin Cam, 4-cylinder engine, and outputted just about 109hp (81kW). The original Spider Duetto ran from 1966-1967.
The 1750 Spider Veloce replaced the Duetto in the latter part of 1967 with a 1779cc engine outputting 118PS (116hp or 87kW), and a torque of just 186N·m (137 ft·lbf). A new, smaller engine Spider was introduced in 1968; the 1300 Junior with a 1290cc engine with a max power of 89hp (66kW), but it was devoid of most of the first features of 1750 Veloce e.g. plastic headlight fairings, hubcaps, the brake servo, and the opening quarter-light. The 1st Series of the Spider, which included the original Duetto ran from 1966-1969, and became known by its alias of "Ossa di Sepia" or "Cuttlebone fish".
The 2nd Series of the Spider ran from 1970-1983, and was also known as "Fastback" or "Coda Tronca". The first major change was to the exterior of the 1750 Veloce, with the typical elongated round tail being remade into an ordinary cut-off tail know as the "Kamm Tail". The other appearance changes came from top hinged pedals; new door handles; a more raked windscreen; refined interior trim; a slightly different grille; and more luggage space. In 1971, the 2000 Spider Veloce was born with a new engine replacing the 1750 with a 1962cc, 132hp (98kW). The 1600 Junior was also given life also replacing the Junior 1300 with 1570cc engine outputting 110PS (108hp or 81kW).
The Series 3 Spider ran from 1983-1990 and was dubbed the "Aerodinamica". In 1982 was the launch of the new "2.0 litre Bosch fuel injection", which replaced the "SPICA mechanical injection". Also in that same year the Aerodinamica 2000 was born with a 1962cc engine with a max power of 128PS (126hp or 94kW) and a torque of 178N·m (131 ft·lbf). Alfa also introduced the "Green Four-leaf Clover" or "Quadrifoglio Verde" model in 1986, with many aesthetic changes to the exterior, but with the exact same engine of the regular 2000 Spider Veloce.
From 1990-1993 the 4th Series and its first important mechanical change was introduced with the "Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection with an electric fan". Other appearance changes occurred, also on the Type 4 Spider but the entire production of the Alfa Romeo Spider came to a sad end in 1993. However, a "Limited Edition Spider Commemorative Edition" was made for the North American market in May 1993 and was identified as a 1994 model.

Bmw M3 2008
Bmw M3 2008
by Sam Carson
The BMW M3 has an illustrious, rich, and long lineage since its inception back in 1986 to presently, it has included many distinct concepts and design of cars, and many distinct names from the original E30 M3 to the current M3 2008. This is the forth generation of the M3 cars, it is designed and manufactured by BMW M GmbH aiming to breathe futuristic life into a new addition to a long family tree, with general high performance, comfort and safety. The car was launched in 2007 with exceptional special features, supreme design concepts, and a lot of technological gadgets. Its foundations are based strongly on the 3 series Coupe, and is set to carry on the legacy of both motorsport racing and on the road driving. The M3 2008 has a very unique, superior character with excellent driving advancements that will make it a contender in the market and on the racetrack.
The new BMW M3 first priority is the issue of sophistication, and high quality everything and the interior is definitely no different as the perfectly mannered insides are available with a wide range of accents to fully customize it to the drivers individual tastes. The choice of interior range from high quality colours, various materials, BMW individualized high-end audio system that tailored to the car, design eccentric paints, and latest drive enhancing gadgets. It's another car to utilize BMW lightweight construction technology to maximize movement, and aerodynamics. The M3 2008 is the very first of the M3s models to have very innovative carbon fibre attributes, like that fact that carbon fibre used as a light weight component to decrease weight and lower the car's centre of gravity, and a carbon fibre strengthened roof. The car itself weighs in at 3649lbs, as the suspension and chassis are made out of aluminum, reflecting the further innovation of "intelligent lightweight construction".
BMW has decided the new M3 be something reflecting the future, and therefore did something that they have never done before regarding a M3, and that is placing an 8 cylinder engine into the car. The new engine has been design to displacing 3,999cc as a 4 litre V8, 8 cylinder attains a max power output of 420hp (309kW) with a torque of 400Nm (295lb-ft) at 3,900rpm. But shockingly still, 85% of the V8's climax torque is accessible to the driver all through the extraordinary speed sweep of 6,500rpm. This remarkable development permits the driver to an euphoric driving experience, as the engine revs up to planes of 8,400rpm, giving faultless performances continually. The transmission consists of a six speed manual gearbox with combined, temperature-connected oil cooling, mass inertia enhanced double-coated clutch, also featuring and interacting with "final drive". The M3 2008 accelerates from 0-62mph in just 4.8 seconds, and has realized a top speed of 155mph. And the achieved a weight per horsepower of 8.7lbs per hp, along with a power to weight ratio of 3.8kg/ hp.
The BMW M3 2008 power is suggestive to that of a thoroughbred racing car on the tracks. The car is a complete athlete all around, both in looks and in driving ability and potential. The M3 2008 is a real life powerhouse, that will live up to the trendsetting already done by its predecessors, and blaze a trail all its own.

Audi TT Second Generation 2006-Present
Audi TT Second Generation 2006-Present
by Sam Carson
The Audi TT brand has been in production since 1999, but the second model has just been in production for about 2 years now. The Second Generation TT is strongly based on the Volkswagen A5 platform, and has two classes, which consist of a roadster car model and a luxury sport. The original plans for the Audi TT Second Generation were revealed in 2004, then it was first showcased to the public on April 6th, 2006, and it was dubbed by the internal indicator of "Typ 8J". And like its predecessor the First Generation TT, it was praised by critics for its innovative, bold, provocative look and design, which is has been kept traditional with the brand. The ideals of the original unmatched design of the Audi TT both first and second can be heaped upon to its creative designers Freeman Thomas and J Mays of the Volkswagen's California design studio, as well as Martin Smith for the original concept and designing of the prize winning interior.
The prototypical Second Generation TT production car comes standard with the "3.2 litre VR6 engine" that outputs 250PS (247hp or 184kW). But the car has an additional option of Audi's rendition of direct injection engine in the form of the "2.0 litre Turbo I4", also known as the FSI (Fuel Straight/ Stratified Injection) outputting 200PS (197hp or 147kW). The FSI mechanics was obtained from the specially crafted Le Mans racing cars, which resulted in an overall improvement of fuel capabilities, and enhanced power turnover. This technology was imitated, enhanced, and integrated into Audi's format for the 2.0 litre engine. The transmission of the car came with the basic 6 speed manual drive, but has added the alternative of the DSG refined model as well, along with the "quattro all wheel drive" trimmings being standard with the 3.2 litre V6 engine.
The body-style of the original TT has been augmented and matched up to a higher level of elegance, and style, but still supporting the fundamental traits of the First Generation TT. The car is still being offered in the sheik roadster design, and the 2+2 coupe (4-door coupe), in keeping with the tradition for all the inherited lovers of the First Generation TT car. One of the TT's newer design is that it is manufactured out of aluminum in the front end, and out of steel in the rear end in order to magnify the balance of the car overall. This change also allows the car to be obtainable in both all wheel drive, and front wheel drive. The specifications of the second generation TT includes a length of 4178mm (164.5in); wheelbase of 2468mm (97.2in); a height of 1352mm (53.2in); and a width of 1842mm (72.5).
The TT comes with a couple of new performance intensifying embellishments that makes the car truly unique and allowing for a smoother ride, like the new reactive suspension the "Audi Magnetic Ride" being available as an option for the TT and is firmly based on "Delphi's MagneRide magneto rheological dampers". The "Audi Magnetic Ride" allows the suspension to automatically adapt relying on the present road settings that car might meet. A further addition to its interactive list is the redefined back spoiler that automatically lengthens allowing speeds over 75mph (120km/h), but can also retract at an appropriate location to allow even a low of 50mph (80km/h), which can also be controlled by the driver by utilizing a switch on the dashboard.
The Second Generation TT has captured many awards for the combination of the old with new and complete innovation at its best. The TT was the very first recipient of the "Drive Car of the Year", and outright won "Atuobild's Most Beautiful Car", "Fifth Gear Car of the Year 2006", "Top Gear Coupe of the Year 2006", "World Design Car of the Year 2007", and has been a finalist for "World Car of the Year". In 2004, Audi has announced plans for the next generation TT that will completely be manufactured out aluminum, and would go into the production line in 2007.

Bmw 645CI Coupe
Bmw 645CI Coupe
by Sam Carson
The BMW 645Ci Coupe is manufactured in Dingolfing, Germany, and was first showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003, while the car first went into production in 2004. The 645Ci coupe is one half of the sensational pair that consists of the BMW 6 Series, the other half of the duo is the convertible design. The 6 Series represents BMW's second foray into the market of luxury sportscar coupe and convertible forum, their first attempt into that specific forum unveils the symbolic prestige of the original 6 Series that ran from 1977-1989. Then previous model beheld the special attention that was given to it, and the result was the onslaught of refined, logical, and powerful styling theories. The new 6 Series upholds these same values and element in their current design with the same carefully crafted curves, sweeping lines, harmonic surfaces, and a spacious interior, setting elevated foundations that even their own future BMW models might find it hard to uphold. The 2+2 seater was first created and designed at BMW Designworks studios in Los Angeles, California.
The 645Ci has an enhanced echelon of agility and driving consistency when it comes to the unfettered movement of the car, because the bodywork that has been done is considered to be lightweight technology. The 6 Series coupe agility and free movement are the effect of the smart combination of synthetic materials essentially located all over the car's body, steel, and aluminum. The spots where lighter materials were placed are the front areas (not made of steel), front fenders (thermoplastic), the trunk lid (composite material), and the doors and the hood (aluminum). With the overall reduction of the weight, the car has achieved perfect weight distribution at 50:50, and helps intensively also on the fuel economy of the vehicle. Another plus from the lightweight construction is that of flawless maneuvering, even on hilly or mountainous environments and hair pin turns. The car does not buck or fly off unnecessarily, it responds as is expected from a BMW.
The coupe's engine is the 4.4 litre DOHC V8, which was the engine of the very well known BMW 745i. The 4.4 litre max power is 325hp at 6,100rpm, with a torque of 330lb-ft at 3,600rpm, and with assistance from the variant, "VALVETRONIC" valve controller. The 645Ci can surely achieve a top speed of 149mph in one simple movement, and an impeccable acceleration of 0-60mph in less than six seconds. The transmission system consists of 3 different six speed options: the six speed manual transmission that has always been reliable; the six speed "Steptronic" automatic, allowing the driver to shift manually if they chose; and a six speed "Sequential Manual Gearbox" (SMG), featuring both the shift paddles and a gearshift lever on the steering wheel.
The BMW 645Ci also comes standard with "BMW Driving Dynamic Control" (DDC), which lets the engine react instinctively when driving by having and maintaining steering capabilities in relation to speed depending on the surroundings. Also DDC permits the SMG or automatic transmission to stay in gear for a greater distance, and also promoting faster SMG shifts. All of these conditions can be altered by just a push of the DDC button to enable it. Other additions to the new 6 Series coupe are the trademark "twin-kidney" grille, "Active Steering", "Active Roll Stabilization", lightweight aluminum suspensions, "Dynamic Stability Control", adaptive headlights, panoramic glass roof, and the "Head-Up Display technology"(displaying information to the driver, directly in his line of vision).
The 645Ci coupe dimensions are a length of 190.2in; a height of 54.1in; a width of 73in; and a wheelbase of 109.4in. Making the 6 Series very noticeable with the characteristics of being long, wide, having a very low roofline, low slung, very spacious inside, and being positioned more to the back on its chassis. These attributes further help enhance the car and gives it a reputation of its own in the sportscar arena that was similar yet different to the original 6 Series, as it had its following then, and so to will this 645Ci coupe.

Aston Martin Vanquish
Aston Martin Vanquish
by Sam Carson
The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish or just Vanquish lived a short, illustrious, and limelight filled era, and spanning just 7 years, from 2001-2007. This level of elegance and distinction could never be misconstrued for anything or anyone else, because it screamed outstanding performance, and timeless looks from the new car on the block.
It was the forerunner of the Virage/ V8 Vantage, and was based on the theories of two concept cars, the Bertone Jet 2, and the Zagato Roadster; both were presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004. The Vanquish's stint in the limelight came from being the official car in the twentieth James Bond movie "Die Another Day", after that the Aston Martin Vanquish became one of the most popular, and easily noticeable vehicle, it was the car on everyone's lips. It was Aston Martin's prime, emblematic, production car for the 7 years of its life. It was created by Ian Callum and it is in the "grand tourer" class, and is manufactured by "Aston Martin Lagonda Limited". Unfortunately, it was dropped in 2007 and would be temporarily replaced by the "Aston Martin DBS V12" as Aston Martin's pendant vehicle until 2010, when a permanent replacement will be made.
The Vanquish's core force consisted of "5.9 litre (5935cc), 48-valve, 60º V12 engine" outputting a max power of 460bhp (343kW) at 6,500 rpm along with a torque of 542 N·m (400 ft·lbf), running at 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, succeeding a top speed of 186mph. A "fly-by-wire" throttle with a six speed "clutchless, sequential, manual transmission" directs the control system for the engine. The braking system on the otherhand includes 355mm (14in) ventilated and drilled disc brakes that have ABS, containing electronic brake distribution.
The Vanquish's engine mechanics is almost exact to the blueprint and components of the "3.0 litre Duratec 30 V6", even down to the last stroke and bore specifications. The car possesses a FR layout along with the basic Coupe body style, the Vanquish dimensions were carefully crafted; a length of 4666mm (184in); a wheelbase of 2690mm (106in); a height of 1318mm (52in); a width of 1923mm (76in); and a curb weight of 1835kg (4045 lbs).
The Aston Martin Vanquish car was altogether unmodified until 2005 rolled around, when the second model came out by the name of the Aston Martin Vanquish S, which was introduced at Paris Auto Show in 2004. The changes that came with this model was the increase in strength and more power all round, elegant styling changes, and all new 19 inch wheels. They also gave a choice to opt for a sportier appearance and performance with the "Sports Dynamic Pack" with potent braking features, powerful, sportier suspension, and refined steering capabilities. The engine, 6.0 litre V12 was masterminded by Ford and outputted a max power of 520bhp (388kW) at 7000 rpm, along with a torque of 577N m (426ft lbf), increasing 0-62mph at 4.8 seconds achieving a top speed of 200mph. The Vanquish S braking system was stronger than that of the Vanquish with 378mm (15in) situated at the front and 330mm (13in) positioned in the rear rotors.
The production of the Aston Martin Vanquish's ended officially on the 19th, July 2007, and that signaled the end of a master. Aston Martin also issued that the production of the last 40 cars would be under the stage name of the "Vanquish Ultimate Edition", having an enigmatic "Ultimate Black" exterior, elegantly done interiors, with tailor-made sill plaques inserted into the dash. The Vanquish is an instant classic, and will always have its critics, but will always have its fans.

The Aston Martin DBR9 Might Be Bond Material
The Aston Martin DBR9 Might Be Bond Material
by Sam Carson
The Aston Martin DBR9 is manufactured by its racing division and has had significant success since its inception in 2005. The car is a GT1 racing class, and it got its name "DBR9" from it predecessor the "DBR1", which was the first winning car in the family that won the illustrious 1959 "24 Hours of LeMans" race and in that same year the "World Sportscar" title as well. The "DBR1" derived its name from then-owner David Brown, which heralded the British back into the racing world once more. The Aston Martin DBR9 was first shown to a very select few of people back on 4th November 2004, at Aston Martin's headquarters in Gaydon, UK, and its debut race was the "12 Hours of Sebring" in March 2005.
The body of the car is designed in the conventional 2 door coupe style, and has its foundations rooted from the Aston Martin DB9 road car. And the DBR9 maintains some major attributes from DB9 road car, for example the heads of the V12 engine, the cylinder block, and the chassis, whereas everything else was made from scratch, and re-mastered for a superb enhancement of the car's performance under tough competition scenarios. The structure of the DBR9 is made up of an aluminum roof, racing developed aluminum under-frame, which is derived from the DB9, a high strength steel roll cage, and every other body panel is made from a "carbon fibre composite".
Aston Martin DBR9's bodywork is a complete blending of maximum aerodynamic performance, and the ease of use of a typical road car, making movement on the track second nature to the car and driver, resulting in a comfort and normalcy to everything that the car is, also adding to the aerodynamics of the car. The designer's aim was to make the entire bottom, from the rear diffuser to the front, of the DBR9 flat as possible, with a carbon wing attached to the backend in order to stimulate the rear down-force, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.4 seconds.
The specifications of the car are a width of 1978mm; a length of 4767mm; a weight of 1100kg; a wheelbase of 2741mm; and a height of 1195mm. The engine of the DBR9 consists of a "48 valve Aston Martin Racing 6.0 litre V12" fabricated from all alloy and a quad overhead camshaft, also the engine includes a "dry sump lubrication system", and "2 x 31.2mm air restrictors". The 6.0 litre V12 max power peaks at 600 bhp, and with a torque of over 700 N m. The suspension of the car incorporates a double wishbone at the front end and at the backend, with adaptable Koni dampers equipped with Eibach springs. The braking system is consists of both front and backend "Brembo six pot calipers" with "330mm diameter carbon discs", all labouring around a set of "OZ forged magnesium wheels". The arrangement and configuration of the DBR9 comprises a "mid front mounted engine", rear wheel drive, and a "mid rear mounted transmission". The transmission, Xtrac, is built up of "six speed sequential" that is longitudinally situated at the rear axle, and is put to use by a "four plated carbon clutch". The incorporated ECU/Data system encompasses a "Pi Data system" with a "Pectel engine ECU".
Recently, there were changes in regulations to assist race car drivers while racing the 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans race, and Prodrive added these changes unto the car e.g. the installation of air conditioning in the cockpit, and a heat resistant white roof inside. Both to assist the driver by ensuring temperatures are kept at a minimum, so performance levels from the driver would go up. However, the items previously responsible for cooling, the two hood vents, were removed because they were no longer needed.
The racing history of the DBR9 is a prominent one, with its major rival being Corvette Racing, where there as been some tough rivalries over the past 3 years. DBR9 debuted by winning the 2005 "12 Hours of Sebring" LMGT1 category. It came second behind Corvette in 2006 in both the 12 Hours and the 24-hour races, but had victories at Lime Rock Park, Mosport, Laguna Seca, Miller Motorsports Park, and Petit Le Mans. They finish second overall that year earning automatic entry into the 2007 24 hours of Le Mans, which they eventually won their class.
